Should we boycott businesses that ban vaping in their establishments?

This is the point I was trying to make earlier. A buycott was revved up in retaliation to the boycott, and Chik fil A did a booming business as a result. Additionally, the scenes of the buycott were of families politely eating at the restaurant enjoying themselves, and undoubtedly included many people who were unaware of the controversy. The most memorable video clip I saw of the boycotters was a man being rude and abusive to a teen restaurant employee who handled herself very well in spite of the vitriol that was aimed at her.

There are many reasons to avoid an organized boycott, all of which have been covered in this thread, but they all boil down to: more often than not boycotters make themselves look like jerks.

I have no problem with a person deciding not to do business with an establishment that doesn't allow vaping. I will however make a point of supporting vape friendly businesses

I had no idea that was what buycott meant.

Yep, pretty much the opposite of a boycott. instead of trying to punish a business you disagree with, you support one you..... support. I like the optics of it much better, and as I stated before, it can actually look bigger than it really is, because the people who just happen to be at that business that day, but have no idea anything is going on appear to be supporting the buycott. It's difficult to count people who don't show up, and easy to count those who do.

Homeish now
Everyone keep calm and vape on :) Rather not have get all mean and shut the whole thing down.

Very good posts and very good views. It is good to get people thinking.

I want to add that controversy, while many people seek to avoid it (often because they view it as militant or devisive), can be a good thing and can have positive effects. When someone tells me that something, someone, or some group is "controversial", well it just piques my interest even more and I want to know more about it and come to my own conclusion.

controversial I can deal with. Militant and confrontational not so much.
It's a difference between a discussion and a shouting match. :)

After going so many years as a smoker of analogs I got used to not smoking in most places. As for them telling me not to vape I have learned you have to catch me first. =P I stealth Vape, I just hold it in longer and no vapor comes out.Not liking a smell isn't a good enough reason as I smell many colognes and such I hate the smell of and I don't complain to establishments about that.(unless it is sewage smell of course)

It's sort of like using profanity in public. If you overhear someone swear while they're in a conversation with someone else it's not likely to bother you or anyone. But, the louder and more frequent the profanity gets, the more likely people will be offended. Management of an establish will ask you to leave if you won't stop. Stealth vaping is kinda like the occasional f-bomb. No one will care as long as it's not directed at them.
