I'm getting lots and lots of use out of mine at 3.6 to 3.7v.... with my LR AVA ... 1.7 Ohm. It's the only PV that i like the AVA with, and it is very satisfying.
I don't know how to check anything on it; too lazy to figure it out from the Videos... just that first up on the LED is V up and i set it and go. It's a 3.0 volt version, from Time East.
One thing I will say is BE CAREFUL threading the cap... mine is semi permanently off about 1 mm. now that i must have grooved that on first batt installation, but it's not keeping me from enjoying anything and you can hardly see it. I say semi because if there is no batts in, i can thread it on right...

Got mine a few days ago Black one rocking a DCT with a 3.0 ohm Carto and a 510 adapter, its become my favorite mod. There are certain nit picks like the super thin well around the connection if liquid was to get in there would be hard to clean. Second thing the bottom cap squeals like a cheap horror film when taking it off or putting it back in. Outside of those two issues great all around device
I should have known, when i heard that squeeking and felt the grittiness of the cap threads... in my mind i'm thinking " oh i'll clean it up later; for now i just want to vape this beast!"

Guys make sure to put some noalox or dielectric grease on the cap threads to prevent any issues. Mine threads in very smooth, I think thats the only issue on the vmax. Other than that it is a superb beast!

If it has a battery chamber "end cap", YOU MUST AND ALWAYS SHOULD PUT NOALOX OR A TYPE OF CONDUCTIVE LUBRICANT ON THE THREADS THEN CAREFULLY SCREW THE END CAP ALL THE WAY ON, AND ALL THE WAY OFF A FEW TIMES !!!!! (please make sure to NOT crossthread the cap)
It will smooth out the threads and make it ""SILENT"". It takes 1 minute to do this and it only takes a very small amount to go a long way. Do yourself and your mod a HUGE favor..... GET SOME NOALOX !!!!!

The above does not apply to the notcigs buzz pro and infinity pro, where the intentional path is cap to tube edge, not to tube threads.
(Noalox does not globally apply, some vendors are specific about saying not to use it.)

Thank you for clarifying that, I did forget that their are a few tube mods that do not call for this but 89% of them do and the VMAX is most definitely one of them. Thanks again for that Mark.

I just used some of the juice I normally vape to lightly oil the threads and have had no trouble getting the cap on. I am careful and do not force it.

Lonnie, if you go back a few pages theirs a post on all the info you should know about the Batteries and the VMAX. You should deffinately take a minute to read it before purchasing your batteries. I know (so far) their are a few people out there who purchased some AW IMR 18350 batteries that were rewrapped knock offs (deffinately NOT AW batts). And some that are suppose to be AW brand but for some very odd reason do not fit in the end caps I.D.(internal diameter). I and quite a few others who may have followed my opinionated advice or knew already 1st hand have had success using the ONLY vendor I use to get my AW batteries and Ultrafire WF-188 Charger for them. You might want to try these guys rather than to run the risk of possibly having 1 or more of the issues that have came as of late and recent information. The earlier post I was refering to above has the link with detailed instructions but I'll post the link here also.

Also, if anyone has loved ones or anyone you care about in N.east Florida, you may want to give them a call and see if their ok and if you can do or send them anything to help. We had a very bad tropical depression (small hurricane Beryl) come thru with a direct hit to where Im located. Over 26,000 people are still without power, so far I've heard of no casualties or fatalities but it's still very early in the cleanup procedure. Anyway FYI, incase you didn't know, if you don't know anyone here then please keep the less fortunate who lost their homes or were flooded beyond repair in your thoughts and prayers. Thanks everyone.
Yep, when going for AW batteries it's best to go for a trustworthy vendor / authorised dealer. Super-T has the best prices, for unde 36$ he even shipps with 3,99 to anywhere on the globe. David always includes tests conducted on the cells on the site or on the forum for those that like a bit more info. There's a big difference between using good batteries or " oh, look, these seem ok and are cheaper " kinda batteries.
On the charger topic, most people that know their stuff would go for a Pila charger. Lately with the improved Xtar WP2 II and the latest Xtar SP2 charger ( wich would be the one i'd recommend because it charges EVERYTHING, including 26650 and has the 2 Amp charge for those big cells - it can be set to charge 0,5A for small cells, 1A for 18650 cells , or 2A for big ones ) , Pila seems to be less and less of an attractive option. The new Xtars cut charging completely, meaning you can forget about your cells for days and they dont overcharge, just like Pila does, but at half the price, even 30% of the price if you take into account that they come with the car charger included.

+1 for Super T and their awesome genuine AW's. Those that don't go this route will never know what they're missing and there is now plenty of info on this thread to support this statement. Except that I know what I'm missing...the money I threw away on the crap knockoff batteries I initially bought that I'll never use again.

Thats exactlt what the Ultrafire WF-188 does, it has switchable settings for different batteries and a Intelli-chip like the Pila that will NEVER overcharge your Batts.....including IMR's which are known for sometimes getting overcharged by certain chargers that don't have this technology. But I Agree the Xstar is a nice charger I just hate those dumb donut spacers, gimme a slide spring please. And the WF-188 is only $16 bucks or so, it might only be a 2 channel but most don't realize it has a maH rate charging seletable switch and voltage rate charging selectable switch, and charges everything from a 18350, 10440, up to a 26650 flawlessly, easily, and ALWAYS TO 4.21V no matter ICR or IMR. Not bad for $16, The biggest BANG for the buck (my opinion ofcourse)
WP2 II is running $18 shipped, including second pair of spacers, though I hear you on the spacers 
(not bad if you just put them in and leave them, but not a thrill if you are swapping them in and out) I ended up picking up a second WP2, one dedicated to 18650/1 amp, the other for 16340/500 mA. Outlet timer drives a little power strip that the chargers operate off of.

Three days of solid use and the fun starts.
The newer version that i have does these things by default when you insert batteries :
You get 123-456-789 message , sets itself to 3.0v , display is turned off so only blue light from led is active.
I set the voltage higer, wanted to vape, i got the 123-456-789 message. Thought the batteries were not properly inserted so checked, it did it again. I try some other batteries, again... well.. i turned on the display to see what's happening , set the voltage, and it's working. Thought " ah, some weird glitch " ... couple of hours later i realise the display is on and want to turn it off. As soon as i did that, i kept getting the 123-456-789 message again. Tried different batteries, same result.
So basically, besides mistery voltage ( wich i dont mind a lot ), now i MUST have the display turned on in order for it to operate "properly".
I guess NOW i can back-up smoktech properly when they insist with their 128 dollar recommended sales price, lol .
