OT note: black cats are awesome. My amazing, wonderful, late black cat Zara was the light of my life for the time I had her. Depending on cultures, black cats are either insanely lucky or insanely unlucky. I choose to believe the former because there are very few things as awesome as living with a miniature panther.

Also, mods that work are kinda cool.

So nobody wants to buy my weapons grade uranium scaffolding pole mod?

It's a game changer. It's the future. It has a 510 connection (not included)

In all seriousness. There isn't really a debate here. An unprotected mod which encourages and allows for battery stacking with no vent holes is an accident waiting to happen. I thought that vaping was a progressive art... Something that improved over time, with new products coming out which make the experience better... At this stage why are we even debating the pro's and cons of a mod which doesn't even take into account the most basic and fundamental safety precautions. It shouldn't be on sale. Vendors shouldn't stock it. Full stop.

Think about it. If someone blows their face off. It won't be Smoketech the person sues. It will be the supplier of the mod. Is this a risk worth taking?

It's obvious that the owners of these Chinese companies don't keep up with what's actually going on with people who vape. In my opinion Smoketech are a company who used to be great, and produce consistent products. Now they seem to be releasing ill-informed, substandard rubbish... It's incredible how the market shifts. So quickly... You release a Stardust, that pretty much works. Awesome. A lot of people I know use them.. Then every other company out there tries to do the same thing, to get a cut of the market... Leading to complete confusion as to what works and what doesn't. Flooding the market with knockoffs does nobody any favours.

I think it's in the hands of vendors to talk to their customers and look at their sales. The stuff that sells well, and you don't get complaints about is the good stuff. The stuff that sells slowly and you get a lot of complaints about. Stop selling it... You don't have to sell everything on the market... In fact. The more stuff you offer. The more confusing everything becomes and the more potential customers you lose.

Don't buy it. Vendors. Don't buy Smoketech beta products. It's going to hurt your businesses... Lately they release 4 terrible things and one reasonable thing. All you have to do is watch last week's and this week's VapeTeam shows to realise this... Alternatively, you can try their Stardust ripoff for yourself. And realise it simply doesn't work. At all. (I did. That makes me a complete idiot)

They are literally ripping everyone off. It's not an argument. It's a fact. We are being too kind, as consumers.

Their Stardust ripoffs don't wick.
Their rebuildable tank is pointless. Unless you are willing to spend time and effort trying to make it work like a Genesis. It never will. The simple fact is, that the only people willing to spend the time and effort to make it work like a Genesis, are Genesis owners... It's an oxymoron.
Their telescope mod is woefully substandard. My scaffoldmod is far superior. (Superiority not included)

I'm of the opinion that I have spent enough money speculating of vaping products. What annoys me is that a company like Smoketech (who do make good products on the whole) have had a spate of releasing rushed, rubbish.

Where's the Quality Control? We are going backwards. It's stupid.

SF ,

You have gained a whole new level of respect from me. I appreciate you putting your ... on the line for us here. I know that reveiws like this that are very critical and even damning of a product regardless of the warrant can hurt credibility and relationships.

The fact is I was looking at this mod when it first debuted and consider buying one just on price alone. It appears that after your review I will not be purchasing one.

Watching many reviewers , they are soft when it comes to reviewing a hazardous or inferior product. They may say ahh it works good but it may be a little unsafe blah blah blah, I am glad that you came out and confronted it and backed it up. Even if the vendors and manufacturers get cranky. We need more poeple like you reviewing this stuff. They should appreciate when products are given glowing and also when you bring to light issues that are inherent with poor product design.

Thanks SF.

Maybe a noob question but why do people want these mods anyway? You can get ego batteries that are 1300mah, isn't that enough for a day's vape then overnight charge?

This thing sounds dangerous, i'm no expert on pipe bombs but i guess a bad battery might increase pressure and then it'd be like a grenade. My biggest concern about a bad battery that is leaking might be inhaling whatever toxic substances it has inside.

there's a COOP running right now for a smoktech Telescope. They should be receiving any day.

I don't know enough about this whole thing, but I would certainly feel better if those people had a "heads up" if they didn't get one already.

I did not read this whole thread, so if i'm out of line mentioning this, just ignore. :) If anyone thinks it's appropriate otherwise, it's over in coop

People have already told us. Some even wanted the coop shut down. They are shipping the new with vent holes that's why we don't have them yet.

Thanks to everyone who has been so supportive of this video!

Nobody wanted the co-op shut down FYI.

But fingers had to be pointed and comments had to be made because some were so eager to get their new toys, they would have used them no matter the lvl of warnings anybody could have made.

I might also point out that starting co-ops in haste w/o checking the product safety should be addressed.

Hope a lesson has been learned from all here, myself included.

Does that voids the co-op running as it doesnt meet ECF safety criteria?

(I think its a rule?)

Flip side....nice threads on that thing :)

I guess I read this wrong then that this should void the. Co-op since it didn't meet the safety criteria.

Cheers for this! was about to put my coin down for one (would have been my first "Mod") but now I'll keep a bit more of an eye out on the vent thing ( hey, I'm still a newbie).

Hi Rich, you've picked up an old thread. Since this thread was started Smoktech changed the telescope and they now come with vent holes. Lots of people have bought them and had no issues. This thread was very useful at the time but is out of date now.

What kiwivap said. This is old news now. The Telescopes are vented fine...and are TERRIFIC little mechanical mods! I have a "black chrome" (also called "gun metal") one and am absolutely in love with it. Solid, hefty and reliable. The bottom firing button is wonderful...especially for someone like me who has hands that tend to cramp a bit. If you were interested in this mod, I'd say GO FOR IT. I have lots of mods and PVs....including VV. The telescope is my favorite!
