Rush Limbaugh VAPES!

I feel a little ambivalent about Rush vaping. On one hand, he provides positive publicity. But I fear that in the worse-case scenario, e-cigs will be some sort of political issue. I've seen other conservatives, like scharzenegger, support ecigs, while liberals, like jerry brown, have fought against it.

let's hope that this doesn't turn into a left vs. right issue, but rather, it should be something that we can share a collective understanding (like here on ECF).

This. Rush vapes? Cool. vaping is good. Cancer is bad.

I'll abstain from saying what I think of Rush politically, but the fact is simple, and I think everyone can agree on it: he is fiercely political, and often divisive.

I don't want vaping to turn into a political issue. If he wants to simply make people aware of vaping, and promote its use, fantastic. Hop on board, Rush.

But my fear is that this will turn into a left vs. right battle. And that isn't good for anyone.

I want to see someone who is apolitical talking about this issue.

I am cautiously apprehensive, and yet hopeful, about Rush doing it.

Cant help but feel this is already fairly political mainly because the anti's have always been political and they are the ultimate enemy. (Remember only fat cat republican's smoke big fancy cigars, etc) And anytime you fight the FDA you are diving head long into a political minefield. Remember these are the people who 'approve' Chantix even though it can make you suddenly snap and .....

Love the idea of a celeb vaping in front of a national audience, although not sure I'm 'for' his brand, but that's a typical mine vs yours argument that will never be settled here. Wonder if he's concerned about the FDA's attempts to ban it or is he focused on other issues like 99% of the country.

I feel like a member of a fringe group. Being a smoker was bad enough feeling like a member of a maligned and hated group, but at least smokers had enough vested interests behind them to fight to minimize the damage unless you live in CA, then you might as well be a crack fiend if you smoke. At this point any PR is good PR. Guess I feel like beggars cant be choosers.

Maybe we should fill his box with emails encouraging him to talk about the FDA's heavy handed assault on our beloved PV's??

I could hope for a less divisive celebrity, personally. However, I am happy for anyone who discovers this as a viable option to cigarette smoking. I also hope this is not turned into a lft/rght political issue. Honstly, as many times as I have tried unsuccessfully to quit smoking? This is the very first time I've felt anything like or close to victory. Cibarettes are as damaging to the spirit and the psyche as they are to the body and I really don't want this to become something that polarizes people.

Someone with a e-cig business needs to get him something that definitely won't have problems. It will not only avoid the "This piece of ___ just stopped working" type comment, it would get that business a bunch of publicity. I hope he is an enthusiast and not a passer by just trying it out so he can make a judgment.

The fact that these things are literally life savers, should be above any kind of political lines. If he can bring attention to this community even if its not always good, I'd welcome it. Hopefully he will direct people here so they can get informed from a non biased source.

I'm usually politically on the other end of the world from Rush. No disrespect intended- we just see the world differently.

I'm quite happy for the exposure.

I'm happy, tickled pink, actually to be disrespectful towards the likes of Rush.
Rush is an incredibly wealthy, fat drug addicted actor who lies to poor people to coerce them into supporting issues that are against their best interest. If there were a hell, there would be a special place in it for people like Rush.

That being said, Any positive exposure is good, I guess

As usual, I agree with you 100%. Isn't he just doing a paid promotion? No different than any commercial running on his or anyone else's show. And who is surprised by which company is paying for ad space? LOL:closedeyes:

Yes.
I'm not sure if the dittoheads are aware of this but Rush has admitted publicly that he's not really interested in politics. This is just his job. He doesn't really believe the things he tries to get people fired up about.

It's all about getting paid with Rush, and Glen Beck too.

At the same time, it is good that e-cigs are getting some positive exposure. I just hope this isn't some ploy by Rush to increase the chances of getting them banned just so he can go into a rage about it.

:offtopic: This whole left/right battle that's going on in this country is only dividing it further. If the people of both sides would just open their minds a bit to see that there is common ground that can be agreed upon and do whats right for the people of this country. The right hates any idea that comes from the left just because it came from the left. Same goes with the far left. It's people like Rush that try to drive the wedge deeper between the people.

OK my off topic rant is over. You may now return to your regularly scheduled program.:D

Ok, I know this shouldn't be discussed here, this really belongs in the outside forum, but I feel compelled to make this point.
I agree wholeheartedly with the idea that this whole "right, left, pick a team" syndrome that our country is experiencing is divisive and unhealthy but look at who's driving the wedges. The right has Rush, Glen, O'Reiley, the fine "journalists" at "Fox & friends" regurgitating made up, divisive talking points every day. Who does that on the left? Can't think of a soul. Where is the media outlet for the left? Rupert Murdoch (fine american there, oh wait, he's Austrailian) has all of the above mentioned jokers on speed dial so he can pull those puppet strings at a moments notice.
The truth is that the left has been in defense mode against this neo-con onslaught for decades.

Whew, ... OK. I feel better now.

If you have a link or source for this I'd be very curious as this is my first time hearing it.

I'm no fan of Rush(to put it mildly) but I can't see how he can hurt the cause of vaping whereas I see a lot of upside potential.
