You have an 808 batt pushing a 510 dualie with an adapter?
Fill us in....in detail.

I have a crappy 808-510 adapter -- wonky threads, wonky connector post, very airy. It works OK on the Buzz. It works OK on the 808s (380mah). And, yes, the 808s run the dualie, at least for short duration, but not very well. I haven't done an all-day test to see how it handles it, but on a freshly charged 808 (4.2v) and a little run down 808 (3.75) it's making vapor and flavor. But nothing compared to how a dualie runs at 3.75- 4.2 on the Buzz. I will not be using the dualies on my 808s nor can I recommend them based on my limited experimentation -- the flavor, the TH, the vapor is just not there, enough. I am sticking with IKV's mega-808 cartos for my 808 batts; dualies and Fusions (if I can ever get them, again :) ) on my Buzz.

Ah, but it's working on a 510, 150mah battery.
Are you saying this is specific to a 808 battery?

I'm not sure if an 808 battery has any protection circuits that would limit it below 2.3 amps,
but running a 150mah battery at 2.3 amps is definitely over stressing the battery, (not a good thing!!)

Stosh.
So what do I lose by shortening the life of a 150mah battery? They work and i double checked what i paid...$8.99.
No loss, or quite minimal. I carry 2 with me and get a day out of em, or ~15 drops of fluid.

I do want to kick it up a shade with either a 250 or 350mah, but I "Do Not" have any desire to go to a oversized overweight battery.
I can buy a lot of $8.99 batteries and enjoy the light weight.

Over-stressing a LiCo battery is the perfect way of turning it into a firecracker. This is why there is a warning NOT to charge a regular sized 510 battery on and ego charger, the over amperage can cause the battery to explode or vent flame. Too much amperage going in or coming out can be dangerous. The replacement battery is cheap, the replacement house not so much.... :)

They never get warm (first indicator in a battery). On the house thing, that's an exaggeration, and they are not stressed under a charger. We're also talking a few seconds puff (4 to 5 max) at any one time.
you obviously will do what you please and that is fine but Stosh is pointing out potential dangers and I personally think that is a good thing. It is totally fine that you use these on a standard 510 but suggesting that others should follow suite is irresponsible. I am not saying that you are telling people to do it but people do see these posts and think its ok and it is not. As far as the replacement house being an exaggeration, you are wrong. While it may be unlikely, it is still a possibility that a battery can start a fire in a house while on a charger.

Obviously like I said, we get to do what we want but making it seem ok to people is not the right thing to do. Not trying to be rude or mean, I just think if you want to take these cartos outside there suggested use then do it quietly instead of suggesting it is ok.

^Again, I'm not charging the batteries on anything but suggested chargers, so no fire dangers of charging a wrong way.
As far as dangers of using too much drain on a 510 with a very low ohm carto, it is very short quick drains. About 3 to 5 seconds at a shot is not a hazardous event. The only thing to get warm is the carto...never the battery.
The only disadvantage is the usage time is shortened.

I am not an unsafe person by nature, but unless something specific can be shown of dangers, I will disagree.
Folks are routinely running 2 and 2.5ohm carto's on these stock batteries with no (discussed) concerns on battery detonation/fire/etc , that I have seen. This is 4/10ths of a ohm less than a 2ohm carto.

In other words..show me.

Show me the dangers.
I don't over charge or fast charge so the batteries are not stressed during charge. Stock charger only.
I also don't woof on these things with a stock battery. No need. A 3 to 5 second draw meets the draw of a 2ohm of 4 seconds plus. NEVER have I noticed a battery getting warm, which is the first sign of an issue.

No one is screaming a 2 or 2,5ohm will blow up or flame out on a 510 battery. This is 4/10ths of a ohm less.

When someone tells me a battery will detonate and go up in flame, it piques my curiosity, but needs proven, and conditions need shown.
Thus far I haven't seen anything posted here or elsewhere on this...so ....Show Me.

Have a look on You Tube for Lithium Ion fire. There are a lot of videos showing what happens when these things go bang.

Ok, Did so. And thanks for the lead to chase.^
No mention of e-cig batteries, yet I see the laptop batteries which are multi cell, and over pushed past their own protect circuits ability. Yes these (e-cig 510 batteries) have an overcharge protect circuit that can go up on ANY e-cig battery if it fails. That's why during charge, when done charging it goes into protect.

I again note that if you overheat a battery it can go up, but if it is physically cool, there is no concern I have seen so far.
I also have said i the past, that the only thing that can obviously go wrong is shortened battery life from continued battery charge and discharge, since usage time is greatly reduced.
So until I see obvious proof of a danger (and I am open to any info) I continue enjoying dual coil cartos in a cig sized battery. The ONLY prove disadvantage I've witnessed so far is reduced usage time, and a need for recharge on a more regular basis compared to normal. I will buy that over the life of the battery, lifetime will be reduced, but even that hasn't been proven out yet.

Don't our batts also protect from over-discharge? My batts do not turn on if there is a big load (ie shorted coil). I would also think the designers of the protect circuit, should this circuit fail, default to an open circuit.

And that is obviously totally fine that you continue to do so, I just do not see how you can be so confident, when these have not been out for all that long. Like I said last time, the only problem I have is you making it seem ok to everyone when we have obviously not been using these for long enough to know exactly how they will react with all the different brands of standard ecig batts. I think that it is more safe to error on the side of caution and maybe after 6 months you and other people would have a better idea of everything that will and can happen when using these with standard 510 batts. Do you know what I am saying?

Totally understand but also won't fall for false claims made without basis, either.
Just like on another thread where there are folks telling a lite cig smoker to consider 24 to 36mg fluid/carto's. Bad info totally!
There is a lot of misinformation out there, and I call for proof.

No I am not pushing what I do, but I also see little option in trying these duallies with cig sized batteries, since I really don't like bigger units. I have 2 options. 1) make em work...or 2) don't use em. I have em working and am running experiments on em.
But I won't buy they will burn my house down or explode in my face.

I'm not new to the scene (1 yr, and have been retailing e-cigs for 6 mo.) and everyone also tells that after a newbie gets established, he will want to go to X or Y large batteries and higher voltage. It may be because they are proud or pleased with them. It might also be because some here see financial gain...I don't know. Again..misinformation.
I want something I can hang in my mouth and use like a normal cig, without drawing the Cops while driving, wondering what I am tokeing up with. Something normal, not pushy or showy .

It's what I come to ECF to try and avoid. Misinformation !
........

Yeah, it seems like the 808D-1's have that protect, and (to my testing) won't fire off. The 510's ?
Do they have a protect limit on a 510? Dunno. I haven't run em shorted or at very low ohm to try.
A 150mah battery in 510, powers em with reduced time between charging as expected.

@earthpig: If your happy with the small bats units, why even go for dual coils? These are cartos for us heavy users. I can suck down a 180 mah battery in 15 minutes. I was a 3 pack a day smoker before I swapped to vaping. Those little units, and cartridges were completely impracticle for my needs. Even a regular carto is impracticle because it takes me no time to burn the juice in it. Before these dual coils came out, I was using MAP tanks, with the horrible performance of the CE2s, but at least I didnt have to re-fill every 30 minutes.

This carto is a miracle for heavy PV users. Overkill for the cartridge guys and drippers. It allows amazing performance, especially at high volts with short draw times and the convenience of a large capacity on them. 6 volts + PG juice and these things hit like a truck: perfect for me and people that just don't get satisfaction out of the little kits.

#1 problem people have with e-cigs when they are trying to change off analogs is the satisfaction. They forget to chain vape like they did a cig. They take a couple of hits every once in a while, and constantly feign for a cig. Long draw times on bad performing e-cigs doesn't help matters. You dont suck a cig for 15 seconds trying to get a good hit, why would anyone want to have to suck an e-cig that long. Video review after video review you see them sucking units WAAAAAAAAAY longer then you would ever drag off a cig. Hard to get satisfied that way. The natural evolution of this is move to bigger bats, higher volts, and better performing cartos or tank systems. I turn wrenches for a living, I'm constantly cut up and my body hurts. The stress level of diagnosing every single make of car and truck and bus made in the last 100 years, and diagnose it perfectly eats me up. I needed my cigs, not some wimpy little puff of vapor with nothing in it.

There are a lot of lite users out there, and I always wonder why they don't quit altogether. If I could get down to just half a pack a day, it would have been gravy to dump the whole addiction. Why pvs and juice delivery systems seemed to be designed for lite smokers, I have no idea. If you that close, and you can go so many hours without a cig, I would pray you just one day forget to smoke, or that you ever smoked, and be done with this bull.... addiction altogether.

Stownz,

For starters everybody doesn't vape in the same style as you do Stownz and there are many different ways to enjoy vaping. I use 6v on almost everything now that I have and it satisfies me when I need Nic. However right now I am thoroughly enjoying a new Vortex Carto on a old V4L KR8 and it is totally satisfying to me right now and I'm enjoying the heck out of this rig. It's also nice to sometimes just use a e-cig the size of a reg cigarette, it's just a good feel. These are only a few of the reasons to vape in other ways then just using the big hardware you do. Lastly sometimes less can be more, especially when it comes to enjoying the flavor in some liquids.

With a dual coil on, I certainly don't go through a 510, 150mah in 15 minutes. It equals to an equivalent pack of cigs to approx 15 cigs on one battery. So for me, 2 batteries a day is nearly doable...even in the 150mah. I do want to try a 510, 250mah and even have tried (unsuccessfully) on a 250 and 350mah KR808D-1 battery with an adapter.

Also,, I'm inhaling exactly as I do with real cigs. Same length of time and same draw (or very close). I still smoke (but 1/4 of what I did.) so I do have a reference point.

So the options are out there, but at present I'm running tests on not only the dual coil for longevity but also to see what kind of life I get from a 510, 150mah under these conditions. Thus far, I've been running 2 510, 150mah batteries for a month or more under these conditions. I see no degradation in longevity of charge yet.

You see. Low Voltage can produce the same vapor , or near, as a High. It's a matter of getting resistance in line with the voltage to match. This way I don't need to go with a large unit, which I dislike.
