As the senior partner in an advertising agency, I have a couple of quick words of advice...
1) Make sure your slogan has a wide appeal and UNDERSTANDING
(alot of these submissions are very clever, but mean nothing to someone who doesn't already know what PVs are... don't preach to the choir)
2) Avoid a slogan (and graphic) that may be dismissed as yet another 'quit smoking' scheme (yes, that is a benefit, but the market is flooded with these schemes and they are generally looked at as a waste of time and money... this is truly different and shouldn't be seen in that bad light... I won't even go into the FDA legal issues with this approach either). That's not to say you can't flirt with the idea of quitting w/V4K... just be careful! Imply it, don't say it.
3) Think about who you are trying to target... are you trying to get vapers to switch to VK? Are you trying to get more smokers into vaping? e.g. If you are placing a web banner ad on e-cig-forum, then point 1 above is not so important, but if you are talking about a broad spectrum aperture like a bumper sticker, you wanna get the attention of smokers who may not have even heard of e-cigs.

For people voting: it's easier to just keep adding your faves by using the +quote button, then just hit "Post Reply". It's like adding them to a shopping cart :)

And since there are so many duplicates it would help to have the link to the original post, IMHO.

I'm a vaper for life with Vapor4Life.

V4L - Cigarettes were never this good

Breathe easy...Vapor4Life

The Future of Smoking - Vapor4Life.com

and my own!
Vapor4Life.... liberty and the pursuit of happiness :)

On a side note- I think we really do have to stay away from health claims. While they are totally true of course, ECF rules prohibit any supplier from making health claims on their websites or in their advertising, unfortunately.

Hi JenJen; I would like to help but I don't see how this can done fairly by the forum. First off there are alot of duplicate post(time stamps) which would have to be considered and small variations of wording (who gets credit the original idea or the one word changer?). Second it seems everyone wants to choose ther own and I can't blame them. I would love to help Steve in any way I can for all he has done for us. I will do my best and will my post chocies later if it helps but ,I have to agree with henrid84 I think this is going turn into a reposting thread.

Agreed. I voted above simply because it seemed sad to just throw my hands up after so long with the mega thread... but yeah, I only made it about 8 pages in before and the submissions started sort of repeating (unintentional) and I got totally cross eyed and weary.

I think it would have been much better if the V4L staff would have picked maybe 10-20 favorites and then perhaps done a poll.

Who knows, maybe it's not too late to do it that way?

Invaluable advice, Sky-Guy. Ok - not invaluable, someone pays you for it on a regular basis - but worth infinitely more than you're being compensated for. ;)

I liked "Kick Some Butts" but it doesn't play to your Point #2 well. I'm on the fence there and I'm not sure I can entirely get behind your Point #2. It's marketing and PR's job to sell the "solution" - FUD is a standard objection to the sale that needs to be overcome in that step. In theory I agree entirely with your Point #2 - but in practice, I'd have to wonder what I'm paying my marketing and PR people for if they can't overcome something so basic.

Would you classify "Kick Some Butts" as implied or stated literally?

Yes, I think I was just hoping we could narrow things down a bit for Steve. You saw the thread, it is overwhelming how many great ideas were presented. I have received some good ideas here, and also many IMs of suggestions too so keep them coming.

Trust me, Steve and Mark will definately be pulling the ones they like, but if I can at least give them a condensed list of the ones we all like, along with how many votes they got, then Mark and Steve can look through the main thread to see if there are any there that really grab them that we may have missed and add them. Then I believe we will take the top ones and make a pool thread so everyone can vote for the winners.

Please don't include mine in with your top picks, since I am even remotely helping out with this contest I don't think it would be right to be in the running ;).

Since broad appeal is what they are looking for in a slogan, our input is really helpful to them. I know this is hard, I still haven't come up with my favorite 5 yet! lol But Steve needs our help on this so any input you have is really helpful to our boys! I will be condensing it for them tonight. He is really hoping to announce winners over the weekend to send out the prizes...

Let's have fun with this! :D

so you are relying on us to make a fair pick? most likely people would pick theirs and maybe some others to seem humble... but to bring out an honest opinion on which ones are ones top 5 with out looking at every single slogan.

I hate to say this, but I am who I am and I know others are thinking this too

I think the contest derailed...... I think either everyone can suck it up as a loss (which I know some had there hearts set out on winning

or just do a drawing of all people that entered and give out the prizes suggested....

This is just my opinion and I am sure it doesn't matter... I don't have any other suggestions but I feel this manner of selection is tilted

But my vote is for 420smiles but I can't say which five... I just remember him working hard a making tons of suggestions and he seems legit.

That is just it, I am not asking you to make a pick without looking at every slogan lol. I am asking you to look at every slogan and pick out the ones that YOU honestly think are the best. What appeals to YOU? By knowing which of the slogans have broad appeal, you are helping Steve and Mark. A few have chosen some slogans and also chosen one that they themselves posted, but so far everyone who has done that actually had a really good one that I would probably pick too so at least they have good taste lol!

Putting "any one by so and so" is not really helpful. Did you like any of them in particular?

I know I am asking a lot from you all, but it is just what I am willing to do myself to help Steve and Mark out. And if you don't want to have input that is fine, it does take time to look through it all the slogans to find the ones that make you stop and take notice, so I understand. Be assured that the boys at V4L will be making the final decisions on what ones will be the finalists, as I said before - this is just to help narrow it down for them, pure and simple. WHAT DO YOU LIKE? Steve wants to know! I think some of you are making it much more complicated then it needs to be lol! ;)

Okay so I know this is probably going to get long winded but I just spent the last hour and a half reading every single word in the entries thread. And now another half hour preparing this post.

Most of my picks are based on the idea that curiosity is what will make the website/company name stick in someones head until they got a chance to check it out.

There were a whole lot of entries that were good but I tried to avoid any that:

A) made health claims or mentioned flavors (read:avoiding FDA bs)

B)came across as a non-smoker trying to preach to smokers (because I know I would have ignored them before I even finished reading them back before I quit)

C) were ones that you'd have to be a part of this community already in order to understand

D) were recycled/partially recycled slogans from other companies

E) although funny, were not really appropriate for mass appeal

And yes I have no problem with including some of my own because if I didn't like them I wouldn't have entered them in the first place. (plus others have nominated them so they can't be all bad :D)

Only problem is, with all that being said, there is no way I could whittle it down to just 5. So I leave it up to JenJen and the V4L crew to decide whether to just count the first 5 in my list or not. ;)

No problems if you can't choose just 5. This is EXACTLY what I am looking for! Thanks a bunch! :D

And yea, so far everyone who has nominated one of their own has really had a good one so tooting your own horn is fine! Don't be shy!

After reading all of these clever tag lines, the one that gets my vote because it stands out as the most universally marketable is....

Vapor2day
Vapor2morrow

However, having said that... there's nothing that's really any better than the current slogan "because it's your life." The current slogan pretty much hits every human being who desires to take control and make a personal choice...

I think this contest got a little crazy, after reading through 20 pages I realized there are so many good ones that when I went back through those pages again I noticed I forgot some good ones, so I started writing down a list but after 45 minutes I realized this is too much work for the general forum goers. It makes it so the few speak for many, those that are willing to do the extra work (I am not counting those that vote for themselves lol).

To get the widest picture, keep it fair, and make sure the entrys picked fit Steve or Marks style, I think they should pick 15 to 20 of their favs and leave us to vote on that. I think more people will take the time to look at 20 slogans than 20+ PAGES of slogans hehe.

okay, I know I'm gonne get pooped on for this, but so far the ones posted above all imply or mention being able to quit smoking, or longer life. Is that really what we want to be claiming - especially as a corporate slogan?

I dunno... The thing is, on their website V4L's current slogan is: "Because it is your life!!!" and under that, it states that someone dies from smoking every eight seconds. So I'm pretty sure that subtle implications are okay, and as long as you don't make any DIRECT health claims, than its fair game :thumb:
