Hmm, that looks more like it. Did you try Mean mode on it?

I'm still baffled why my V5 in RMS reads a much lower voltage, like 1 whole volt lower.
Could it be my V5 is 'not quite right'? Or the V3 runs 'differently' than the V5? Or the RMS is screwed and the Mean is somehow correct?

If not for having the SVD and Sig 20w as reference, I would have put it down to my meter playing up.

At least I do know that it can truly deliver 20w.

In wattage mode it reads highest unloaded. Voltage mode it was low. Must have something to do with how it works with no load. I took a reading tonight unloaded. and it read 7.4v at 15w with stacked high drain imr 16340s. It must sense something when it's Unloaded and The wattage mode must bypass this somehow and put out the full power unloaded.

On mean setting the chip sends enough power to equal the setting without accounting for the pwm. So it overpowers the output to compensate for the pulse down time.

I'll run more tests later too.

All menus set correctly. charged battery is reading 4.1 volts. Tried a fully charged 18350 i had laying around the house with the exact same results. And the resistance reads 2.0 ohms.

Does the body get hot while you use it? If not... Sounds like your last chance (though unlikely) is a factory reset. Take bat cap off hold the button put it on the screen should flash and give you software version. Si v 1.5 or something. Everything is reset. Reconfigure. If this doesn't resolve it sound like something's wrong with it... Can't understand what but must be defective.

Well gentlemen and ladies, thanks to an illustrious member of this storied thread, I now have TWO immortal Sigelei v3s. They are absolutely magnificent. More superlatives to follow as soon as I can think of some.
What? Two more with the immortality mod?

Slight update, after talking with Sweet Vapes, they are sending me a replacement. They were very interested in it's crazy behavior, and after discussion and trying a few things, it seems that the boosting circuit just isn't working. The Zmax is behaving just like a mech. I'm getting what the battery has, no more and no less. Can't wait for the new one!

I have been running the new Sigelei V5 constantly for just under a month. The 30-day vendor warranty expires on Friday. As an experiment I have not used Noalox on the threads. No misfires at all. That's not to say I won't be using Noalox on the V5 in the future, though.

Starting Saturday I'll return to using my 13 month-old and unmodified V3 on a primary basis.

I like the looks of the V5 with its laser-etched logos. I also like playing with the Display Current selection at Menu Item #5. Menu Item #5 also has Display Time which acts like a vapor draw stopwatch. That isn't very useful. On the two-line firing display screen I don't use the puff counter. The battery charge icon is wierd. When the battery icon hits 1/3 full the battery has reached 3.3V and it's time to recharge. Accurate battery voltage is still available at Menu Item #4 just like on the Sigelei V3s I own. I have charged my cell phone with the V5 once. This worked very well.
