Has anyone else come across smokers like this? I was standing outside work the other day vaping. I used to be a smoker but gave up in January. I got chatting to a guy who I work with who is a smoker and he said "oh you're onto those now [vaping]" and I said yeah and mentioned how much money I'd saved. His response was "hmmm, I'm not buying that". Smoking, I spent upwards of £35 a week. vaping, I probably spend £5 a week on, if that. So obviously that's flawed completely.

Then my mum said she was talking to a man the other day who was smoking and she'd mentioned about me switching to vaping. His response was "yeah but that's still as dangerous". Has anyone else found this? Like smokers trying to justify that vaping is just as bad? I mean, if you want to smoke and not give up, then that's obviously your choice and that's fine but there's no denying how dangerous it is for your health, as well as the ridiculous expense of it.

Plus, those that keep saying that vaping is dangerous, since giving up smoking, I've taken up running and in the first 2 weeks, ran about 45 miles! I'm pretty sure when I was on the cigarettes, I wouldn't have been able to run a mile!

I have three words that does with the info in OP:
1. ALL
2. TOO
3. WELL

It happens to me on a weekly to bi-weekly basis - and as mentioned previously: Always from someone with a cigarette in their hands.

I have also often come across the theatrical cough from smokers when I vape nearby - And I snicker every time!
- Specially when the fake cough turns into a real cough, and they're hacking out a lung.

It does feel like the smokers try to justify themselves, and their bad choices - that's not my problem. I feel good about what I do, and so should you!

That being said: When people enquire about what I'm doing, I of course take the time to explain and educate. We all should.

I can sympathise with you but remember so many folk have been spoon fed misinformation of late and of course smokers who aren't ready to quit will always find "reasons" to continue - I know I was one.
I'm lucky both here in Hawick vaping has taken off big style - there are two vape shops on the main street and you can never walk downtown without seeing just about every other person sucking on a box mod (Scotland always did smoking big style) and in Mijas in Spain most of the expats I know have switched to vaping too.

I have encountered several smokers with that attitude.

Most of them hear tge bad press on tv and believes its all true. I defeat it instantly.

In vaping tgere are four components. PG, VG, flavor and nicotine.

In cigarettes you get potassium nitrate, tar, tobbaco alkaloids. Butane vapors, carbon monoxide, formaldehyde, and 6,500+ other noxious chemicals.

Are there bad press about vaping. Sure there are. They use mechanical mods and don't care to learn ohms law and they build below the safe resistance for their batteries and sure the battery vents or explodes from their lack of knowledge

I have an uncle who's doctor made him switch to vaping and he did for a while. Then he started telling me how much more dangerous vaping is and went back to smoking. One night we were drinking and when he got a little drunk, he admitted to me that he was using the "more dangerous than cigarettes" excuse because he was not ready to quit smoking yet. It was a way to get his wife off his back.

Well smoking better than Vaping. I know that's not true. I'm living proof. Some smokers will say it's cheating. But that's not true.
You have to do your own research to know that Vaping is the way that you want to go and why. Like anything else in life. If you own it; you're committed to win. And you will Win

Honestly most smokers i encounter are not even familiar with vaping ...or have seen it but don't understand it. They are mostly curious and full of questions. Then there are those who look out of curiosity, but you can tell are not interested because they have no interest in putting down their cigs.

Now i do have a daughter and son in law who ask me about explosions they see reported and they are always left with the impression that's it's the devices that are malfunctioning and question it. They also see the bad media reports on the health dangers associated with vaping and question that as well.

I try and explain to them it's the batteries that are exploding and that there are no proper warning labels or inserts explaining the dangers therefore many are not aware of how to properly handle the batteries. I also try and explain to them that there are just as many studies supporting vaping as a healthier alternative as there are studies who feel it's not...i then encourage them to do some googling on the various researches out there and leave it up to them to make their own choice on which to believe. I don't get into conspiracy theories because for most people that is a turn off and looks like i am trying to dodge negative articles because i simply love vaping.

This is my approach whether it's my daughter or some stranger on the street asking about these things.

Most who are spoon fed the bad press from the media don't know about sites like ECF where they can come and find the best information about vaping. Their only exposure to information on vaping is via the press.

You have to educate them and provide the information sources that they can use to make an informed decision. After that, it's up to them.

I have experienced this in every aspect you can think of as many here have said. One of the most annoying things is the ones who are misinformed or just saw it on the news. When I feel like I am talking to the "Wall" I just say well Cigarettes hadve 7,00 chemicals and this only has "1"! Then when I see that that has not placated them enough I throw in how I switch to ZERO nicotine regularly so I do not have the 1...........

YMMV................... :2c: :censored: :vapor:

One of the things I try to do is to not be an X Smoker who has an attitude about smoking like many X Smokers do. Although I do agree that most heavy smokers smell disgusting to me now there are still times that an analog still smells good to me since it has only been just a little over a year and a half since I quit. Especially if it is an MD Red.................

May Smell good but still will resist the urge by vaping to quench that urge... :vapor::vapor::vapor::vapor::vapor::vapor:

Where I live, there aren't many vapers, not that I see anyway. But I work in Central London and when I went back to work (I had 2 years off while having children), I was amazed at how few smokers I saw and how it seemed most were now vaping.

I feel so much healthier now vaping. When I smoked, I wasy pretty much always wheezy. If I took a deep breath, I could hear it in my throat but I don't have that any more.

And my brother's mother in law has lung cancer. I think it's terminal but, as she was about a 40-50 a day smoker, her doctors recommended that she try some form of e-cigarette. This - probably combined with the cancer diagnosis - helped her kick the habit and, even though she still has cancer, she's still going 2 years on.

The main thing that I get annoyed about when smokers try and make fun of or tell you all negative things about vaping is that I don't care if they want to smoke, so why should they care if I want to vape instead? It's our own bodies, we choose to do what we want with it. If you don't want to give up smoking, don't but until you have tried vaping or at least done some valid research on it, then I don't think you can really comment on those who vape.
