Annie....if the connection gives you any more problems you can take the spring out and sand/file inside the REO where the spring sits. This will definitely alleviate any grounding issues!!

Won't hurt to smear a bit of noalox under the spring before you reattach it.

I'm noticing a bigger Vdrop then when my grand was brand new...same coils, multiple different batteries. I'm thinking the 510 area must need a cleaning or tightening as the spring and positive pin is pristine and well maintained. Any tips on how to disassemble SAFELY

I've been having issue's with my reo grand lp not firing and sparking/arcing. I'm using purple Efest 18650's... they are getting some oxidation/scaring on the button tops. I've cleaned the firing pin and tops of the batteries, but they just aren't working together.... any tips? Im using a 0.76 ohm coil. It was doing this with a 1.3 ohm coil as well.
It seems like it fires when it wants to or when the battery is re-inserted in a different way. I've been trying to figure this out for the past week with good times and bad times... I'm thinking I need noalox or deoxit. Whats the best way to clean the firing pin? I've used rubbing alcohol/qtip and an eraser...

I'd not recommend filing the batteries, because it will just introduce more scratches to the surface.
I would recommend you get some Noalox and put a blob on the battery and the firing pin. You are cleaning the pin the right way and when eventually the gold plating wears off the Noalox will help prevent arcing.

if your firing pin/spring are gold colored then it is VERY BAD to file ANYTHING. just do what ya been doing: qtip/alky or gentle eraser, then noalox or deoxit

I went to Lowe's too and nobody there knew what it was (you'll likely find it in the electrical section)
A small bottle will last you years. Since my Lowe's was 300 000 square feet, i came home and ordered it from Amazon!

Yep, electrical section - near the electrical connectors and/or electrical tools (both of those are usually in the same aisle)... I've also had this issue with my batteries - VTC5s. I have cleaned them thoroughly and applied noalax at every other charge on each battery to start with, and now every charge... the contact pin looks fine, but I have cleaned that and applied noalax about half the rate of the batteries. I'm getting fed up with it, because it doesn't go away, it just seems to prolong it for a single charge on a battery. It doesn't sound like others have this issue as much as I do... I think I'll try different batteries, since I only have two that I trust to use in my grand right now anyway - need at least two more...

I'm glad I stumbled across this thread. I've been noticing that my silver hammer tone REO #2 hts slightly harder than REO #1, which is black anodized. Same build on both. Odin with .5 ohm dual coils. I just finished taking out the spring, and sanding the area under where the spring sits, down to bare metal. I Noaloxed the area, and replaced the spring. I also put a teeny dab of Noalox on the positive contact. What a difference! Hits like Tyson now. Thanks for the tip.

This is the cleaner I use on older contacts great for neglected flashlites or anything that's had a battery corrode in it. But that is just a cleaner,

To follow up on my post...I went ahead and ordered both those products from amzon (super fast shipping with a free trial of amazon prime btw, and I got the Gold Pen instead of the gel)....Anyway I used the "D100L" cleaner first and used the "g100" (gold pen) second...and WOW, I think Im saved now! I might even order the Deoxit "Shield" soon, just to have around.. I cleaned the firing pin and battery...Haven't taken out the spring and cleaned and applied it to that yet but will soon.

That's great! Glad it worked for you. deoxit gold is shield for gold plated contacts, the regular shield, S100L is for regular contacts and cost less too.
