I went to see a movie with my parents tonight and decided to take my disposable e-cigar with me, just in case I found the courage to use it. I decided not to use it in the theatre.

After the movie, I whipped it out in the spacious lobby, making sure to find a good place far enough away from people so as not to cause any offense - there wasn't much of a crowd anyway. So, I took a couple of drags, and, immediately, a really nice couple in front of me began laughing, starring in amusement at me for having the gall to light up in a smoke free place. The man said, "You know you're not supposed to smoke in here!" with a smile on his face.

Meanwhile, I noticed a lady about twenty feet away from me scrunching up her face in absolute disgust, waving her hand in front of her face as if to swipe away whatever foul smoke she thought was heading her way. She must have been absolutely stricken to see someone smoking what she thought to be a big, obnoxious-smelling stogie. I can't say I blame her initial reaction, for I know that real cigar smoke is quite powerful - even to cigarette smokers. I can't even recall the last time I've seen anybody smoking a real cigar in public, so it must have given her flashbacks to the 1950s or something.

I began telling the couple who were laughing at me - in full earshot of the "dying" lady - that I wasn't actually smoking but vaping. I told him that I was not breaking any laws. The guy asked me if it was one of those devices to help you quit smoking, and I just said yes. They were pleased with my response and went on their way.

Unfortunately, my dad was embarrassed by my actions and said to the angry lady, "I can smell it, too. It smells like plastic!" I gave up and walked out of the lobby into the mall to continue vaping in peace. We then walked through the mall, me vaping away without anybody caring or noticing, and took the elevator down into the underground parking lot full of exhaust fumes. The lady in the elevator was wearing too much perfume, but I didn't get mad.

I asked my dad if he really thought the vapor smelled like plastic, and he said yes. My mum disagreed, saying that she couldn't smell anything. My dad said that he would never go to a restaurant that was full of people vaping because of the smell.

Back at my parents house, I asked my mum if I could test the vapor near her to gauge her reaction. My mum is one of those people who hates the smell of smoke, finds it irritating to her eyes, and avoids it like the plague. So, I sat beside her on a chair and exhaled some plumes of vapour into the air around her and asked if she could smell anything. She said she couldn't. We then exited the room and came back in and both of us could smell a slight "something," but it wasn't plastic, and it was not offensive in any way. The smell soon dissipated. On the other hand, my dad said that he could smell plastic in the adjacent room, even though I had not been vaping there.

Unfortunately, I think that e-cigs are likely to be banned in all public places. I remember when people used to smoke in the food court at the mall and how much the smoke filled the room. Now, imagine lots of vaporers doing the same thing, and you'll have trouble. Even if the second-hand vapor turns out to be harmless, people will still complain about the smell. They won't want to breathe in the vapor, either. They'll start complaining, and eventually managers will get fed up with all the complaints and decide to ban the use of e-cigs outright. Judging by my experience tonight, I can see it coming.

i don't have any cool stories, but today i vaped at the optometrists' and at a restaurant.

i'm not sure anyone saw me, but that was mostly intentional- i'd been having quite a day and didn't really want to go into a schpeel about e-cigs.

it felt great to have my "fix" at my convenience though; and not have to go outside, or 20 feet away from the building (the doctors office)... :)

I vape in non-smoking places mostly in the restroom or a discreet covered LED hold it in occasional drags. I have a black penstyle with blue LED and usually no one notices.

I spent a week between Universal and Disney in Florida. They are big enforcers of only allowing smoking in designated areas. I vaped discreetly at first and openly as time went by. They tagged people people right and left for smoking, but nobody ever approached me. It doesn't look like an analog, it's not held like one and outdoors the vapor goes fast, so I figure even if they saw me their brains didn't scream SMOKER.

After being on a ride that was stoppped because someone was trying to discreetly record it, I didn't even attempt to vape on one. Not even the "It's a small world" ride, though I was very tempted.

My DH swears he smells it and doesn't like it but says it's a vast improvement over the analogs. I say he's full of it. My kids love it. They say it smells nice briefly if they're close when I exhale and that my clothes don't smell at all. Most people say they smell nothing or a slight, pleasant, quickly gone mint/fruit smell but only when directed at them.

We went to Atlantic City on Monday and vaped away all night long in the no smoking section of Bally's wild wild west. In the morning we headed over to Trump Marina for breakfast and stopped to play a slot machine by the Buffet restaurant. I took out my 901 and started vaping when one of the security guards came over and said " You can't smoke in this section mam " I quickly replied, I'm not smoking, it's an electronic cigarette, you guys should know about these things cause Trump is selling them. I then pulled an NPRO out of my pocket and showed it to her and said, this is what your gift shop sells. She was like all amazed and watched me vape for a bit then she goes I gotta get me one of those.

So I was enjoying myself at a new Casino here in Washington State. Was standing in line for the buffet, in a non smoking part of the casino happily vaping away then he approached..

John, Casino Security approached me and kindly asked me to put my cigarette out as this was a non-smoking section of the casino. How someone could manage putting a cigarette inside their jacket and pulling it out at will to puff is beyond me but I took it out and explained to him that it was an e-cig.

He seemed pretty impressed, just stared at it saying that was pretty cool, and how he'd never seen anything like it before! I thought this was great, I've just stuck it to the man! I smiled and asked him if he'd still like me to put it out?

He said yes, and walked away. 8-o

Oh well, I continued to puff throughout the line without any confrontation or problems.

i smoke them in the office and my boss and other colleagues are very supportive, they dont mind it, as for out in public, i try not to bring any attention on myself, if i'm in the pub, i'll smoke it in the pub but make sure that no one notices (i.e. i pull my sleve right down and take a few draws and exhale back up my sleve so no one notices) its worked so far!

I was thinking of smoking it on the plane a few weeks back but i didnt have the courage and was worried, just in case a smoke alarm went off or something! (it was only a two hour flight so i was fine)

I do this too.

The biggest attention grabber for me at a bar is people asking me if I need a light when I am holding it. I am like, NO! Get away from me wth that lighter! Then of course, I am happy to explain my lack of need for their generosity. :)

this evening was waiting for shuttle ride and using my black 901 w/orange led. I was using it openly, but wasnt exhaling large amounts of vapor (I simply wasnt taking very big drags off it). A woman about 5 feet away from me noticed my ecig and started coughing and them moved to be upwind from me. I was kinda hoping she'd say something, but alas...

I have been thrown out of places, have had the cops called on me multiple times for e-smoking. It all happened after CBS news launched their news program on how e-smoking could possibly be hazardous because we don't know what's in the vapor.

Most people just look confused when you tell them it's just a vapor not smoke. A lot of them think I am being a smart-... when I tell them I'm not smoking and try to explain myself at first.

That's why I finally decided to get my DSE-901 from totally wicked. It's all black and has a blue light on the end, so I get less dirty looks in public. In America, people are .......s, and they'll jump down your throat in a second it seems if you're a nasty smoker.

I do like to freak people out sometimes :D. Before I got my 901 I was in a grocery store the other day shopping for dinner and this lady in the deli was Extremely ...... off I was "smoking" while I was browsing a meat selection. I looked at her intensely... took a long drag on my ecig, and as the red tip was glowing i turned it around and stuck it in my eye, making a twisting motion. The look on her face was priceless as I said "THERE, I PUT IT OUT" and blew out my vapor. lol. Of course I explained myself afterwards, but you can have some fun with people.

There is a simmering "emergency" in Minneapolis right now as the local govt tries to figure out how to handle this. They seem to not like it because the smokers have gotten one over on them. There are talks of banning them.

Luckily, I live in the conservative burbs, where a lot of people still value freedom. I was at a bar last week and asked the bartender if she'd heard of e-cigs. She said that she had, so I showed it to her and she was intrigued.

After awhile, I went outside to use it when some other patrons headed out for a smoke break. While out there, two people told me that I didnt have to go outside because they saw people using them the previous weekend on the dance floor.

I went back in and asked the bartender if she wanted to see how it worked. She had already told me that she did not smoke. I took a few drags and exhaled in her direction. She was not only impressed, she asked me to do it again and moved into the vapor to see if she could detect anything, which she could not.

She told me to "fire up" anytime I wanted if she was working :)

earlier this evening I took a drag off of my ecig while talking to someone and when I spoke, bits of vapor came out in my breath. Apparently the person I was talking to is an anti-smoker because he immediately lurched backwards to avoid any possible contact with my "smoke" *lol* And, it wasnt like i was in his face (we were about 4 feet apart). I simply pretended not to notice and surprisingly he didnt say anything about it.

In order to make the smoke colored I wonder what they would have to add to it....and if I would want to be inhaling it. Although blue would be cool.

It is impossible to add color to vapor, other than shining a colored light source at it. You can not ' paint ' water molecules. The only known element on Earth with a naturally colored vapor is Iodine, although I wouldn't recommend inhaling Iodine just to see a pale violet color in your vapor.

Well, we'll just have to replace the LED with a laser to draw a light show in the vapour instead.
