Ok, I get it but - this is how you personally would like everyone to respond to people's questions. The thing is ...they don't have to. They don't agree with your reasoning for doing so. People really do feel they're being helpful when they quickly shout the name of whichever vendor has treated them right.
And like I said- it seems like most "newbies" asking for suggestions don't want to even read stickies or browse the model subforums or use the search feature. They simply want : an assurance it works and a link.
Later, after they've actually tried vaping they usually come back and get really into a bunch of research (which is half the fun).
Is this maybe about a few threads that irked you? Because there are tons of threads on ECF where people have discussed those features to infinity, for every model out there. I regularly tell people: First read this or that sticky. Then for a 3 piece go with the m401 or 501 (and I list links) or for a 2 piece look into the kr808 aka VaporKing (with link). A lot of folks do that.
I'm not sure why this has turned into some lesson in forum best practices. I honestly think it's maybe a personal pet peeve on your part.
I guess we'll have to agree to disagree on some points, I find just shouting your favorite vendor without any hard facts (not emotional facts) to be doing a dis service to the information seeking newbie maybe that's not the best model to fit their needs..and why if they start here would you want to send them off half informed and wait for them to come back and dig and do research and possibly find out that they would have done better with another model. why not be fully informed and get the best model that suits their needs from the get go and be sure of it...and be strong in their conviction that they got the right one that they're confident that it'll help them get rid of the smokes..
I know myself personally after a cancer scare, and my trade being hit so hard by this economy that even unemployment ran out...making sure that I got the right PV was a big gamble since I had to squirrel away part of my smoke funds..it was a lot of trust and I only got one shot at it...if it'd failed I'd have been screwed with no smokes, there wouldn't have been a second try, or a it sorta works now let me dig deeper and see what else is out there..I'd have been back on the analogs ...my pet peeve if any is that anyone might unwittingly do that to a newbie by letting their love and emotion for a company rule over the facts and specs and info, and the suggestion that the newbie research what would work best for them..
Have you looked to see that it exists anywhere? Have you posted on ECF asking these specific questions? Because they all could have been answered. It almost seems to offend you that exactly what you require doesn't exist simply because "it's not too much to ask".
Actually I did ask as a newbie..and got the standard get a vapor king answer, along with the get a 510 answer, along with the get a mod answers...I'm still waiting for saw(whatever to get back to me and see f he can find that kit on V4L)..I did find something very close on another vendor (like I said I was willing to make that singular logo concession) though they dont list if theres a cutoff time or not...and of course it was harder to find because they too rebranded and are calling it an Ace
Look, I'm not rabidly defending V4L here, we could be talking about any vendor. I just find your disappointment a bit lacking in logic in some areas.
(As to people jumping on you in this thread... I think it might have something to do with you entering a V4L contest then coming into a thread in the V4L subforum and basically listing a ton of reason why you don't like them and sort of implying their customers are mean koolaid drinkers. So people got riled up.)
As I said I was responding to the original post that asked how anyone could seriously prefer the 510, and it really really struck me the wrong way, like I was simply wrong and stupid for my opinion...I was simply giving my reasons why I chose the way I did...often I don't pay attention to which sub forum a thread is on..I go to today's posts and read what I might find interesting or fun at that moment..the contest thread honestly I went to it that day (thinking it might be fun for a minute or 2) read some made 2 quick suggestions and thought no more about it til you pointed out that I'd won something (and I seriously had to go back and check my posts to see what I had entered and when)...just misfortunes of misfortunes that it happened to be after I'd already posted here but i didn't hunt out the subforum to post...
Never said straight out that I didn't like them, just that I didn't like their starter kits as there wasn't one that fit my needs (oh and I said that I didn't like the look of the multi logo batteries, that I prefer a sleeker look (hell my kid already thinks the LEDs are little flashlights and wants to play with them, I don't need my PV to look any more appealing and toylike to him)) ..as for the mean kool-aid drinkers thing....meh..
By the way can we please stop now...I stated my reasons why I chose the 510 first..and I'm sure we can agree to disagree...but I'm not going to stop defending my stance, of why I did something in the past the way I did...and it's just monopolizing a thread now..not to mention time better spent elsewhere..
