I thought it was interesting that the media research center and CNS news decided to cover this too. That is another little bit of evidence to support that it really is a right vs left issue.

The Dangers of Viewing 'Historical Smoking' and the Modern E-Cigarettes | CNS News
Nice find. It does seem left vs. right but the celebs are mostly Left and some are vaping. It's more of a 'we know what's best for you' crowd vs. individual freedom types - libertarians. There is (or used to be) a 'civil libertarian' streak in the Left, but with political correctness and outright censorship, targeting their 'enemies' - tea party and certain news media not furthering their propaganda - with the IRS, NSA spying, anti-gun, environmentalist, etc., that libertarian streak is all but gone but perhaps ecigarettes can light it up again.
And the Left doesn't occupy all ground in the 'we know what's best for you' area. The religious right (and left) has some of those too - 'your body is a temple' types, some of whom reject any type of 'addictive' or mind altering substances - nicotine, alcohol, etc. The mainstream media is loaded with the 'non-civil libertarian' type Leftists. The non-mainstream media - talk radio, Fox, and many internet sites have all types, but the libertarian or right but libertarian leaning types are the most vocal on rights, liberty, and ecig type issues where either no one is harmed or the perceived harm is only with the individual - ie. no 'rights' are being violated.
