Reading this entire thread has given me some pause and food for thought...about vaping being irritating. When I bought my first ecig (Cig2o) I coughed every time I inhaled and immediately did some research and ordered VG e liguids to refill the cartos. As it turns out, I have found, not all the sites that sell "VG ejuice" are actually selling 100% VG. Many have PG or other ingredients for the flavors and whatever else they have to do to make the juice. Some juices I'm vaping make me sleepy, eyes burn, nasal irritation, etc. (just like when allergy season is in full bloom LOL). Other juices have no effect like that whatsoever! In any case, I'd rather be vaping than smoking the stinky cigs (which I'm discovering more and more as each day passes!) When I occasionally light up an analog, after 2 or 3 drags I put it out because analogs now seems too harsh! I just won't repeat my purchases from the ejuice suppliers that are giving me "allergy" symptoms and stick with the ones that are not causing any symptoms!
I'm getting used to vaping and not enjoying smoking analogs so much. In fact, some of the first ejuices I ordered had a "smoke" smell which my b/f sneered at. He thought I was actually smoking it was so realistic. Now I'm leaning to the more minty flavored ejuices LOL. :2c:

I know that for me, 100%vg juices hang for a LONG time. I was testing out some new flavors that were vg based in my room with the window open. I stopped after about 10 minutes and came back an hour later. The room was still quite cloudy/foggy. There's definitely every reason to believe that your roomie can "feel" the vapor in the air. Ive got another vaper in my house and I can definitely tell when they've been vaping. Not from the smell, but just from the feeling in the air. It doesn't bother me of course, but it's definitely noticeable. My advice would be to go to a lower vg percentage if you can handle it or to make sure that things are better ventilated than they are now.

Thank you - we need more honesty about the effects of vaping around others and this is one of the very rare times that anyone has mentioned how vapor in the air can be invasive, regardless of juice scent. This is what I searched for and couldn't find. Either most of us are in denial or those in the vicinity of vaping really aren't that bothered by it or are afraid to say.

It is very possible that there are a select few with a sensitivity to e-cig vapor, i fortunately have yet to encounter that type of person. So i have no input.

i guess i am lucky in that sense....

I still treat it like smoking around friends that don't smoke. I always ask if they mind if i vape in their house/condo/car.
Never had an issue or a complaint.

Only one that doesnt like my e-cig, is the girlfriends cat, but that depends on flavour... he just sits there, sniffs the air, and walks away.

"kitty not likes vaporz" :glare:

I spoke with the roomie about it. Turns out he was rather um drunk that night and said he wasn't sure if it was the alcohol bothering him or the vaper, that he's very supportive of my quitting smoking and it doesn't bother him that much (maybe a little). In the meantime I set up a fan near his room and told him to let me know if he's bothered by it again.

It's good to explore the second-hand vape issue anyway. There are so many positive stories that we can take things for granted :).

just want to stick my grey muzzle in here. One day vaping bunny said while i was off at work that she was getting a soar throat, but when i got home and starting tooting, vaping, pulling, using, puffing (whatever you want to call it) my evening tank of strawberry, she had said that her soar throat had gone away after about ten minutes....

But i have talked to female friends and they have said they cannot be around other people who use a pv as they say the "smoke" (their words not mine) gets caught in the back of their throat and they cough and choke

if it is one thing i have noticed, and i am sure may others have; It seems science or some big wig (government, news etc) needs to validate that it is ok. In the case of a pv, there is little information out there, and with some having the attitude of "i will do this where i want, when i want, how i want" it is not helping the cause as the general public is taking what they see for the attitude, mentality, and thoughts of the pv community as a whole. Sure pointing them to a web site forum is ok, but what do they normally see? people usually at each other......

Maybe if we can get free lance writers for community news papers, even national to write weekly articles on it could possibly get the information out there...personally, ones like mindfield, and realmac are doing Canadian reviews and having fun with it....so this humor could help in getting positive media out there.

I still say a 8/08 or 5/10 or 9/01 nation sit in on City hall steps could help get the word out too :D

I think you're going to find any "scientific" studies on vaping very disappointing. The conclusion is already forgone and the only reason nothing has really come out yet is because they haven't decided on the best way to reach it. Eventually they will, just like they did with second-hand smoke. It's going to get worse, not better.

true, but what else is out there as main stream media? How many threads on the forum usually have the comment of "i will do it where i want, when i want and why i want, and if they do not like it then to :censored: bad"

Again those that know nothing of it are looking for examples, or some level of comfort, and if the community as a major are putting the wrong mentality, the wrong foot, even the wrong pv forward, then what conclusion would the average person come to?

my parents cannot handle being in the room or even in an adjoining room if i've been vaping a "heavier" vape... light fruit vapes are ok for them but caramels and icecreams tend to make them feel like their throats are clogging up...

i also noted that the "lighter vapes i was vaping were pure PG while the VG ones were the ones that made them clog up and feel it in their throats...

i'm convinced, to a degree, that its in their heads cause they want me to stop vaping altogether... an addiction is an addiction is an addiction to them...

to play advocate, maybe they are sensitive to the flavourings. I know certain flavourings, artificial sweeteners mainly, actually cause me to have something close to an athsma attack. maybe try vaping unflavoured with nic when in the house and see how your roomie reacts...

My wife has complained about certain flavors and she does have asthma, although she smokes analogs. So I believe you may have hit it on the head there. I tell my wife she is just crazy and it's impossible to react to vape so I won't be showing her this thread :)

I used to smoke my brains out in the same room, up to 2 packs a day, and that didn't bother her although I have several high quality air cleaners in the room as well as elsewhere in the house. Still though, no machine keeps the air clean when you smoke one analog after another as you don't give them a chance :)

So I just tell my wife get used to it and she does, no one will be telling me I can't vape in my own house :D

allergies to both PG and VG are already discussed in many health threads here. an other issue to second hand vaping can be the nic. i have never read about that specificly, but other plants then tabac contain nicotine to, i.e. potatos. when you peel and prepare potatos for cooking, you absorb the nic of them... don't know more about it. and just to remember: some smelly bouquets of flowers in a room can give you a good dizzyness as well ...

TTS / vaping ok / better nate then lever

When I was smoking analogs, by b/f wouldn't let me smoke in his house. When he came to my house and saw me smoking in my pc room (spare bedroom with my computer desk is the only place I really smoked in my house), he'd fake cough, and say eewwwww smoking again...etc. Now that I vape, he's happy as a clam. Soooo, he only comments on my new obsession, seeing how my computer desk is FILLED with assorted cartos, bottles, droppers, batts, jars containing used and usable stuff, dishes with things drying, looks like a chemistry lab, my bottle of water, my cup of coffee....[basically it looks like a mess and too much clutter around here LOL] Out of deference, I didn't smoke much at all around my b/f, but now I chain vape :vapor: I've asked him if it bothers him in any way and he says nope. So it's all good now. :p

I think the culprit was VG. The amount of vapor, the smell of "fog machine", lingering in the air. It was even bothering my throat. I know that more people have issues with PG, but in this case I'm pretty sure it was VG. It is quite heavy and thick. I only use my VG juice at work now where I have to go outside, trying to use it up since I'm not a big fan, plus don't need a strong hit during the day. I'm the one vaping and if I notice the weight of it, then it makes sense that others can.
