@GeorgeS have you tried this test on other TC mods?

I run 95% VG in my tanks. None of my other TC mods will produce anything more than a very faint (less than breathing outside on a cold day) wiff at 200 or even 250F. On any other TC mod I can hold the fire button until the vape timer (if there is one) expires and I'll get the same.

If the mod is actually regulating temperature blowing clouds would be impossible at 200F.

    1. tried entering TC preheat adjustment from sleep. No garble

    2. not blowing clouds at 200F with SS but still getting SOME vapor

I believe I have a functional unit. So far no misfires, no screen garble, no cloud chucking at 200F with dual coil SS. Lets hope this doesn't jinx my unit.

How long did you hold the fire button for the 2nd part of the test. I've found that you really don't need (or maybe won't want to) take a pull as I can hear the juice making a bunch of noise while is vaporizing.

    After 5-10sec's I get clouds at 200F.

Right on. If it looks like this, just so people know, it is still readable and functioning. This guy's is set to 213 for .05 seconds.

Not saying that it shouldn't be fixed, just that it's a pretty minor gripe.

As far as TC functionality, I've no idea, I just use power.

It dosnt matter what the preheat is set on. It always does it on my mod. That is just after a million tests trying to get the preheat to work again. It is more than just the screen issue aswell. The preheat, TCR,TFR all stopped working.

Have you asked for an exchange yet? Mine works fine.

Yes. if you read the thread you will see I have been in contact with Sigelei and originvape. Still waiting on Sigelei to reply to us. Sent video and pictures. I'm glad yours works in power mode. No one is saying it is every mod. Some of us are having serious issues in temp control. I cant remember the last mod I owned that failed in power mode. We are discussing problems that temp control users are having. I can swap from any of my other mods in TC with the same settings on the same coils and this mod does not regulate temp at all any more in TCR or TFR. The pre heat screen is just a minor part of the underlying issues.

    After 5-10sec's I get clouds at 200F.

I tried again to chain vaping it with TC ss316 at 200F. Held the fire button down for at least 5 secs per drag, 5-8 drags. Yes it produced vapor but not "cloudz". Also didn't feel like I was getting a hit from this either.

If I choose ss316 from the menu it sometimes works. Since I'm using 316L using the TCR function and the TFR function do not work at all any more for me no matter the wire or the settings.

    Good!
All we know right now is a few of us have broken ones. It sounds like some are actually working. Unknown how many are effected.

However I think the odds of a review getting a dud is slim to none. (unless of course they purchased a random one at a B&M, but reviewers get free stuff and would never be able to afford to buy off the shelf)

Can you tell me what your watts are set at and how you set it when you are using temp control mode? Just curious.

Its still rather disappointing that we have this many faulty units with the sig213. Actual forum members (i think) make up a small portion of the vaping community (again, imo) and those who actually purchased this specific unit who experienced problems should be an even smaller percentage, yet we have these issues with this mod.

Have you guys tried contacting sigelei directly?

The good news is that your mod appears to be working. The bad news is that a firmware update won't fix mine. I bought the only one my local vendor had in stock so they don't have a replacement. (sigh)

I hope you guys get this issue resolved. Hopefully sigelei will make good, this is my first sig mod and have no experience with their after sales service.

On a side note. I just weighed this unit with a newly acquired scale.

Came out to 134g without batteries. 233 with 2 batteries. So each 18650 weighs in around 45-48g (using LG HG2s).

Yep. Waiting on a reply. Sent pictures and video. Still no response. This has been going on almost one week now. Originvape is ...... off at how Sigelei is handling it. They said they would just refund me. I REALLY want this mod to work. Next to my Reuleaux DNA-200, this is my next favorite mod. I like it better than my SX mini's !

I understand your frustration, it honestly is a great mod and def one of my top 3 at the moment. Is originvape also out of stock for the sig213?

Can you tell me what your watts are set at and how you set it when you are using temp control mode? Just curious.
I've tried a bunch of different things:
    • The lowest pre-heat setting (10W 0.01sec) with Ti, NiFe30, Nife48, SS430 - (TCR modes +Ti preset) all fail. All different tanks that were pulled from functional TC/TCR mods for testing on the 213. Simply hold the fire button and the coils would overheat. My first test was with NiFe48 and with a temperature setting of 200F I was able to get the coil to GLOW in TC mode. Not good.
    • TFR mode in M1 (I forget which wire type) seemed to work with 15-20W 0.01sec pre-heat. I could set 200F and get nothing and then set 400F and get a lung (or two) full of vapor.
    • I tried TFR M2 and M3, loading the values found on Steam Engine (much like M1). These were a mixed bag of failures. Ether overshooting or undershooting the temperature or not regulating at all.
I had to drag out a real camera to capture the jumbled screen. I'll be emailing the image (once I get on a computer that has the camera software) to Sigelei for warranty service.

I like the size and weight of the mod, even like the advertised feature set even more but then IF it only worked. Sadly, since others are not having the issue a firmware update won't likely fix our problems and we need to exchange for a mod that hopefully works.

Yes it is :( Sadly I like this mod so much that if it didn't burn me and was just the screen issue I probably would have just kept it ! But I almost always only vape SS316L any more. I was really psyched for this mod. Thank you for the kind words as well.

Thanks George. I have tried everything too. Same results as yours.

I dropped by the B&M and since they don't have any others in stock, (and no manager was around to authorize a refund) I left them my card and they will call next week when they get new stock.

However, I'm afraid it won't help. I dropped by another B&M that had 2 in stock. On one I was able to demo the garbled screen, the other one I bought. Once getting it home I again tried TCR mode on the new mod. Broken. Same as before.

TFR mode mostly works. No garbled screen. I have not bothered loading up other 'curves' into the mod, just crushed that I've encountered 3 that are defective.

Since the current one does not have a garbled screen, I'm not sure what I'll be showing Sigelei, maybe a glowing coil at 200F in Ti mode. (sigh)

Well at least you can tell them your story and the units you have tested. Did you return your old one? You still have it because no manager was there for a return? I will post back if/when I hear from them. I think they are finding out that they had a bad run of devices and trying to figure out what to do (IMO).

I just tested some of this on mine, with the .5 ohm ss coil in my Uwell Crown tank. When in temp mode(SS316) I started at 200F and got no vapor, and didn't start producing any vapor until 240F. I tested the garbled screen a few times and got it the first 2 or 3 tries but not anymore after that. I mainly use it in power mode, since this is my first TC device and sub ohm tank. Since this is my only TC device, I'm not sure if the vapor production I got in TC mode was normal or not.
