Good morning everyone. Stayed up like old times last night but still got up bright eyed and bushy tailed to fix breakfast. Not a lot of fun when you don't eat breakfast yourself but that's okay.

I think it's gonna be a good day for a nap.

Hope y'all are having a great weekend.

I posted this on Facebook and wanted to also share it here. Just because it is so very important. I know there are a lot of us "older" Reonauts frequenting the lounge. This post really concerns you also.

Please take the time to write down any family medical history and pass it to your children! Don't let them lose the ability to know vital information that could save a family members life.

My post:

There have been a lot of thoughts going through my mind since my daughters diagnosis of thyroid cancer.

My family and close friends know that the very word causes me an intense emotional response.

After much thought I feel it is a good idea to remind all family members to stay aware of the cancer dangers in our family. With cancer occurring in both my parents, and cancer in my Mother's side, with a aunt dying from cancer, it is a true concern.

As I get older I feel it is very important that my children, the next generation, and my nieces and nephews make note of the threat of cancer running in our family.

Just as I passed down the information to my children this generation should make sure the information is a part of their medical records and family history.

No one wants to think a diagnosis of cancer might strike their family. But being aware means your doctors, and you can watch for any warning signs. Also as Krista found out, symptoms of thyroid problems lead her to the right doctor and the cancer was found.

I know this is a scary topic. But the truth of family history of cancer just might mean a doctor considers a test that brings a early diagnosis and saves a life.

I love you all and my hope is you never have to face the challenge of dealing with cancer. My wish is you all remain cancer free and live long lives!

Wanted to add, if you are reading this and not a family member, or if you are, please take some time to research your family medical history. As the older generation passes so do the conversations that contain vital information. I really wish I asked more health questions when my Mom and Grandparents were alive. Even aunts and uncles carry with them the knowledge that might be valuable for your family's health. Passing on medical history, and sharing with others, is very important.

oh wow sweetie, didn't realize this. Thoughts and prayers are with y'all. Excellent advice! These aren't things folks talk about a lot, but it is crucial at times to have access to this info!

Good evening, Reoville

Karen's post struck a nerve, but unfortunately, i have no memory whatsoever of my earlier family's issues. Hell, i can barely remember who the hell they were.

Still a good idea. I wish i could pass on better info to my daughters...

... or, it could be like Mr. T says--- i'm just too f'in lazy to type...

Hello nerak, my thoughts and prayers are with you, can't imagine what your going through. I know how difficult it can be, worrying about our love ones, feeling helpless, hope it all turns around for you and your love ones, i know from just recently, too recently, being in a ICU with my new born child it is the hardest thing, for me a positive outlook and the support from the wonderful people right on the forum keep me going....

Dumb Reo Question

I have a mini Reo. Bought several years ago....appx 3 years. It is the model that has an "off" position on the button/switch (on top of reo) Well, I never could squonk, so I just put it away. I recently dug it out and it appears the problem is that I have to push down so hard on the button. The only finger I can use is my right middle finger to get it to work.

Anyone know a fix or adjustment for this?

Sorry if I'm in the wrong forum.

Thanks in advance!!

Good morning Sterno! Hope everyone has a great Sunday. About two weeks ago I received an anonymous gift for my birthday. It is a Fitbit HR. I started listening to this little device and have just about hit the goals everyday. I'm down 3 lbs! I'm very excited because I needed the goals to get my .... in gear.

Heck to get a head start on my 10,000 steps I walked for an hour this morning and logged over 5,000! Approximately 2.7 miles. I can't wait for deer season this year. I won't be out of shape (although round is a shape) I hope to be more of a rectangle lol. I won't get tired as quickly as before.

I'm amazed at this little device.

It's funny because you will be sitting there at 8:30 at night with 5 flights of stairs and 3,000 steps to go and get up and do it. Rather than sit back and do nothing. At least that's been my experience.

I'm off to make some breakfast.

Take care all!

Good Morning REOVille. Karen's post struck a nerve, and I am glad I can remember it. My Family History includes a Paternal Grandfather, and Father, who suffered mentally the last few years of their lives. If, in about 20 to 25 years I start posting in pink lettering, please forgive me. Seriously, I do expect my family history will catch up to me someday if the Creator allows me to live that long. Since I know it is probably coming, I might as well enjoy life while I can. A Good Wife, a Career I love, and a Place to call Home. I am truly Blessed Today. Treating those closest to you with the same Respect and Dignity that you would show a Customer is a good start. At least it is for me. And enjoy the time we have rather than worry over times gone by and that yet to come.

Sermon over. Have a Safe and Blessed Sunday :nun:
