Serious question, what would make a new vaper go back to normal cigarettes?

Just to clarify, nicotine is one of the many whole tobacco alkaloids.

The MAOIs come from some of the other whole tobacco alkaloids that are naturally present in tobacco.
The MAOIs were not added by Big Tobacco.

Another well know effect of smoking is the ammonia, which makes the smoke more acidic.
This causes it to be far more rapidly absorbed by the lungs, and gives you a much quicker spike of nicotine.

Many claim that this quicker spike leads to a more addictive product, due to a "freebase" effect with rapid absorption and quicker elimination.
Patches, gums, inhalers, and electronic cigarettes give a slower absorption, and therefore a slower elimination.

It has been argued whether or not the addition of ammonia was done purposely by Big Tobacco.
I tend to believe the argument that it was added as part of the curing process and that the "freebase" effects were unexpected "benefits" for Big Tobacco.

Thanks for the clarification DC2. It's still scary to think I was smoking all those years and had no idea what was in them. I've had to give up smoking to find out lol.

You haven't given up though. If you want to take something as a win that's it right there. I'm going to order another charger and a few backups tomorrow in case I can't get hold of stuff and something goes wrong. I wasn't having a go at people who lapse I just keep reading stories about people who still want analogues and I couldn't understand why.

I get everything from vaping that I got from analogues. What do you think it is in normal cigs that you were addicted to apart from nicotine?

One big thing is that most tobacco has ammonia in it that opens up your lungs for maximum O2 - CO2 exchange much like an athlete after serious exertion. When you introduce nicotine into the inhaled air it becomes 'instabuzz' that feeds your craving in rapid style.

Think back to your smoking days and how good that first smoke in the morning was with coffee.
1) your nicotine levels were down from not smoking while you were sleeping.
2) the ammonia opens up your lungs and you get that big hit of nicotine to satisfy your craving/addiction.

FYI: The reason you smoked or now vape more when drinking is alcohol helps move the nicotine in your blood to your urinary tract. You hit the lou and get rid of the nicotine. Now your body wants more nicotine. Wash, rinse, repeat.

End of story, have to move on.
