Well, if the Vamo e-peen measuring is done, I'd like to post an after thought.

I just dropped my atomizer deck of my RSST from a counter top onto hard floor. The bottom lip (that goes over the top of the tank) bent inward a little. Pretty disappointing considering the AGA is sturdier than that at the same price point, but oh well. Be careful with your RSST guys. Other than that, it performs as good as your build.

And also to add to what's already been said about those saying the spring trap will cause inconsistencies; not sure where you're getting that from but I'm having zero issues.

Secondly, the insulator melting concern. I built up a new coil and brushed the coils with them glowing red constantly, not pulsing, and the atomizer deck got so hot it was painful to touch. Didn't see any issue with the insulator. I'm pretty sure it's fine.

I will. I was aking for the opinion of someone what has tried it. Thank you for proving my point. You sir have achieved the pinnacle of some fantastic dou.che.baggery. But we all knew that, your t-shirt told us everything we need to know before you said anything. A proud walking buzzkill. Canada, lol.

i could really care less what you think of me :p

I just find it amusing that your post came off snobbish, while you were calling others snobs.
not the brightest thing to do. when calling yourself smarter for purchasing a Vamo....
so i felt obligated to respond the way i did.

this was fun, we should do this in person some day

I have found the 500 to have better wicking capabilities over either the 325 or 400 regardless what type of PG/PV ratio the juice was.

It depends on your vaping style, and juice, I guess. All a wick has to do is keep up with however and whatever you vape, in supplying juice to the coil. I vape 70PG/30VG to 60PG/40VG juices, and see no difference between 400 and 500.

Greetz Rule.

I run solid SS 500 wicks often 150mm long+ to accommodate larger wick holes. I have found 500 to wick faster.

Do any of you guys have any wicking issues with 500ss mesh running SLR coils?

If i dont tilt i get dry hits after 2 descent inhales....

I roll tight solid wicks, and stick to a 50/50 blend with fill hole open....

I've been wrapping my coils to 1.1ohms, because no mater how i roll it, i cant get it to wick quick enough to keep up with a 0.8ohm coil...

The tilt and wait method is annoying....
I've been rolling ceramic fibre into the core of the 500 just to keep the juice flow going... but its not what i would ideally want to do...

I use either 400 or 500 in my mechanicals, with .9Ω coils, and either one wicks fine, for me. But I'm a natural 'tilter', ever since my CE2 vaping days.

I always tilt too. Even on ceramic where I don't need to, I do anyways because the vape is better.

I roll tight solid wicks, and stick to a 50/50 blend with fill hole open....
Only thing I can think of is use larger solid wicks the full size of the wickhole itself, as they hold more juice. I had a 4mm (5/32) diameter 220mm SS 500 wick on one of my AGA-T2 and you couldn't dry that puppy out if you tried. But even here, tipping still made for the better vape.

What kind of genny have you got?

Now if you built a top reservoir on a ceramic wick, then tilting won't make any difference.

Ok guys... Here is my take on mesh. 500 has greater vertical wicking capability than 400, 300 etc, when wicks are rolled the same way (tightness, etc..) However 500 will have a slower flow rate than 400, etc.. Flow meaning when you are tilting and not relying solely on capillary action. The more open the space in your wick, the fast your flow rate will be. So for example, 200 mesh will have a greater flow rate than 300, 400, 500 etc, it depends upon the open space in the mesh and the tightness of rolling.

So if you dont tilt, you may hit a limit on the juice capacity that is in the mesh if your vape is consuming more juice than the wick can supply by capillary action. If you are using low res coil you need more juice supply. So you can either loosen up your 500 to increase the distance between layers or use a lower grade mesh or a combination of meshes like 500 and 200 to try to optimize both mechanism.

One set up that I found worked well was a 50/50 split, 200 mesh (60% open porosity) on this inside and 500 mesh (26% open porosity) on the out side. It helps even out the extremes of vaping vertical or having to look like I am guzzlin a beer.

But it really all depends upon how you like to vape. Just my 2c

BTW...back on topic. I am really enjoying the RSST with a "pdib" special twisted tube SS wick :)

The wicks i make fill up the wick hole completely, slides in with the slightest bit of resistance....
and i leave about 3-4mm of the wick above the coil for the "reservoir".

i think may actually just be rolling it WAY too tight.... a lot of practice in highschool....

Im still playing around with wicks, who knows maybe one day, the perfect wick will just happen.

If i tilt i am fine, but two hits off of a .7 and it just tastes like funk....
My juices are sweet flavours, so they do get the burnt taste a lot quicker than other types.

Greetz Buzz.

I'm just relaying what has, and how it has worked for me. Super-tight rolls work for me, but only with thick wicks -- they tend to also leak less when layed down. Add a 28ga/.8mm Kanthal wire to the mix, and I haven't a complaint in the world.

I can see with your juices you may have to tread fine waters. Goes to show one size does indeed not fit all.
