that's what I'm hoping - I thought i had read somewhere that the new ones had dimples instead of the lighting bolts (too many pages to go back and re-read lol) - just trying to find a local supply for a set of batteries, it's gonna take a few days for the vendor to re-send some

Only the SS finish has the dimples. Beware the cheap knock off batteries on the vmax. They will simply not perform like the AW's or E'fests. Probably ok if you absolutely must get it going right now but don't pass judgement on the vmax until it is equipped with proper batteries. The difference is night and day.

I would not put anything lower than the AW IMRs in this puppy (if I recall properly it was your posts about sub-par battery performance in the max much earlier in this thread that steered me clear of buying the batteries the vmax vendor was selling)
I actually found a vendor in the next city over (Guelph) who carries the AW IMRs - called and left a message, just waiting to hear back from them - this sucks! I've been waiting since Friday to try this thing! lol

I feel your pain and will be praying for your AW's to get to you quickly as possible! :)

RTD is one vendor on ecf that has $1.95 shipping for AW's. not sure that appoies to Canada though. There's got to be some AW vendors in Canada though I'd think.

If there is a Vendor by you that sells Efest 18350 IMR's(Nipple Top), they are just as good as the AW's and are cheaper! Hope you get things rolling for you! :)

i have a 510 to 510 adapter. not sure if its what called a shorty. Where can I find one? suggestions?

Be a good idea to shop around a little as they can be priced from one on sale to five dollars regular price plus freight. My short extenders protrude 1/4" when screwed all the way in.

Just looked and MadVapes has them for two dollars. V2 510 Shorty Extension- Unsealed

One of the BEST $3 dollar products out there is a "SEALED" 510 to 510 "shorty" adapter or extension. Screw it on, leave it,,,never take it off...if the threads ever get messed up you unscrew it , put on another $3 adapter instead of a whole new mod/device. Not to mention keeps your device connection clean and dry form juice ,.....for the most part anyway. Thats the 1 thing thats on top of every VMAX...and every other device I own.

If one doesn't have a sealed unit a toothpick works well to plug it, plus one can unplug it if there's a need. :)

Just want to double check which version of the max I have here (no batteries yet) - vendor I ordered from called it a Rev4 (gunmetal) - vmax box says black chrome, it has "lightning" bolts instead of dimples on top and bottom caps, instruction leaflet says it defaults to 5v and calls it an itube (are these just generic instructions they haven't bothered to change yet?) thanks in advance

Technicallly that's a version 2. These vendors find out there's a new version and blast that number on every model. The V2 internals are the same internals their putting in ALLLLLLLL of them now even the "V3 SS eGo connector with Blue display".

Needless to say "expensive weekend" is quite a ""UNDERSTATEMENT"". You dropped a very pretty penny for all those items. I hope you like them all after getting to play with them.

The beauty of it is that if I don't like something it's not like I can't turn around a sell it, thats the excuse I use when I buy gear to the wife. Not like cigs, nothing to show but a bit of lung butter from them lol

I have no doubt that I will be thoroughly impressed with all 3 items, I love my ody more than any device I own and the pen should be damn near as good

Question about a Nova I have: I'm getting a really odd taste when I hit my Max lately. Not really a burnt taste - but it's gross. It tastes like the flavor I have in the tank, but with something else.. idk, something bad (maybe it's the wick? it takes like materials, but it's not the common dry burnt taste - there's definately flavor mixed in with it) I know it's not the juice because I've tried a couple different flavors on several different devices, and they perform amazing on anything other than THIS particular vivi. I've even used the same juice on another identical stock vivi nova with no problems. I've YET to replace anything on it after having it over a month. Stranger still: When I get the bad flavor, I'll hold down the button away from my mouth for several seconds, and the next hit is fine - completely normal. But the next toke after that is bad, UNLESS I fire it for several seconds, cool it down then vape on. I'm planning on tearing it down tonite, but I'm at work atm and don't have anything else to vape. Looking for suggestions on what the problem might be..

May be the wick and coil is gunked up and you're getting its flavor? I usually rebuild mine every week anyway, its easy and cheap!

I rinse it out with every new flavor but you might be right. What mat is best for wicking? There are several craft shops near me in KC (hobby lobby, michaels, joannes off the top) so i'm hoping to avoid shipping and postman stalking.

What a waste of time that would be, they are really pressed together too tightly to disassemble without damage, IMO

Errol , I am referring to Ravens here not 510 shorty, just forgot to use quote button

As it works out I have a fairly well equipped shop and was able to get one apart without damage. Drilled out the juice feed hole to double it's original size and even modified the inner tube to where I could rotate the outer tube to open/close the feed hole. Further mods to where it would still seal in a tank. The end result was a PITA. A little more time possibly would have produce desirable results but I got bored and tired of cleaning up the mess each time I had to take it apart. Possible a little more patience would have produced a workable adjustable feed unit.

Did you use NR(non resistance) wire at the ends of your resistance wire. If you did NOT then it's the little white rubber O-ring at the bottom getting hot and possibly melting. With the stardusts, vision eGo's, and Smoktech SCT's they use a high temp silicone separator ring to keep the +/- separated. That material won't melt or put off a funny taste. The VIVI NOVA however uses a white rubber O-ring at the very bottom that WILL get hot and melt putting off a horrid taste. You have to use NR wire at the ends so no current actually comes in contact with the "rubber" O-ring. Hope that helps.

Very good post VAPENJ350. That may be the issue here. When you take the head off look at the bottom and see if the ring is burnt.
The material I recommend for wicks is cotton yarn, natural. Boiled several cycles with clean water. It is simple to re-wick the ViVi Nova. I would say SS Mesh, but it takes a bit to get the hang of and you would likely have to have it shipped.

YAY! I'm officially a maxer now! - Happy Vaper did a great job sending me replacement batteries (shipped yesterday, arrived this morning) Vmax has a really nice "solid" feel to it now. getting good TH and excellent vapor production but I have a case of vapers tongue and can't really taste much right now
is there anything out there that actually fits in the "ego well"? I'm using a 510 to ego adapter but the center pin on the max is so high nothing screws down fully
