I was crossing the street yesterday when I heard "that's a disgusting habit" from a colleague of mine who happened to be crossing at the same time.
[As an aside, why do people feel free to say things like this; I can't imagine saying to a fat person "don't you think you're a bit hefty to be eating that pastry"]
I quipped back "It's not real" and flashed my white EVO. She was impressed and, since she didn't know that I was a smoker (at all), even said "You don't look like a smoker" (whatever that means). I replied that I prefer smack and ....... when I'm at home.
We then came across another colleague who joined in the discussion and had even heard of e-cigs - her friend is using them apparently and said she has seen a taxi driver
vaping one. She even commented that he raved on and on about how fabulous it is.
Neither of these never-smokers thought it was a bad thing at all; both thought that it was a great device. Maybe it depends on how you present these things - I didn't say, for example, "yeah, now I can smoke in the office, haha" (although I do occasionally, very discretely).
Also this week I saw my first ever other e-smoker in the wild!
Walking down the street I noticed a lady holding/puffing a cigarette rather awkwardly and, given it's size, I'm sure it was an e-cig.
They're catching on...
Not sure if I'll be brave enough to pull out my soon-to-be arriving screwdriver walking down the street though
