Nic is a stimulant and not surprisingly WILL mess with sleep patterns if over indulged. Haven't found a cure for it. Couple of Non pharmacological things to try. In the evenings, vape a lower milligram nic than you might during the day. And hey, try a bedtime tea ... The 6 Best Bedtime Teas That Help You Sleep

How long will it take to get over insomnia after chain vaping?
Non pharmacological approach.
BG, cigarette quitter, day five.
Using mtl RTA.

Turn off phone, dim the lights, lie in bed and read a book. A lot of light makes your brain think its daytime. Could try melatonin, your brain releases it naturally.

Melatonin pills are a weird one. It’s most useful for fixing jet lag. Melatonin is your body clock chemical. Flooding your brain with melatonin resets the body clock, but it will often only put you to sleep a few times.

A former smoker should already have nicotine sleep disturbance nailed though. I’m wondering if your nicotine intake has gone way up since you started vaping.

*nods* wasn't suggesting as a permanent solution, just a temporary one to get themselves back in sync.

45+ year former smoker here. I've read that certain studies have shown (don't have link) that it's not uncommon for those who vape, to take in up to MUCH more nic than they formally did with analogs ... and I agree with that at least in so far as my experience. I vape 12-18mg nic and have vaped up to 24mg at times to satisfy the urge. Even now after three+ years of vaping, if I vape a whole bunch at night ... I have insomnia or trouble getting to sleep.

Just as weirder though ... when I did smoke and before vaping, sometimes when having trouble sleeping, I'd get up, have a smoke, go right back to bed ... and sleep.

EDIT: OH ... and if I'm drunk, doesn't matter how much I vape, I have no problem getting to sleep. Just waking up. Good thing that doesn't happen very often these days but hey it's the weekend, so who knows ya know.

That's my concern as well. The 9mg mtl was not giving me the "hit" so I chain vaped... And bingo...

Yup, sometimes firing up before bedtime gets me to sleep..
Alcohol on the other hand, was my sworn enemy, I drop like a sac of beans after drinking however, 2hours max then I'm awake.... .tired, phased, and cranky AF

Yep. Getting to sleep has never been the issue for me. It’s staying asleep.

Stop using nicotine two hours before bedtime - get zero Nic ejuice for before bed so you can still vape, and see if that helps.

Also, stop thinking before bed. Thinking is the enemy of sleep. Have some prayer or meditation time to get relaxed and the day off your mind before bed.

I’ve always had insomnia, and I do all the suggested things... the one that seems to make the most difference is getting off the phone or computer early. That affects me more than caffeine- although I only drink coffee in the morning anyway.

Really strong chamomile tea helps. I used to grow my own, and I’d make it equal to three tea bags per cup. Careful if you have any pollen allergies though.

I used that for years but grew to loathe the taste.

I vaguely remember looking up chamomile tea at one point. It’s got a fairly potent soporific in it that can be bought as a prescription tablet as well. One of my sisters got a scrip for some killer sleep aid long ago that lets her sleep through the night. It’s abusable though so the scrip is near impossible to get and both me and my other sister who have the exact same problem are terribly jealous.

What's even insomnia? I remember my very first sleepless night in 1996 when I suddenly had enough money to buy a PlayStation. I played through the night up until 6am. Now an adult, I'm working the graveyard for 13 years straight now. The story is still the same. Cellphone, computers, coffee, and nicotine still give me sleepless days.

Just get off any electronic device and stimulants. Don't watch boxing fights or any sports before you go to bed. Just relax your mind and don't even think about the fear of not getting sleep. Close your eyes and count them sheeps, one to one thousand. You'll fall to sleep way before getting to one thousand... I know that sounds a lot like sesame street, but honestly, it does work. At least for me.

9mg is still pretty low and possibly contributes to chain vaping. Up your nic to 18mg to keep the craving at bay until you get a handle on not smoking. If you chain vape 18mg youll know it pretty quickly that you got too much nic at once. I started vaping at 18mg and after a few months dropped to 12 and then 6 where im comfortably at still. No chain vaping no insomnia.

bwahaha I take melatonin (both in tablet and liquid form, 5mg of each), trazodone (as a sleep aid), and benadryl and still will be awake... I've tried every sleep aid there is but....I'm lucky if I get 3 hours uninterrupted sleep
though I will say the liquid melatonin seems to work better (probably because it gets into your system directly)

but my issues aren't from nic...my brain just doesn't shut off...even in my sleep i'm aware of everything around me.

if you are able to, listen to some music, doesn't really matter what kind...just stay focused on the music and nothing else....it may help, that's about the only way I get sleep.... but for you it'd probably help with the restless feeling
supposedly spraying your pillow with lavender will help you sleep

Honestly it may not be the chain vaping it may be your body detoxing from all the chemicals in cigarettes..

The half life of nicotine in the body is 2 HOURS. (Although it can vary from 1--4 hours in some folks.) I really do not think your little chainvaping episode is causing this. You think it is, and that is a problem.

So on the safe side, say, as @Opinionated said, switch to 0 nic before bed.

Melatonin may or many not work for you. It might. Benadryl might (it's rather benign too) and chamomile tea (IMHO) has more soporific qualities than ANY over the counter tea should have.

@DeloresRose, I drink mine (when I do) with honey and milk. It tastes way better that way.

You may not need any sleep aids at all, you may just need to wait out the detox. I have never ONCE detoxed off something (including tobacco) without something of a sleep pattern adjustment. But, it goes away.

I think you and I are on the same page ..
Do I stick to regular nic or switch to salt nic ...
