Yep. Sunlight will cause the nicotine to darken in e-juice. This is oxidation of the nicotine. Oxidation is also caused by heating the nicotine. In that photo you will see that the unflavored 15mg juice I have in the carto tank is a little yellow. That's not from the Bank's Roses. This is because I have been vaping the same carto for a week and yellow nicotine oxide (cotinine) is starting to accumulate in the tank. When I refill the tank the juice I'm putting in is clear. By the time I've vaped the same carto for 10 days the juice is pretty yellow and strong tasting. That's when I replace the carto and clean the tank.

It would interesting to use sunlight for a quick steeping. I am sure you would have to monitor it since too long would kill the nicotine.

Thanks for the reply Yzer. Great info.

I've had someone else tell me that an older carto or atomizer will darken the juice, but that doesn't seem to happen to me. I can go several weeks using the same atomizer and tank, and my juice stays clear the entire time until it gets low and it's time to refill it. I've had some pretty nasty looking coils that I've replaced, but using them in that condition never seemed to darken my e-juice. In my experience it's only when I'm out in the sun that I notice that yellowing effect. It may have something to so with the lower nicotine level I'm currently vaping, but I can't remember that occurring even when I was using a higher level.

Is that maybe just a carto thing? I've never used them so I have no idea.
This may have something to do with the way cartos are built. It's easy for liquid that has been heated by the carto coil to backflow into the tank.

I'm using winter glove fingers. Cut them off at the palm, cut a couple of stitches on the end of the finger to allow the drip tip to pass to the outside and put the glove finger over the tank. Clear juice all the time. Yep that's a Vamo....didn't have my Sigeleis yet.

Several of us here bought body only Sigeleis that came in plain jane small white cardboard boxes with Sigelei logos on the sides. The Sigelei was inside wrapped in plastic. It looks like Desert Vapes is charging extra for these boxes. If they leave the mod in the factory plastic bag and wrap it in some bubble wrap it should ship fine in a bubble-lined envelope. The kits come packed in fancier Sigelei boxes.

I bought the kit and it took me about an hour to realize how crappy the included ICR batteries and charger are! The batteries are TERRIBLY underpowered and will limit the Segelei's output to about 1/2-2/3 of it's capabilities. The charger is a 1000mA that makes a high pitched electrical squealing sound and COOKS the battery. Charger and battery were WAY too hot by the end of the charge cycle. Disappointed, I ordered some Orbtronic 18650 IMR High Drain 30amp batteries and a Nitecore i4 within a couple of hours of receiving the Zmax, which was packaged beautifully but I really don't care about (or will ever use) the pretty box after I take it out. I rarely even put the Zmax down much less back in it's box!!

We have all been here. I will never order a kit. The junk just gets pitched. You over did it a bit with 30amp batteries but you you be ready for a mechanical mod. The Nitecore is my go to charger. Looking for a backup or travel charger? The single battery Xtar MC1. Less than $8.00 and a great backup.

Thanks for the info, I'm ordering one today for my wife. i've got an SVD and love it, but she likes the looks of this and your input has helped, although I didn't read all 162 pages hope none of you had real problems later lol

Cool gpc.. Can you report back what you think of it compared to your svd.. Thanks

Yesterdays my V3 was misfiring & I found my self in the menu many times when I hit the button to vape this issue lasted for about 3 hours then gone unit working fine for now any explanation for it?

Could be a ground problem, do you have noalox on the threads? I did have major issues without noalox. Obvious signs are it if locks up on you or goes to the software screen.

The switches are finicky though misfires are common. May have been a piece of dust in the switch contact that caused a temparary issue.

Yes, I may have gone a bit above necessary with the batteries but I was so frustrated with having just bought such an awesome mod (after a TON of research) only to find that I was only able to run about 5 watts on a device capable of 15!! I figured that it'd be a further waste of $ to keep incrementally purchasing better stuff when the really high end batteries were only a couple bucks more!:D

Off topic, what does the little dialog box on the lower right under each post do when selected (checked)? Looking for a way to know when someone answers, replies to or quotes my posts (aka Facebook style notifications). TIA

I have the efest 35amp batteries myself, may be more than needed, but the price was good, and didn't think it would hurt be way more than needed, also got the Nitecore i4 charger, as heard they are meant to be one of the best.

I did the same thing and bought the kit, yea that charger and batteries now sit in a draw for back up :)

Noalox on tube and battery threads will help to prevent misfires. The 510/eGo connector should be cleaned and dried with Keenex at least one a day. A loose connection at the atomizer can look like a misfire. My experience with the Sigelei switch has been very good. The eleven month-old V3 misfires once in a while. I can go a couple of weeks without getting any misfires with it and then I might have several in one day. The four month-old V3 never misses fire where my first V3 missed fire once in a while even during the first month.

It's not a good idea to put partial pressure on the kind of switch used in the Sigelei Zmaxs. Push the button to fire, don't press harder than needed to make it click. If it clicks the switch is making contact because the metal contact actually produces the sound. Do a clean release on the button. Take the thumb off the button or barely touching it after firing. This is sort of like not riding the clutch on a manual shift car.

If I opened a B&M I would sell all the stuff at cost. The profit would come from Kleenex, cotton swabs, and pipe cleaners.

I was topping off new batteries I buy in my Nightcore I2 but I've found that even though it's a smart charger, it can try to overcharge (overheat) them if the batteries are close to fully charged already.

I recently purchased 2 new IMR Efest 18650's and put them in my I2 charger to ensure they were fully charged. An hour or two later they were both very warm, which is not good (pulled them out immediately). I recall this having happened in the past with other new batteries, so I won't be topping off any new batteries (or batteries that are close to full) from now on.

I'm pretty sure this happens because the charger's internal algorithm to monitor the voltage curve needs more time over the course of charging to figure out when the right time to stop charging is. I'm confident the charger's circuitry would have stopped charging at some point, but it wasn't soon enough to avoid overheating them.

Once I discharged those new Efest batteries in my ZMax, I haven't had them overheat again during charging (was keeping an eye on them). I suspect that other chargers may have a similar limitation, so I wouldn't immediately assume your new batteries are bad or the charger is wonky if you try to charge batteries right out of the box and the batteries overheat. I would give them an opportunity to discharge normally before attempting to charge them again.

This is a very good tip. I too top off stored batteries from time to time. I have not had this issue but a good thing to monitor.
