Hello All,

I'm new to DIY and using SBD's calculator and have a couple of questions.

I do zero nic in all my e-jucies and purchase all my flavors at TFA/TPA.

I'm using the PG No-Nic Calculator part of the calculator and trying to build out my recipes. I understand that the flavors in the recipes tab need to equal 100% but I get confused when I see a recipe like the following:

Apple Menthol
17%TPA Apple
3% TPA PG Menthol

How do I figure that into the calculator? Also I like strong flavors, do you think 20% flavoring is a good starting point?

Thanks for your help

I do NOT use any calculator, I am a PhD in Paritcle Physics, so I am a Math Whiz, not to mention, to me, Math is the only, FUN I have in my old age. I make all my own juices, with nic, and without. 20% WOULD be a lot, IF it were one flavoring, but, multiple flavorings, just start low, and bring up amount slowly. I generally use manufacturers recommendations as a starting point. Remember, the higher the VG/PG ratio is, the more muted the flavorings will taste. You need a fair bit more flavoing at 100% VG, or rather VG plus a bit of distilled, demin. water, rather than a VG/PG mix, say 70/30 VG/PG, which is the highest I mix. Any higher, and you can get issues with wicking, etc. Plus, it's like working with Peanut butter, it's so thick.

IF you think I can help, pls. do not hesitate to ask more questions, your question was somewhat open to interpretation.

It's pretty straightforward. Scubabatdan's calculator uses ratios for the flavoring and you set the total flavoring percentage. They don't really have to add up to 100, but it's good practice to do so.

So you know from the Apple Menthol recipe that the total favoring is 20% (17+3).
From the total, the apple is 17 of 20, or 17/20= 85%
From the total, the menthol is 3 of 20 or 3/20= 15%

Easy, huh?
