I'd like to put in my experience with fixing the nasty taste of some eGo-T atomizers... First, I ordered a replacement wick kit from
NHaler and ripped out the nickel mesh from a dead eGo-T atomizer. The wicks from NHaler are in strands of 6 but I remove one... then wrap a very small amount of nickel mesh around the remaining 5 (no overlap of the mesh, cut it with wire cutters or a scissors). Keeping it moist with spit or e-liquid will keep it from fraying when cutting it and putting it into the spike. The nickel mesh will hold it in place inside the spike plate itself...
The important thing seems to be to allow a bit of air between the nickel mesh and the fluting inside the spike. I used a very, very thin needle to open it up and press against the mesh... all 3 flutes get this treatment, all the while with the wick trying to escape (using my fingers to hold the wick in place while pushing the needle through between the plate and the mesh)...
I put the spike plate back and test it out a bit then removed it and cut any bit of the wick that seems too burnt - this seems to be an indication that it's too long - except a little brown that's closest to the spike plate. Cut too much and of course, it won't work at all...
If it still tastes bad, take it out again and re-do the needle treatment. I've already rescued 3 nasty tasting atties this way... and I hope I can rescue more.
By the way, the nickel mesh idea is from looking at the inside of atties from the Janty Korea store... nickel mesh is easy to work with and you can get it from almost any dead atty (not just eGo-Ts).
If anybody tries this technique, please give some feedback here.
