I think your partially correct, I get USPS packages from all over with usually get good tracking. Not so with HALO through POMPTON PLAINS and it's NJ sort location. My last three orders were bungled by those locations! One was marked Out For Delivery in NJ and showed up the NEXT DAY in Vegas. My current order I made early AM Fri 5/17 on Sat is showed Electronic Info received (we all know what that means now, label printed) no other tracking, no acceptance, sorting etc. until it hit Vegas and magically showed up today MON!!!! I think HALO has to have a talk with the NJ Postmaster, they don't seem to be matching the rest of the country regarding tracking. Course I can't complain about delivery this time Order Fri, receive in Vegas on Mon, for first class delivery is great.
It's not just the Pompton Plains, NJ post office. I've had similar incidents with stuff coming from different places. They're very inconsistent with tracking. Sometimes they're right on top of it, other times they're not. As far Pompton Plains goes, that wasn't the only sort facility that saw that package. I don't know USPS's system, but when I worked at UPS, every package got scanned on its way in and out. Came in on a tractor trailer, got scanned before it hit the sort isle; went into the trailer I loaded, got scanned before it was loaded; went into a brown delivery truck, it was scanned. Basically, every doorway it went through, there was a guy with a scan gun. For it to say electronic info received in NJ and then nothing until its on your porch means a lot of people in a lot of facilities didn't do their job. Or that USPS's computers are antiquated.
As far as talking with the postmaster, they're just as open to suggestions and criticism as the DMV is. Ever argue with the DMV? Talk about an exercise in futility.
Aside from tracking, USPS is as good at delivering as anyone else. They get stuff where it needs to be in a timely fashion as good as anyone else.
