That's *really* putting things in perspective! I am ready to believe ; )

Bigfoot: 9,560,000 results [Google]
Loch Ness Monster: 1,500,000 results
Tooth Fairy: 4,490,000 results
e-cigarettes unsafe: 277,000 results

I'll have to believe in Bigfoot, the Loch Ness Monster, and the Tooth Fairy _first_.

Barring that, show me some real science instead of hysteria.

I really prefer to look at it from a logical perspective:

I can count the compounds in e-juice on one hand. I need a relational database to keep track of the same for traditional cigarettes.

The compounds I can count on one hand are largely food-grade. The compounds and chemicals I can't count without assistance in traditional cigarettes are largely known-deadly toxins.

Are they "safe"? Unlikely. Nothing is "safe" in our biosphere. We're fragile critters. It's a question of dosage. Drink too much distilled water, throw your electrolyte balance out, and kiss your .... goodbye.

Are they "safer"? Barring any decent science, which I've yet to see, the logical point-of-view is pretty clear to me. Radioactive isotopes, arsenic, formaldehyde, acetaldehyde, benzopyrene, lead, acetone, ammonia, turpentine, butane, ... Those seem like good things to eliminate from my daily diet.

If you don't smoke - don't start vaping. Duh.

If you do smoke, it's pretty simple to ask yourself, logically, which list of ingredients is the lesser of two evils.

I don't know if it could be stated any more succinctly than this. Well done. :bowing:

I have had people take umbrage with my overly-simplistic assessment. Those same people mostly live in cities. The remainder in agricultural zones. Both of which have average air quality that will kill you just for lookin' at it, let alone breathing it 24/7/365. [shrug] Consider the source. :)

I did neglect the standard disclaimer: Not a doctor, unqualified to offer a medical opinion, YMMV, draw your own conclusions. Abstinence is still the best decision, especially when you have the luxury to ignore reality from the top of an ivory tower where smokers look like wee little ants.

Yer roll the dice and takes yer chances! That's what you said right Addy?
I look at it this way..I have been polluting my lungs for 37 years and before that, my mom and ex hubby did it for me. For the last (almost) 2 years since I started vaping, I feel better, breathe better, don't have morning cough, have lower B.P and Blood sugar readings. I doubt it has anything to do with luck.

That's kind of how I think, MK. I don't need to have any studies to tell me that I breathe better, have lower cholesterol readings, overall better health, and am recovering my voice. And, as I said in another thread, my Obstructive Sleep Apnea has improved tremendously since I started vaping. If there turns out to be a down side, I'll still be better off than I was smoking.

Something that has not been mentioned are the benefits of nicotine. YES, the benefits. Use "benefits of nicotine" in the quotes in a Google search. You might be amazed and the clinical proof of the benefits. I had just seen this Discovery Health "How can nicotine be good for me?" the other day. Combine that with the anti microbial properties of PG and now we have blown some arguments against E-Cigs out of the water.

BTW: read some of the other results in the search, very informative indeed. You could almost make a case for E-Cigs as being a benefit. (I won't use the H word here).

hey Morandir, have I ever told you that before vaping I was a newport smoker? maybe thats one of the reasons we get along! I love me my nicotine and caffeine! keeps me energized and regular! lol

another big reason for me to like nicotine is that I kinda suffer from major depression. being able to vape vape vape is a lot better at making me feel "better" than smoking smoking smoking!
