I was just reading through this thread and realized the whole point was to check in after 7 days of owning it. Happy customer checking in

The 7-day check has been largely ignored and that's OK. This thread has been around a while. Brand spanking new owners and prospective new owners are welcome here. It's great to have new owners check in a week later and let us know how the Sigelei is doing after they have had a chance to use it a while.
One of the reasons the thread title includes the seven day bit is because I ran into some some Brand X fanbois who used to say "Well, let us know how it works a week later." I guess that mission was accomplished.
BTW, I changed my mind about using Vaseline on the threads a couple of months into the thread. It's a good lubricant for the Sigelei threads but Noalox works just as well and improves ground continuity along the tube, which is a big plus. I bought a 1/2 oz. tube of Noalox in the electrical section of Home Depot for a few dollars.

Welcome frank.gotch! This thread has just about everything Zmax in it! Glad you're enjoying your new device! I'm 2 days away from my 7 day anniversary and couldn't be happier w/ my v3!
Many thanks to Yzer for starting this thread and to everyone that has contributed. Not only did it help me decide on getting a V3 flat top about a month ago (and then a round top a week or so later) but it's been invaluable with setting them up and maintaining them. Initially, I was leery because of some of the issues that had been posted in other forums but this has allowed folks to post work-arounds and tips to improve the V3 and v5 experience ...

As Yzer already mentioned, you definitely want to get some Noalox on those threads instead of using vaseline, thread oil, e-juice, etc. IMO you will almost certainly experience intermittent problems if you don't.

The Button Conspiracy
I received a new(er) V3 Telescopic today (Saturday)from Desert Vapes. The fire button is two-tone plastic like a stack of two pancakes. The bottom layer is clear plastic............the top layer is black plastic. No more looking through the button to check the position of the board. LOL The threads were "sharp" and rough before I put Ox-Guard (from Harbor Freight) on them but they have improved already with just the one application. The software version is 1.5a. I will be using it nonstop to be sure there are no gremlins before the warranty wears out.

I got my new one (v3) from Desert Vapes last Thur. I didn't notice the fire button until you brought it up and mine is the same. I think if the board moves you will be able to tell by the display screen. I do appreciate the warranty that Desert Vapes gives on these units.
Glad you guys are liking the new Sigeleis from Desert Vapes. I wonder when 101 Vape will get new stock?

I don't think this is "Buttongate" but more an example of a manufacturer trying some minor cosmetic changes and looking so see if buyers like one over the other. They could be getting returns of Sigeleis that work perfectly well but had slightly off-center centered switch pads. After all, my older Sigelei always had a slightly crooked display and still works fine after nine months.

My newer Sigelei Zmax V3 is still working splendidly w/ a JWrap on it...
My v5 arrived today from Health Cabin and it has a metal button and the logo underneath it. I'll post pics etc when I get home from work.
update: It's the round top but my Hippo fits which I'm very happy about. This will be in 18350 mode and coming to work with me. I'm very impressed by the build quality too. The button feels solid with a good "click" when pressed.

Thanks for the photos and report, tw33K! We are seeing more of the metal buttons. I thought initially that there were two versions of the metal button but I can see from your photos it's only one. Differences in lighting can make the center of the button appear darker in some shots and not in others.
I'm wondering, at least for my version (purchased Dec 2013), if my slight screen shift & the lower button contact shift are two independent issues.
Reason being, my screen shifted first. A couple weeks later, the button contact shifted -- however, at that time the screen did not shift further. One would think it would.
Still firing fine.
I'm betting Sig did get a number of returns due to the button contact shift with the clear buttons. Hence, started making them with the metal button now, instead.
I honestly don't mind the cosmetic issue.. and would much rather prefer the clear so I can continue to monitor for any further changes that could start leading to performance issues.

Hmmm. The reply you got to your linked post doesn't sound very promising. I wonder why adding a sub-forum could pose a problem or additional hardship? Is it an issue of having to moderate an additional sub-forum? I don't want to sound crass, I'm sure it takes moderators time and effort, but I'm just unsure it would be that much of an added burden to do. Maybe it has nothing to do with that, and it's a technical aspect of the site? I have no idea - I'm just shooting from the hip.

I was a little surprised too. Could be the additional moderator resources needed. I wonder if it's also a performance issue? I know that big threads/forums tend to bog the site down.
