I spent yesterday at the marina doing maintenance on the boat. One of the berthers walked by while I was using the sigelei and told me "Those things aren't good for you". He was upwind six feet from me and stunk of cigarettes. What can I say? He's new to the marina and bait fishes for catfish.

Believe it or not, a lot people still don't know squat about vaping.

When I still smoked I would look for targets in non smoking areas. I would take a unlit cigarette and move it to my mouth as if I were smoking it. It did not take long for some that noticed began making faces or coughing. I saw something on an airplane as well. It almost got him in trouble, "causing a disturbance". The brainwashing is complete.

Reporting back after using my V5 for about 4 months if I'm reading the order invoice correctly.
It's still in working condition but the board has shifted up and the button is misfiring very often on a light click. This causes it to bounce into the menu and slightly pissing me off as well. One thing I noticed is that it sometimes goes into some sort of system crash. Sometimes when firing it simply stops doing so and continuously displays the sigelei logo for a good while (maybe 30 seconds?). After booting it up again after 5 clicks it operates a little differently: on button press, the resistance is briefly shown on screen in full and then it starts firing with the normal screen on display.

Taking the battery out during the 'sigelei logo crash' as I'll call it now will stop it from happening.

offtopic: Has anyone else noticed the absolute sh***storm of bad press on e-cigs that's flooded the internet the past weeks?

Slight update, after talking with Sweet Vapes, they are sending me a replacement. They were very interested in it's crazy behavior, and after discussion and trying a few things, it seems that the boosting circuit just isn't working. The Zmax is behaving just like a mech. I'm getting what the battery has, no more and no less. Can't wait for the new one!

Update: My replacement Zmax arrived and it works perfectly! Great unit, I couldn't be more pleased! And, I really can't say enough good things about Sweet-Vapes, their service is second to none, and they take care of their customers.

And talking about buttons, both my V5 and SVD exhibit the non-firing issue occasionally. What worked for me so far is to depress the button and turn it left and right a couple of times.
Big round of thanks to Tunggua! My 6 month old Zmax V3 suddenly wouldn't fire tonight. GRRRR! Because of this thread, I knew to try Noalox on the threads. (a tip that REALLY truly works---usually) Anyway, tonight after changing to a fresh battery, I couldn't 5 click it on. I tried Yzer's technique of 100 clicks...no go. I furious searched this thread, and lo and behold...Tunggua Technique to the rescue. So far, so good, my V3 is back to form.

I love this thread...it is soooo informative, not simply mindless chit chat between friends. You are an amazingly smart and innovative group...thanks to you all.

Sooo, where's the best place/price for a new V3/V5 these days? (I like my backups) also, where can I buy replacement springs and bottom caps? Are these even available separate from the unit?

Glad the tunggua technique worked for you, MCP15.

My pick for the V5 is $46.95 from Desert Vapes with a 30-day vendor warranty. They are also hard to beat for V3: $39.95 but only have slant tops in stock right now.

Varitube is always worth consideration for V2 and V3. They cost more but still less than most US vendors and offer a 90-day vendor warranty.

The batteries are not good for pushing power.

Look at the chart at 5 amps in the description. That battery hits 3.2 zmax cut off in 100mah ! The imr lasts 5 times longer at 5 amps!!! You have to use high drain imrs because the zmax regularly pulls 6 amps from the battery for the boost circuitry, I've heard it can hit up to 8amps draw. That is why you need high drain imrs.

With what you have if you put a 3 ohm coil on it you will get equal readings. Because a 3ohm coil at 6v is 2 amps. 12 watts of power. That is the highest you can go if your batter only alows the sig to do 2 amps.... 3 ohms will perform better with more vapor than the 2 ohms your using now. Your actually losing power by over coiling for you amp limit available.

I regularly use 3 ohms. Put a 3 on it and you will get 12w @ 3ohms instead of 7.6w at 1.9ohms. More power with higher ohms due to amp limitations. You can only fully power coils 2.4 ohms or higher with a single battery. Below 2.4 you get loss due to amp load/limit

Look at shadows chart https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet...xZLVd5aDkwUEJEZXc&f=true&noheader=false&gid=1

You'll see it in black and white. Watts is heat/power. Don't short yourself. That's the power of ohms to amp limit.

Oh and welcome to the group! You'll find everything you need to know to make your sigelie work for you.

Hi yzer and Jeremy. :) This quote was from our discussion between pages 245 to 248 where you recommended better batteries. Just an update really that I think you might be interested in. I've just bought these. Some 18650's and 18350's to replace my only batteries, my underpowered torchy 18350s. These are genuine and were recommended to me.

I had the exact thing happen and same symptoms with mine, incl. solid sigelie crash, or showing software version. It was resolved by finally putting noalox on the tube threads.

To better serve ECF users of Sigelei Zmax V3 and V5 I have changed the title of our thread: Sigelei Zmax V3 Telescopic (flat top or other) reports: one week later to Sigelei Zmax V3 and V5 Telescopic: User's Group. Thanks to the ECF moderator team for assistance. This change should make the thread more accessible to V3 and V5 users.

Great idea, yzer! I'm sure it will attract new users to the thread.

Both of my three month old V3s suddenly developed severe firing and menu jumping issues this week. An alcohol scrub and liberal application of fresh noalox seems to have straightened them out.

The one with the cracked grommet (?) around the 510 connection has not yet caused any apparent leakage into the mod. But thanks to identifying this issue I now use my other Zmax for the tanks that tend to leak and am very careful not to over tighten.

There is so much valuable information here. It's good to know the quirks of our devices and the solutions that contribute to longevity. Thank you to all.

Yesterday I popped a purple 30A e-fest in my Zmax V5. I thought the zmax was performing well from the get-go with standard sanyo 18650s, but this is something else. It really gives my vape that nice crisp edge on the throathit, same goes for the 15A 18500 purple e-fest. I think it's to do with the decrease of voltage drop under load of these types of high-drain batteries. If you own one of those hybrids from e-fest (2250mah 18650) it's well worth considering these purples!
