So I replaced my cotton last night, 3 days was enough I figured, it was getting yellowish. Not a big difficult thing, I did it when I changed the battery. Cut off the ends of the wick, pull out with tweezers while holding the coil steady with my fingernail. I burnt the coil gunk off, amazing how it went from black to silver again!

I do want to redo the coil, I think more wraps would make a better vape. It's kinda harsh sometimes, usually right after a squonk. So I think I need more wraps. After the move which takes place tomorrow...

Anyway just thinking replacing the wick hardly constitutes fiddling when it takes less than 5 minutes and no stress. So I'll stick with cotton, now...

My second RBA 2 came in today Now both are coiled, wicked and vaping great!

Sennie, your coil looks like its sitting too low. The air is probably just grazing the top of the coil while the rest of it is hiding behind the threads of the base. Put your screw driver back in it and lift it up so the bottom clears the edge. Air will go over the top and bottom giving a much better vape.

*nods* - i wrap it on silica as best i can and blowtorch the lot! Wire - wick and all. It's easier to mess with the wick then and if you cut the wick it cuts a lot more cleanly after a good rasping with that.

After all - if i never used the torch, HRH would use it to make meringues that have crispy tops.

It misses all the "it tastes crap only for the first 6 hits" - no no. If i wanted that i'd buy coils and a Provari, promptly curse both and carry on as before.

wrap coil on silica - hold wick at one end - make it all glow red with a torch, after all - if i didn't use the blowtorch the wife would assume it was just for creme brulees.

I do it about cherry red on the coil and a little less on the wick. What i find is that the coil tastes non-metallic and the wick cuts squarely when i fit it and lop the ends off.

I also have a fascination for blowtorches.

i reckon it's a #47 but it'd not shock me if it were metric.

Also depends on what you use it for - if at the base of the RM2, then a 013 will work (to stop you overtightening it) - if it's to use in the middle of the RM2 - where the 2 pieces of metal align, SXD reckons the one that comes with it can be stretched to allow you to line up air hole and coil.

Finally got the cotton. Wrapped a 1~ ish coil 8 wraps of 28ga. Saweeeet!

I'm loving the micro coil and cotton. The coils seem to stay "Silver". Most coils I've made with silica turn black right away. Maybe I'm just going crazy.

Now I need to complete my collection of Reo's. Must have Reo Grand. (and another RM2) My wallet hates me.

I twisted my own arm and dern near broke it, So I gave into myself and ordered #3 RBA 2 , milled down for my Red mini. Hope hubby does not notice He makes coils for me. I hope he has developed color blindness and does not realize there are 3 different colors

So I want to build my second coil today...and I can't find the info I'm looking for now :/ Why oh WHY didn't I bookmark it...lol Can someone point me in the direction of info on how many ohms per inch for different gauges of wire? I'm using 30 gauge I bought from Reosmods. ALso - is that Kanthal wire, or ?

I'm also a bit confused on the flavor/ohms issue. Do I want lower ohms for more flavor, or higher? I would like to build the PERFECT coil for me

Here's the chart. The flavor/ohms will really depend on your juice. But, if it's too hot (low, low ohms) it'll taste burnt....I think that's the connection. Some juices are more delicate than others. It really is just a matter of personal preference, though. I vape mostly fruity juices, and I usually wrap a 1.4 - 1.8 ohm coil. It also depends on the REO....if you vape with a VV Grand, then you can wrap higher ohm coils, then just adjust the voltage on the VV to the place where your juice tastes the best. Yes, I'm sure it's Kanthal A1.

There's always SOME valid reason to get another REO.......it's a sickness, I tell you....! Joking aside, I do love my VV Grand. It's the one I use most of the time. I don't have to be all that precise on my coils.....the VV Grand always makes them perfect.

Actually I'm saving for a mini right now - I love my grand, but it is a bit big in the hand for public vaping If I didn't have to get my car fixed AGAIN!! *sigh* on Monday I'd probably order NOW...hehehe

Although a coworker saw my Grand sitting out the other day, she thought it was a remote control. I have to say that's a bit better than the 'personal vibrator' comments I got on my previous mod...

Absolutely adore my VVGs, too, but one of many, many reasons to have the mechanicals is for dirty, dusty, gritty, mucky, muddy, greasy/oily, wet (take your picks) times (most all much a part of my existance and work). And with the advent of RM2 and so much wonderful info about we can make our mechanicals into virtual VVs.

BTW... Many things I adore about VV REOs but two prominent reasons.... well three... I love the side button. I can use the same coil for all day and evening vaping voltage and then wake up to same REO, same coil I went to sleep with (frequently sleeping with it in my hand - I'm one of those rare peeps who rarely moves during sleep except to turn head position - but I don't usually sleep very many hours without waking up) and then, on waking, lower the voltage a bit till throat "toughens up" without having to do anything other than slight wheel adjustment. Other major thing I love is size for relaxing time (when relatively clean person and environment - major word "relatively") as it is much easier for my not too large, female hands, with arthritis and some loss of fine motor control due to nerve damage in neck, to grasp and control. I still have trouble grasping them when I get too relaxed in hot tub.

Just got RM2 and the draw is a little tight, any suggestions? On Rob's video he has the coils snug to the 2 posts yet when I look at pics I see coils away from posts, any difference. I know about keeping it off the floor of the atty. Thanks

Make sure the air hole isn't plugged.
