I had trouble with it at first but the second go-round with noalox worked like a charm. No issues other than the size difference took some getting used to.

I know I Noaloxed the crap out of it lol. In fact I just re-Noaloxed a couple of days ago. The thickness doesn't really bother me, I actually kind of like it b/c it feels like I'm griping it better. I'm having the error issues with this one, as well as my other V3, the 'low load' or 'short' on my 1.8 ohm nautilus. I am NOT getting any error msgs with my Vamo V5 or sigelei V5.

I know, isn't it odd that they would be a different size? Scared me when I took it out of the package but I relaxed after I did the original version check. I get the short and low load message too but it's intermittent on all of my Zmaxs. Seems to happen more with my mini PTs but it's happened with my PT2 also. I just thought it had something to do with a coil I wrapped. Sometimes I'll get it on one then put the mini PT on another Zmax and no message. Sometimes if I unscrew it a tiny bit it works too. I've even changed the battery and had it clear up. I've never been able to figure out exactly what is causing it.

My one year-old V3 is SI V1.1. It has a non-removable top cap, brass eGo threads and the funky menu item details like the word "resistance" scrolling by in Menu Item #5. It was purchased in April, 2013.

SI V1.5a is the second generation V3. These appeared with removable top caps, one-piece stainless steel 510/eGo threading, menu refinements and some other minor upgrades. The first of these started to appear in the summer of 2013 and were all over the market by the fall of that year.

That's how it is on mine, if I adjust it or put it on a different mod, it's fine until it decides to do it again. I've never had it happen with my cartos though... That is odd! But I'm glad I'm not the only one and that it doesn't seem to be a big deal, just a minor annoyance!

Nautilus looks like it has a floating center pin. That's where your getting issues I bet. If it's not floating I don't see how
You'd get many threads to catch. The sigelie 510 is not as Deep as other mods. You may be completely compressing the floating pin causing a short in the end.

Thanks Jeremy, that makes sense. I don't think about stuff like that, but I also don't know about issues like that either so it's nice to have more experienced members teach us newer ones a thing or two lol.

This is a shot in the dark, but I was wondering if the width of the positive pin might have something to do with the intermittent "short" problems that a couple of you mentioned.

I had the opportunity to look at a few different variations of the V3 back in January, and took a picture of them from the top. Take a look at the last paragraph and the 3rd picture in this post. You can see that the positive pin inside varies in size. The V3 on the far left is a SI V1.1. while both models on the right are SI V1.5a. Over time it seems that Sigelei made the width of the center contact smaller, possibly to reduce the chances of the outer edge of the positive pin from shorting on the threads of certain tanks. You can see that even between the two V1.5a's there is a slight difference in pin width. It's possible that the problem is related to a specific tank's connector when combined with a particular size pin in the Sigelei. It may be way off in left field, but I thought I'd mention it anyway.

One other thing I would try is to spray out the 510 connector on the Sigelei with alcohol/compressed air to see if it might just be small iron filings left over from thread wear that are causing the intermittent short/low load errors.

That was my first thought too that pin is huge! Looks almost bigger than the threads..

Right on I agree 100%
