I had to pop back in just for this. When I'm worrying about buying another tank or mod I'm going to look at this. That's quite a collection!
More in boxes, on the floor, next room,,etc. + some still on the way. So go ahead, have fun. I'm allowed to do this coz my wife and 3 kids (all grown up, BTW) knows I'm much healthier now because of e-cigs.
Wait til I get back from vape Expo at the end of this month, lol.

Isn't that a bit judgemental? I'm 27 and have tattoos (no stretched ears anymore though).
Surely it doesn't matter what age people are or what style of clothing they wear.
We all still share the common interest of kicking the stinkiest!

It's been that way as long as I have been here. Someone got the idea that if you "sub-ohm" you need all black clothes and tattoos to be doing so. I'm pretty sure those types are the short sighted individuals who think all people with tattoos are fresh out of prison or on their way there.

It's all based on stereotypes that the originators of should be old enough to not be engaging in. And the younger crowd is probably looking at people like they're "old farts" because they're being looked at like "young thugs".

It's all childish and stupid, and to be honest makes me wish that we were all like the smokers we used to be in the manner that we accepted all other smokers as part of the club.

Could not agree more. I don't have the right to judge anyone based on their appearance. But young, old, inked or otherwise I always enjoy talking vape :) I always seem to learn something new no matter who I'm talking to. It's part of the reason this community appeals to me.

I'm the same way since I have a bunch of visible tattoos so I keep it old fashioned and judge people by their actions. :thumb:

Eh, I'm in my early 50's and I'm a happy vaper. I went to VCCPA last year in the 'Burgh, and although the crowd was overwhelmingly young (some tatted and pierced, and even a few furries, apparently, based on the tails hanging out of their pants) but there was also enough gray hair there to make me feel like I was in the right place.
The only local vape shop also caters mostly to the young crowd, but I don't feel uncomfortable walking into a vape shop. I'm cool like that. ;)

I'm 58 and I sub-ohm. I have no tats, and only one tiny hole in each earlobe, meant to hold earrings, however, it's been years since I've worn any. :) Luckily for me, there ARE no vape shops around here, so I don't have to deal with "da kids."

That's how I feel being somewhat in the middle (38) I'm mature enough to hang out with the older crowd and rowdy enough to keep up with the youngins. Best of both worlds and I get double the chance to meet interesting folks.

I'm soon to be 47 years old. I've been successfully vaping for over 2 years now. I've ordered a vast majority of my stuff online but every once in awhile, I have to resort to running out to one of my local shops to get something that is an immediate need. (Ran out of cotton or my next juice delivery hasn't arrived.... etc.) Every time I go in these shops, I feel like the creepy old dude that shouldn't be there. They're filled with a bunch of late teen/early 20's kids with shaggy mop tops, gauged ears, pierced everything and skinny jeans. This is both the customers and the employees. I feel like everyone is staring at me like, "what's this old fart doing in here?"

I almost never see people my age vaping out in public unless it's an eGo stick or some other similar device. No one has mods or tanks except for the young kids. Then there's me with my little IPV D2 and Smok TFV4 mini. Meanwhile, the youngsters are all sucking on 200W mods with massive quad coil drippers and puffing away on such tasty sounding flavors like Dying Unicorn Blood and Sasquatch Poop.

I've been vaping off and on practically since vaping first became publicly available. I finally found stuff that worked for me and got off analogs completely. Now I feel like some old dinosaur trying to fit into some scene I'm not a part of just to get some cotton or a roll of wire.

So seriously, when did this become a "scene" thing?

Did you really expect to walk in and see older guy's in suits working for 8 bucks an hour or even "hanging out" for that matter, or the x - high school clean cut jocks that never had an interest in smoking, as far as a "scene" goes, ya it's a scene, it's called the NON smoking scene, the shops are good for what they are ............. juice bar ............... it's free to try and then order online ...............
You need wire ? get a lifetime supply from Tepco for 10 $, why you would know your getting low on cotton and go to a B&M is beyond me, Walmart organic cotton balls could hold me over for a week but could also just drive to sephora or nordstrom and get pads ...........

How do you find it, "judgmental?"

This is what I see in the shops in my area. A bunch of young scenesters all standing around talking and blowing clouds. When a customer walks in, they act "put out" if you're not one of them. The kid that helped me yesterday acted like he wanted to be anywhere other than helping me with what I needed but jumped right over to help a young, 20 something girl who came in with a gunked up atomizer. The other guy "working" in the shop was too busy playing video games with his girlfriend on their big screen TV to be bothered with me. As a result, I waited an extra 15 minutes to get my stuff.

I've got nothing against anybody for whatever they want to wear or pierce or whatever tattoos they have. Just treat me like a human being when I walk into your store and not like some creeper dude trying to hit on your little 70 pound girlfriend sitting over on the stool in the corner. I'm just here for some freaking cotton and maybe some juice, not to crash your scene.

Call me crazy but you could always try a different shop.
You've had a bad experience which is a shame, but sounds like your issue is more to do with the competence of the staff. Don't really understand why their appearance is an issue though...

This made me recall something I had almost forgotten. Like when a plain tobacco smoker would ask to bum a cigarette, then turn up their nose at the offer of a menthol, as if it were somehow inferior ...

I still prefer menthol juice ... :D

I've only visited two B&Ms in my area. In the first one, I was simply ignored (age 63 :(), and in the other it was so cloudy inside I could barely see the counter. If I go back I will tie a string to the door so I can find my way out ...

No, I don't expect older guys in business suits. What I do expect to see are people working there that are at least "civil" to their customers. Kind of a prerequisite if you're going to be working in any customer service field. And once in awhile I visit these shops for the sake of helping to support local business rather than the corporate overlords. Sure, I've paid a little higher price on a couple of things but I'll do that if I actually feel welcome in the shop. However, I'm going to stop doing that if I don't feel welcome. If I want somebody to sneer at me for being older, I'll start hanging out in college bars.

It depends on the shop and owner. People invest in a shop and hire some kids to run it, it will be full of kids. Store by me is run by the owner and his wife and it is an older crowd that hangs out in the lounge. Vape shop in next town which is same owners but hired someone to run it is full of the younger crowd. So you can't lump all stores into one group. 55 years young here and still play hockey with kids in their 30's 2 to 3 times a week. I don't have to keep up with them, I only have to stop the puck. LOL CHEERS!

So the people at that particular shop are immature, you know exactly what you need or want from the visit, try talking shop with them and they'll warm up to you, when they see your not snob or you know your stuff, maybe you'll find out there not such bad guy's at all ................

The actions of the vape shop employees was terrible. That would NEVER happen where I worked.

We were instructed to say, "Hello, welcome to *******." whenever a customer came through the door. If not busy, we would ask how can I help you today; or if busy with another customer, explain that we would get to them as soon as possible. Casual chats with friends or customers got put on hold until needy customers were serviced.

I don't blame you for complaining about the poor service. You should report it to the owner.
