I'll repost this here since Retired1 moved then shut down the other discussion that was opened on this subject.

I still want to know how a middle school aged kid buys something on-line without a credit card? And if they used a credit card how did they get ahold of it?
What it all boils down to is bad parenting. Plane and simple.

Why this all makes perfect sense. The article said kids got it on the Internets. And this is yet another example of how horrible, evil the internets actually is. Ever since Al Gore claimed he invented the internet Republicans have been trying to get it shut down so...

It seems to me that this kind of uninformed and unsubstantiated media babble is just what the Big T and Big P and the govt want in order to tax and regulate yet another aspect of our lives. If local stories such as these get picked up nationally, hysteria from those uneducated about the practice will start another bandwagon. Ever see the govt issue a temporary tax that didn't stay temporary forever?

Kids are nuts these days. I've heard stories of schools removing hand sanitizer because kids were drinking it for the alcohol.

The hand sanitizer story came from the same place this story did, check their archives, some one even linked it in comments after the article.

If you go to the news website, please leave your comments or your story after the article. Make yourselves heard. The FDA will be deciding shortly how they are going to handle e-cigs, after that we will have some time, but not a lot, to contact the FDA and become part of the permanent record that they must consider. Don't whine and cry and use name-calling. Be concise with your information, present facts, please don't be like this news story.

Stepping down from her soap box.......

And I'll repost this comment as well.

I still love the fact that they say that no one has died from doing it yet, but the guy they interview says, when asked how much nicotine is in a bottle (a direct question mind you), "enough to kill you". But no one has died from it yet. WHAT??????!!!

again...rather vague with his answers (the interviewee)

The whole story is completely implausible. If a couple of kids did this, I'd imagine they most likely would puke their guts out. There would be absolutely no pleasant 'high' effects from drinking nicotine, so nothing to make the projectile vomiting worth another attempt.

What if more kids (or actual real kids rather than imaginary ones) decide to try it because of this idiotic news story?

if you drank one 10 ml bottle of 24 mg per ml e-liquid you would ingest a total of 240 MG, that's more than enough to kill a human. you would drink 10 ml in one gulp. and nicotine is absorbed across any part of your body, but lets say you threw up half of it. that's still 120 MG or double the LD50.

so then, about 2 ml of 24 mg/ml nic liquid would be enough to get you on the threshold of death ... do these people really belief what they are reporting?
do you know any teenager that has that much control of themselves? do they carry around 1 or 2 ml syringes? how would they measure? would those kids even take the time or effort to measure it out...or do the math it requires to figure out the dose to 'not die' ?
they'd be dropping like flies, if this story was anything other than the sensationalism and BS it is.

this story actually borders on the comical if you thought about it and if it didn't undermine our (vaping community) efforts.

What a load of crap!!

This is obviously a fabricated story, with the sole intent of scaring people into thinking a ban on e-liquid would be a good idea... forgetting that there are hundreds of household products actually much more dangerous than a bottle of e-liquid... how about banning them all, and letting people clean and sanitize their homes with mineral water...?

How about some random kid who reads that BS, actually believes he can get 'high' on a bottle of e-juice, and actually tries it?

Who do you think will be blamed? His absent parents? The brickhead who wrote that BS?? No, of course not... the e-cig industry will be crucified by the public opinion... the same public opinion that is manipulated by brickheads who write BS in the first place... an so the pattern repeats itself.

^^^ That. That has the potential to be the saddest bit of truth coming out of this piece of fiction masquerading as journalism.

When that idiot TV station's license comes up for renewal there should be a lot of input from the vaping community - and the hand sanitizer industry - as to why that renewal would not be in the public interest.

Rotten, stupid, silly, idiotic "article".
But GREAT comments!

Jeez.. I remember the times when "journalism" involved "research" - and not just making up any silly fairy tale :(

Oh, do not be fooled! Today's "journalists" are a very professional bunch, and today's "journalism" still involves A LOT of research. Trouble is, today's "research" consists mainly in looking into silly fairy tales...

I highly doubt kids are drinking this stuff...and if they did they would vomit before it even came close to killing. Really how many of us have just got a little bit in our mouths and instantly felt sick?

How about the fact that VG is also a laxative?

Yea, I'm sure kids just love spewing from Both ends... which is where this story needs to found at...

Yeah.. a lot of research into who pays you the most to spread lies to further his cause.

There is more truth in this statement then that entire NEWS/Entertainment story.

Ya know, there use to be a time, not too long ago, when the NEWS reported just the facts. Not the facts according to who paid them.

I guess that's the one thing we all need to realise. NEWS makes their money through advertising. It's just a shame that thier advertising has spilled over into their NEWS reporting.
