I've never messed up since, but one thing I learned in all that is that the second time you quit smoking is harder than the first.. and the third time is even harder than that.
I agree. I also think that, in addition to the reasons you go on to mention, the fact is that when you fail once, you know you can, and that makes it easier to fail again. I quit for eleven years and had nary an urge to smoke for ten of them. I could be in a crowd of smokers, and the only urge I had to fight was the one to escape the smell of the smoke. When I started up again--for all kinds of foolish, emotional reasons--I stopped trusting myself.

This is my sixth time. The others lasted from 3 months to 5 years. The 5 year success was, in no small part, due to my vaping no nic.

vaping was the only time I was able to quit smoking even for a day. I couldn't even quit when the doctors told me I was going to die if I didn't - and i tried everything... The patch, Welbutrin/Zyban, Chantix, gum, any combination of drugs and nicotine replacement therapies..

It wasn't until vaping came around that I could manage not smoking, to me it's a miracle.

However, I've tried three times now to quit vaping and I'm less successful with that. 6 months is the longest I've managed both smoke and vapor free.

It's starting to seem I'll always have to vape in order to stay off cigarettes.. That's not a bad thing I suppose because it's worlds better than smoking..

:)

Maybe someone here can help me with fighting the demon of craving for cigs? Nic is not the problem since i have more nic in my vape then in the cigs

Search the forums here for WTA (whole tobacco alkaloids). That may help.

becose...I'd second the thought of your trying some WTA...(how could it hurt???)...

Since you DIY...Opinionated had suggested Unflavored Umbavape-WTA...

I find (for me) nicotine-6mg. to be equivalent to WTA-18mg....but if you're going to just add some to your regular DIY nicotine ejuice...I'd probably get WTA-24mg...

WTA can be somewhat expensive...but it's ON SALE until 5/17 for $7.99/120ml...(the $39.99 changes after you add it to the cart)...

So long time vaper here but as some of you did, went back to cigs. Reason was drastic changes in my life and lots and lots of stress. Funny, one day i woke up and i just felt i NEEDED a cig the rest was just a continuance.....

So now i'm trying to get back on the vape. The first time i changed almost imediate but this time i find myself struggling not to smoke cigs. I make my own juice, coils and all the shabam so i know what i'm doing. I have top devices that work well, need a couple of new tanks but that's all. Just don't get the satisfaction from vaping, maybe its in my head. Reduced from 20cigs a day to around 8-10 so there is some improvement.

Maybe someone here can help me with fighting the demon of craving for cigs? Nic is not the problem since i have more nic in my vape then in the cigs

Beco

I wish you the best. There are a lot of people here that can be much more helpful than I can. Try starting a new thread, and help will flock your way.

The one thing I can contribute is that it's hard to even look at a cigarette once you've vaped enough nicotine. For me, anyway. Sometimes I break down because I'm not vaping enough.

The antidepressant version of the drug is called Wellbutrin. Dosages and delivery are different for depression treatment and smoking cessation. It's one of those things--neurologists noticed that many of their patients who were using Wellbutrin also stopped smoking. Just like they noticed that people with bipolar disorder who also have epilepsy stopped having seizures after taking a new class of drugs.

I messed up. Zyban and Wellbutrin are the same drug. Chantix is a different drug, which is still being studied for use as an anti-depressant.

We all mess up. Me, no doubt, more than others.. You have given me some food for thought though. I have an appt. w/ my neurologist tomorrow morning. Another EEG for me, because I had 3 seizures more than a month ago. I'm gonna talk to him about these thoughts, and the next time I see my psychiatrist, I'm gonna talk to him also about the anti-depressant thing. I have absolutely no intention on trying it though..

Well, today was the first day this time around that I broke the quarter pack mark. Four cigarettes. After about 8pm or so, I don't want them any more. It's a quarter after ten now, and I'm going to bed soon.

Vaping 25mg salt nic in max VG. Added orange to the flavor rotation today.

Hello all. I'm also an old timer that is returning. However I never went back to smoking. I gradually weaned my nicotine content in my juice until I was at 0mg/ml. At that point, I just lost interest in vaping and quit without even trying. I was smoke-free and vape-free for a couple of years, then one day, on a whim, I picked up a disposable vape pen at a convenience store and I've been vaping ever since. I haven't been picky on my equipment and couldn't tell you the name of my unit, but am looking for something better. I DIY my own juice at 10mg/ml and am happy with that.

Welcome back! There’s so much out on the market now. Can you narrow down what you’d like? Size of mod , drop in coil or rebuildable coil tank, internal vs external battery, mtl or dl? I’m a low watt mtl vaper, but you’re sure to find someone who has similar likes for recommendations

I had a moment last night.

I lit up a cigarette, my 4th of the day. It was hard lighting it up, but the cigarette demons are strong, as pretty much everyone reading this knows. So I lit it, and took about 5 puffs or so. Then another two to be sure.

I wanted to hit the vape. Right then. The cigarette wasn't satisfying. I needed more nicotine than the cigarette was delivering, and I had a much more pleasant choice to achieve that aim.

I put the cigarette in the snuffer and took a couple, maybe three, nice long dtl draws. Then switched to mtl, being more cigarette like. Plus, I don't want to get nic sick, which isn't hard to do at 25mg.

After dinner, I took all of the tobacco stuff off of my desk. I cleaned up all of the ashes everywhere. I threw the snuffer away. Gross. I left a small ashtray and a lighter for my wife. I took my last pack of cigarettes and put it with my wife's cigarettes. There's only two left, and she likes a full flavored cigarette now and then. Now she can't steal my cigarettes anymore, which is just starting to sink in.

There are parts of my daily routine that I still need to fill in. No more cigarette/coffee breaks. Less coffee, too, since it's a cigarette trigger. I'm taking shorter breaks, and only to take breaks, since I can vape pretty much anywhere in the house, so there's no reason to have to sit at my desk in order to do it. I'm getting used to taking little "vape breaks".

Anyway, I'm happy to be a non smoking vaper again :)

I didn’t change my routine, I just changed where/how I did it.For example..... Instead of coffee, newspaper and stinkies on the porch, I moved inside to the den and had coffee and vape with the morning news. I never smoked inside, so that may not work for everyone. But, just changing location, or the timing helped me. Lucky that you’ve id.ed what your triggers are! Fingers crossed for your success!!!

Electro...I think you've hit the proverbial nail on its proverbial head...

I switched primarily for the health advantages...

I was a little surprised when I found my breath/clothes/car/home no longer stank...and somewhat shocked when my banner started showing me the amount of money I was saving...

But...I continue to vape because it's...like you say...so much more pleasant than smoking!!!

I'm looking to chase some more clouds. I'm using a VV/VW with a 0.5 ohm coil and getting just so-so vape out of it. I think it might be the VG level in my juice though. It is only 15%. I'm going to try upping that first and see if that helps.

I like cool, big clouds. I get that with low power equipment and VG. I buy salt nicotine in 100% VG base. I use salt nicotine because it's less harsh and more--pleasant--than freebase. My ejuice recipe is nicotine in VG base with enough pure VG to arrive at the proper dilution. I'm currently at 25mg. Then I add .5% of a 60/40 solution of purified water and ethanol. This makes it flow better without adding any harsh PG. I mix, then pour it into a pump bottle.

To make juice, I pump the mixture into a graduated bottle, and add 0.15%-0.5% flavoring. I like to keep it low enough so the flavor covers up the taste of the cotton, but not much more than that. Another thing to remember is that 100% VG is a lot sweeter than juice that has a substantial amount of PG.

Vaping this in Nautilus 2, Kabukis, and Subtank Minis at about 10W. 1.2-1.8 ohms. Lots of cool, soothing vapor, which delivers nicotine quite well, indeed.

Nothing wrong with dual use while you're trying to ween your body off the cigs.
