FishWater, I am now trying to remember if I changed my drip tip on the SS and maybe the original SS DT is the same as the one on my new Black version...yikes, I am so cornfused! I may have put a slightly more restricted DT on my SS, but it has been too long. I have so many DTs, but I will check and see if I have a matching SS DT that is the same as the Black Serpent.

I dunno, my DTs are the same on the Black, and SS version, well other than one being black, and one being SS. I also have the matte black version, maybe they changed the DT on the glossy black?

I am pretty sure I changed my SS DT out now that I think about it. I believe ThunderDan is correct. My mistake.

My SS and black DT are the same size if that helps.

A 10mm o ring on the JF deck will solve your problem. I have them on all of my serpents due to the same issue and they don't leak a drop since then.

I've been running a Serpent & Bachelor lately. I think I'm going to buy another Serpent, the air is perfect for me. It will probably be a SS one since I have a mod to match it. Hopefully these problems everyone is having have just been a bad run & they get it figured out.

Dan,

Are you sure that is a 10 mm O-ring? That is one He!! of a stretch for such a small O-ring. A 10 mm X 1 mm O-ring is what I use for shimming up a loose 510 pin.
It's what I used. It wasn't that bad, got it from my spare kayfun 4 oring which I ordered from the o-ring store, so the bag was still labeled 10 x 1mm.

OK - I believe you Dan but that must have been a real stretch. Did you close your eyes and pray while stretching it over the build deck.

I was getting bad flavor and dry hits from one of my black ones so I had to take the deck off and fix the coil and rewick. While I had the deck off I put the 10mm oring on with no trouble, screwed the deck back on with juice still in the tank and no leaking. I was afraid the oring would restrict the juice flow but it doesn't seem to. Time will tell. We'll see what happens when it comes time to refill.

I think the ones I used (unknown bag of extra o-rings in a drawer) measured 14 mm and were plenty tight.

Landman,

I would have expected 14 mm to break. These other folks that used the 10 mm must be very lucky.

Well let me just say that if I tried that I would have a handful of split O-rings. :)

I measured it after trying a 12 mm and thought it might be a bit too snug.

The 14 mm was snug but not overly tight.
