Hi all and Happy Holidays! Hope you had a good one.
So I've been vaping full time since mid October. While I'm still searching for the elusive 'all day vape', the only thing I've really missed about smoking regular cigs is the flavor.
Or rather, what I thought the flavor was.
Let me explain. Over Christmas we visited a friend who smokes Marlboro lights. While I was never a huge Marlboro fan, I did smoke them from time to time and they were fine. I bummed a smoke from my friend because one thing I've missed about analog smoking was the flavor. I wasn't concerned that having a real cig was going to drive me back into the arms of my PAD + addiction. I just wanted a nice smoke after a great meal.
Here's how I remember cigarette smoke flavor: Dark tobacco flavor with hints of spice and the bite of nicotine and whatever else they put in the dang things. An acquired taste, but comforting.
Here's how it tastes 2 months later: Acrid burnt flavor with a top note of chemicals. Tasted like how a wet pile of leaves you dumped gasoline and garbage on smells once you really get that mess burning. Cig felt flimsy and cheap in my hand.
The flick of the lighter still felt great, though.
Observations: I was pretty disappointed with my bummed cigarette.
Now I'm really craving that flavor I miss. I just know now I'll have to recreate my perception of what that flavor was, because the real cigarette Does Not taste how my brain tells me it did.
Our brains and taste buds are funny things.
