Wow, it's been extremely quite in here even since last night/early morning. Guess people are already starting to hibernate for the winter.
Anyway, I saw something interesting online last night. So we all know the grand was finally cloned by China, no secret there. I was surfing the inner webs and was window shopping new squonk boxes and noticed a site (not gonna mention the name) but you can basically order a cloned 1:1 aluminum TMod or the even newer aluminum Custom Classic CC Mod. I guess no one is safe when it comes to clones coming out of China.
Btw: I know someone that ordered the cloned reo grand to try out squonking, so I've had the pleasure of looking at the clone and comparing it to my black wrinkle to see the differences. So when you look at the two from a distance it really is hard to tell which is the fake, but then gets pretty obvious once you pick them up and feel them in your hand. The clones wrinkle finish is so gritty I swear it feels like medium grit sandpaper in your hand. It feels nothing like the smooth soft feel of the wrinkle finish were all use too. Secondly, under the hood the black delrin cover has a bad gap and is poorly aligned, honestly it doesn't look or feel like the durable delrin cover in the real reos, it looks and feels like black plastic. The only other difference I saw was the 510 connection. The clones is adjustable and even had the reverse grub, but the 510 itself wasn't inlaid perfectly centered into the mod like the real ones are and you could visually see that it was off by a few mm's. The doors were completely inter changeable, but honestly I wouldn't put the cloned door on my real mod, it just feels cheap and less comfortable in my hand. I told my buddy he needs to order a real reo once he try's squonking and he agreed to purchase an authentic. The only reason why he bought the clone was to try before he buys to see if he's gonna like it.
