This probably won't post right but here's a try- this was off of Madvapes newsletter- went on their site and couldn't find the same info, so here's a go at my cut and paste from my email:


Atomizers, Cartomizers, Voltage and Resistance


As a general rule, more voltage = more vapor. The higher the voltage of the mod, the hotter the heating element will get thus producing more vapor. With cartomizers and atomizers there is a resistance associated with each device. The higher the resistance, the less power it is allowing from the battery and thus less vapor. So a 2.0 ohm cartomizer will produce more vapor than a 2.5 ohm cartomizer at the same voltage. The same is true of an atomizer.

Since resistance (ohms) essentially reduces the power from the battery, there is a balance that needs to be achieved for the electrical components as well as the quality of the vapor produced. Too much voltage can not only burn the e-liquid giving it a burnt taste, it can also burn out the cartomizer or atomizer if it is not capable of handling the amount of voltage going to it. If there is too little resistance, the device may see it as a short and not turn on.

The relationship of voltage and resistance produces different amounts of watts which is a unit of power. So the more watts, the more the heating element heats up. A hotter element produces more vapor and a stronger throat hit. Below is a chart showing the relationship voltage and resistance to watts. Too many watts can burn out the atomizer or cartomizer and may burn some e-liquids.

It is also important to note that lower resistance and higher voltage batteries will use up e-liquid quicker as both are increasing the power to the heating element. So keep those cartomizers and atomizers wet so you don’t get a burnt taste.

In relation to batteries, you may notice there is a mAh number on them. This is milliampere-hours. It relates to the length of time that a battery will last before needing to be recharged. So under the same circumstances a battery with a higher mAh will last longer. Also, if you put 2 batteries together in series in a device it doubles the voltage output from the device but not the length of the time the battery will last. So (2) 3 volt batteries in series will produce 6 volts together giving more power but not necessarily increasing the time they will last. If the (2) batteries are in parallel they do not increase the voltage but the length of time they last. An example of (2) batteries in series would be one on top of the other

Recently had my mini.and love it but I was wondering how often you have to add that stuff onto the firing pin, also what exactly is it?

Noalox is a gel/paste that aids in the smoothness of the current between the atomizer and the battery. I recently started paying more attention to maintenance with Noalox since I thought I was having problems with the pin's contact to the battery -- I used a dab of Noalox on the pin -- and viola -- I was in vape bliss -- smooth, effortless puffs.

I found it a little difficult to apply the Noalox to the pin, because I didn't know whether I got it on the end of the pin or the side of the pin -- so instead of trying to dab Noalox to the pin, I have been putting a dab on the top (positive) end of the battery every time I switch out the batteries and it works like a charm.

Thanks for the replies, one more thing...I saw about putting a magnet on the battery is this needed? If it is do you apply noalox on the magnet?
Also where can I buy this noalox from and if you put it on the battery do you use more due to constant changing of batteries?

My understanding of a magnet for a battery is that it is used as a spacer, sort of if the battery is too loose or something...maybe someone else might offer a better explanation.

As for the Noalox -- I bought an 8oz bottle of it at Home Depot for about $6. Here's a link for Noalox on Amazon so you can see what the product looks like:

I use it whenever I switch my batteries -- I use a toothpick -- dip it in the Noalox and then tap it on the top side of my battery.

do not ever put leads from your multimeter in your atty connector while there is a battery in your mod and press the button. This will "cook" your mod: Collapse the spring, and possibly damage the switch/button and firing pin. If this happens, contact rob right away.

Is it wrong that I have hair ties to prop the door on my Reo Original? I know earth magnets. At least I had the sense not to use rubber bands.

Edit: I'm missing an earth magnet to the door, know where to get one?

Yes. Rob. :) Send him a PM or email.
I have read that some hardware stores carry them. You could take your mod with you and see if you find a size that matches.

i just about lost the door on my new mini reo this past weekend when i pulled it out of my bag, so i decided i needed to try to remedy this from happening again.
i had a tiny disk magnet and found a small head nail (has to have some steel in it so a magnet sticks to it) and cut it to 9/16" - then i hand filed the cut end smooth.
i placed the door (inside facing up) and placed the new magnet on the door magnet (to get the right polarity) and placed a dot of super glue on top of the new magnet then i placed the filed side of the nail on top of the super glue.
let that sit and dry.
then i place a dot of glue on the nail head and placed it at the inside base of the reo case, in between where the battery and the bottle go - so it is somewhat center - after it had dried a bit, i added a little more super glue to where the nail head attached to the case.
i then added a drop more glue around where the new magnet touches the case (at the base).
let it dry thoroughly.

so far it has stayed in place!
and when i slide the door down now, it has that second magnet to catch it from falling.
i don't think this is permanent fix, but for now, it is working.
