Screen names: How did you come up with yours?

Back in the old days of dial-up (and by dial-up, I mean 300/1200 baud times), the modem would translate phone static into garbage characters all over the screen. Those characters were referred to as line noise. I liked the term, so I took it.

Of course, this was also the same time when screen were generally limited to 8 characters, so I had to resort to spelling it funny. I've been using this name for so long, when I see the word 'noise' spelled correctly, I feel like I need to fix it.

I am a computer technician, and I was browsing a computer repair forum, it was my first time at this site. I noticed somebody had asked a question, but no one answered their question, so he posted again " What nobody know the answer". So, I signed up to the forum, chose the name just_a_nobody, and answered the person's question, since then, I have since used it for various forums.

The avatar is just my drivers license pic.

I'm a diehard fan of dirt track stock car racing. Victory Speedway was the name of our local dirt track in Middletown, NY. It is the oldest continuously operating dirt track in the United States. Automobiles first raced there in 1919. Except for the years 1942-1945 (WWII), there have been automobile races there every since.

But the speedway is older than that. It was built for horse racing at the Orange County Fair in... get this - 1857.

The name was changed to Orange County Fair Speedway in 1967.

I'm the track historian. If I had the time to freshen up the website, I'd post the URL. But the site is a mess, and not ready for public viewing.

Anyone in the NY Metro area who thinks he/she would enjoy a fun-filled, action-packed night at the speedway (April through September, with a three-day race fest in October) should let me know.

We'd have our own vaping section (smoking is prohibited in the grandstands...)

!!!

my screen name is very easy to guess:
"I Do e-Smoking" : actually I joined this forum with the intention to move from analog to zero nicotine vape.So :D

I started vaping just to cut down on smoking. I haven't smoked in 51 days. Zero nicotine would be nice, I may get there eventually too. I wish you good luck with your plan!

Connman comes from my last name Conn and being a male helped with the ending. A teacher used to call me that in High school as well.

I`ve always wondered how some of the user names happened now just to get all them to let the secret out. Thanks for the great idea on this thread and for those who participate.
