Oh yea...this thing is hitting really good. Way better than it did new. I've actually got some good airflow now.
Forgot to mention that I enlarged the hole in the bottom of the cup to get the better air flow.

Finally put together a repairable CE2 using the 'paper clips hooked into the inside of the cup' method. Made a SS mesh wick too. This is AWESOME!!!

Finally put together a repairable CE2 using the 'paper clips hooked into the inside of the cup' method. Made a SS mesh wick too. This is AWESOME!!!

The CE2 I rebuilt today initially metered out at 2.4 ohms. After vaping on it over a couple of hours, I noticed it was dropping off in vapor. Checked it again and is reading 1.3 ohm. Not sure what happened; was busy so just put it aside until I can check it out some more. It was my first coil - first SS wick - first foray into rebuilding an atty/carto; so could be anything or a combination of things.

I can change the setup to a line genesis or CE2 just by changing the wick with the stainless steel mesh or silica rope only. In the last post I have actually combined the two into one. The benefits of the silica rope wicking abilities and the nice clean taste og the stainless steel mesh combines very good.
where can i get the needle things I need and also what dimentions should i cut my mesh if i make a mesh wick for the ce2?
I ordered some 27 gauge SS tubing from eBay. I haven't received it yet; but have made a repairable CE2 using locke's technique of using paper clips and hooking over the wick slots of the ceramic cup from the outside (see this post from this thread http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/atomizer-mods/213659-repairable-ce2-3.html#post5096350). Actually after finishing one using this technique, I went ahead and soldered the paper clips onto two other CE2s. I still have a few
CE2s that I'll try with the 27 gauge tubing when it gets here.If you are using a XL CE2, cut SS mesh ~2.75 - 3 inches x 1/2 inch. Straighten a small paper clip out and roll the mesh onto the wire; this takes some practice, but hey if I can do it, anyone can
. If you don't have any of the mesh yet, you can get this from eBay also. I got some from this seller - WOVEN WIRE MESH STAINLESS STEEL 400 MESH 4"X6" FILTRATION | eBayETA: Be sure to 'oxidize' the mesh wick before using. Once you have it rolled, heat to red hot with a flame (I used a butane torch) and then immediately dunk into a container of tap water; repeat 2 more times. This creates an oxide layer on the SS and makes it non-conductive.

Made one with a short ss wick a-la "stardust". The wick is just long enough to scrape the inside of the tube as it goes on. It is wicking great (obviously must tip it). I used 36 gauge nicrome60 and made a 4.5 ohm coil. I'm only using the middle seal and no leaking. I'm using it with my PWM mod at a higher duty cycle. This is my best vape yet! Now I just need to order some 36awg kanthal for higher resistance as 4.5 completely fills the cup with coil.
heh, heh. When I was ordering Kanthal, the smallest on eBay was 32 awg I'm wrapping 5 or 6 times and still only getting ~1.6 ohms 
Got some 34 Kanthal and 36 nichrome on order. Of course, only using this carto on my ACDC mod in AC mode; getting >0.5V drop off when using the DC mode (2 14500 TFs) and don't wanna tax my batts too much.
I used a long SS wick and was able to slip the tube over everything. Didn't put any seals in. Haven't had any seals in my CE2s for a while now; just drip down the drip tip to refill. Getting great wicking with the SS wick.

Have had some issues with the SS mesh wick. Got the 34 awg Kanthal and 36 awg nichrome in. Also got in some silica sleeveing from McMaster Carr. Put another r-CE2 together using the paper clips hooked over from the outside and using the silica wick. Wrapped a coil using 34 awg Kanthal and getting ~2.2 ohm. Vaping great.
Just need to stockpile some nicquid and I'll be ready for the Apocalypse.

I find that resistor legs are a good replacement for the Safety needle/Paperclip hooks.
You don't have to make the holes bigger in the cup, they fit in perfectly, the only downsides i can see are that they are not stainless steel (but that is what makes them solder so well) and they are ALOT softer (easier to bend into hooks but might snap after repeated use).

this is interesting, I can't really tell what you mean though from the pic. could you explain a little more?
also, to the OP and in general, are safety pins and paper clips made of the same material? Will they both work from this application?
Also, any concern for 'bad stuff' leaching off the clips and into the juice, and into the vape?
I just turned a wire around the bare center/air post making 3 turns and then twisted the wire ends to tighten the coil around the post. A single wire strand of the twisted wire goes through the ceramic cup hole. With the negative connection, I turned the wire just 2 times around the o-ring groove (I removed the o-ring) and then twisted wire ends to tighten. Again, just taking a single strand goes through the second hole.
Below is an illustration of the technique (using a tie wrap around a pen) ...

It's a SmokTech DCT I got from MadVapes last November when it first came out. It has an eGo adapter from GreenHouseOne inserted in the bottom cap to serve as the CE2 base.

eGo Vision Stardusts are rebuildable. Pretty easy to do too!
