32 Gage Nichrome is 10.6 ohms per foot
34 Gage Nichrome is 17 Ohms per foot

so, for 32 ga, 10.6 ohms/12 = 0.8833 ohms per inch. in order to make a coil that is 1.5 ohms you need a R wire that is 1.69 inches long.

for 34 ga, 17 ohms/12 = 1.4166 ohms per inch. In order to make a coil that is 1.5 ohms you need a R wire that is 1.06 inches long.

Now, that is the length of the R wire that is between the 2x NR wires.

This clears up a LOT!

But now with Imeo saying the wire he sent was 0,15 fat, I'm not really sure which wire gauge we're talking about anymore. Was the wire Imeo included the 32 or 34 gauge wires you talked about Zoranth, or a different one all together?

American wire gauge - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I figured it out to be 34.5 AWG, but I don't claim to even be amateur level when it comes to this stuff. I'm sure someone will correct me if I am wrong. And I don't really see any half-sizes. Or maybe there is a different system that is close but not identical.

According to my measurements using a digital caliper. The "R" wire I got with my Oddy is 0.005" which is 36 ga wire. If it is Nichrome wire that would make it 27 ohms/foot. 27/12=2.25 ohms per inch. So, to make a 1.5 ohm coil you would need 0.667" "R" wire between the "NR" wires to get 1.50075 ohms ;)

0.75" or 3/4" would be 1.575 ohms

Data obtained from here Nichrome Wire

I just ordered a multimeter for $10 from Bruce. Will that work for me?
I bought that one and it's a tiny meter but works. You will need to let both leads touch to get the resistance from the leads, then subtract that from every reading you get. Mine says 0.4, so If my reading is say 1.9ohms, I actually have 1.5ohms.
