In the small town I live in we do not have a dedicated shop we have a counter in a tatoo/head/porn shop. Lets just said they were a tad blown away when my little old lady self walked in with a REO + RM2 rocking a 1.2 ohm coil. LOL It was quite satisfactory.

The entire vaping industry, overall, seriously underestimates us "little old ladies".

The OP sounds like the store was a Zikwid one. That's the way the one in the AZ Valley is. I was there once and will never return.

Even I've heard of that one. The reputation is so bad that I want to stop in and see it for myself, preferably on a bad day. LOL! Are they still in business?

Im so thankful to be apart of the Raleigh, NC vape community....
I have 4 shops in my area and all are great for diff. reasons.
Prime example Misty Mountain Cover almost every base, the employees will not only teach you but also sell about anything you could imagine at good prices. won't build certain builds unless you can answer some basic questions, and honestly care about you.
Puffing Monkey is the same, they might not have a ton of stuff but have entry level up to advanced and all vape and most are using high-end and can give advice on almost anything.
Level Eleven taught me to DIY and have educated employees with entry to advanced products.
Thankful to be around great people and great products!

The B&M that got me started here in Bend OR, is primarily a tobacco/head shop and now I realize how woefully bad their selection is. However, the employees were extremely helpful. I have to admit I feel just a little guilty I have not gone back since I purchased my Vapage UTURN 1300 there, but they have maybe only 30 or so juices available and like I said...miniscule selection. In a town of 80K+ with 8 microbreweries and tons of craft brewers, you would think there would be more of a vape presence. Because nothing goes with a good beer like a good vape. :toast:

Unfortunately, they are. Just as unfortunately, they're the intro to many new vapers. :-( Every time I've been past there, its pretty continuous traffic in and out. I can only hope that people move on to much better vendors. They're also way, way, overpriced.

Upstate South Carolina here. Our local vape shops seem to have pleasant staff, just not very knowledgeable. ECF is a blessing in the knowledge department. As I want to support my local B&M as much as possible but it is frustrating they cannot answer technical questions. I can support them because I get my questions answered here by you fine people :)

I must be pretty fortunate. There's a place near me that really helped me in getting started. They're a friendly bunch, and they've never steered me wrong.

That said, this is specialty retail we're talking about. Whether it's a record store or a rare book shop, I expect to run into a few questionable characters in those places, and I know enough not to take anything as gospel that I don't verify myself.

I travel a lot and visit shops all over. For the most part the people working there have been great. There is always the know it alls and the elitist so but with the rate new shops are opening, when the market shakes out and the competition gets better that will change. I drive around a mile and a half from my office to the freeway and in the last year 4 shops have opened. Even if every smoker threw out their cigs and started vaping the market won't support that much saturation. Smart business owners know that service makes the difference and in such a competitive market, no service or unhappy customers mean they will go online or to the next shop and no business.
