Following up on my post about asking Lipton about their tea bag paper --
I received a prompt email directing me to their Unilever U.S. Consumer Response Center at 1-800-697-7887. I called and was asked for the UPC of the bags I was using, which happened to be ordinary decaffeinated tea. Was put on hold while the rep looked up the information.
Answer: No thermoplastics. They use a mechanical crimp, rather than the 'heat seal' type of paper. I asked specifically if Lipton bags were completely organic, and she said all their bags are made from hemp.
So seems to be a reasonable and handy option with no worries about plastic fumes. I still cut the center seam out just to make them more uniform for packing, probably not really necessary.

Hey Ann it might be that you actually need quite a bit 'less' I can see air gaps down to the bottom of my cart I have so little paper rolled up and that's how it seems to work the best ..but I shall have to try the coffee filter paper to see how that works as well I haven't tried that particular paper..
I tried the coffee filter last night and this A.M. Am now using a tea bag. I did cut the seam out even though it seems to be crimped. Still can't tell if it has any type of glue on it. The coffee filter seemed to work just fine and the tea bag as well. Still too early to declare a winner. I'm really happy to have found some other type filler material, as I was also worried about inhaling burnt poly. It seemed to me that worn out poly filler created a kind of frothy type texture in the back of my mouth/throat and the vapor seemed to be heavier or thicker.
Howdy - am new to this whole e-cig thing... but have read all the pages etc... and kast night tried the paper towel - seemed to work great! Will try the teabag today.
I do have a question though... last night, along with trying the paper towel... I also "refilled" a few of my normal carts... (I have the Npro), used about 4 drops... and now this afternoon, grabbed one that I refilled (reusing the default stuff/wick) and found that it does not seem that good, hard to pull etc...
I guess the question is, when you refill, can you leave then carts for a period of time? Or should you refill and vape same day etc? Because if I refill and vape within an hour or so, seems fine.... but again, one from last night... seems like its no good today (just refilling an existing cart with default "stuff" inside).
I have not tried a paper towel one from last night... so will try that shortly and see if it made it fine overnight.... anyways, so far, with immediate vaping, PT wins, teabag next. But am curios on staying power.... as I would like to refill 10-20 of these and use over a week?

I've been using the teabags for several hours now. Tried a few different amounts from a lot of filler to very little. I tend to agree w/Pete on his "less is more" theory, however, it applies to the amount of liquid as well. The teabag seems to wick liquid so well, that if you fill up the cart the same as you would with poly, you end up with a mouthfull of liquid.
Tea bags (Wal-Mart brand decaf) are working great for me. I wasn't having any issues with the poly-fil other than stray fibers, but I was noticing a bit of a plastic taste lately.
Using 1/8th of an English Co-op fairtrade round tea-bag seems to work well. Round bags make a funnel shape which is easier to fit into the cart without it scrunching up. Any more than 1/8th and I wasnt getting any vapour. This is in a DSE901 cart. I didn't realise quite how far the wick enters the cartridge until I did this with tissue paper and saw the indentation. The tea-bag doesnt have to be flush with the top of the 901 cart and seems to work better when its lower than the top edge. I guess that depends on the wick tho', some seem higher than others.
Also, using paper towels or tissue seemed to produce paper taste after a while which wasn't particularly nice.

I tried this with my EVO last night. It holds about 15 drops of fluid, and more vapor than with the original poly.
This forum continues to be priceless. Read through this thread and immediately dumped a Lipton tea bag. An earlier post made mention of rolling the paper around a dowel and sliding it into the cart, I used the ink cartridge from a standard ball-point pen.

My oh my but this works sooooooo well! Tried this on my Dura-C and 4075, gotta be careful to not overfill of course. Draw is so much better and the tea-bag seems to wick out much more thoroughly.

I just tried it today in my M401, a lipton bag. and it just seems to retain more liquid than it dispenses. i used 1/2 of the bag (as i read here somewhere) then cut to fit the cart. then after putting on the cart i use a paperclip inside the draw hole to lightly tap it down so it makes contact.
when it stops vaping, the teabag is still very moist.

I must add, I am using my homemade USB passthru that has a superlight draw. That maybe part of the problem (i only drip on it usually with a blank mouthpiece). I will try it with a battery tomorrow.
