The A-mod clone I have seems to be one piece I can't say for sure though. I can tell you A-mod is my new favorite company as they make a quality product and they have pretty good customer service from my experience. The only gripe I have with the SMPL clone and og is the brass contact other than that I love this mod, looking forward on purchasing the Black, SS and maybe the White finish in the future..

Have you tested it to be sure? I'm not saying it's not one piece but I have personally seen a Brass clone that completely hid the press fit seam up top and without knocking it out, you would never have been able to see it from the outside.

Now with that being said, if anyone was going to take the time to make a true one piece design I'm not surprised that it's likely infinite doing it, the infinite clones are a good $20-$30 more than most of the other clones on the market and I am assuming that increase in price is due to the increased machining costs associated with making it out of a single piece. Most of the infinite clones are $40-50+ whereas the cheap china FT or Focal clones are all under $20, makes sense that the infinite would be better quality with the increase in price.
Trust me i get where your coming from, and it could be a very fine line if someone could notice it, i dont have the best eyes, hense the glasses i wear lol. But to me, no i cant see anything in my eyes, i even looked inside and believe it to be a 1 piece tube. However, i could also be wrong since they make it to be near impossible to see sometimes, it could be seamless. But i think it is a solid piece, ive also heald and inspected the A-mod version and it also seems to be a 1 piece. They make good stuff as well. But like i said, i could be completely wrong here also, but your right about the mark up on the price as well.

What's a cheap b4st4rd to do? I want the best bang for the buck. I have commitment issues when the next best thing comes out in the market, which is like every couple of months. If I blew $250 on a authentic Nemesis/Stingray, I would be kicking myself right now knowing that the SMPL exists and hits better for half the cost. Pretty sure in a few months something is going to rival the SMPL in performance, maybe even a SMPL v2, and v3, etc.

I dont think it has anything to do with you being a cheap b, everyone gets what they can afford, or gets what they like. This market is flooded, so you'll always have that problem of the next best thing. Trust me i know. Just narrow it down to what you know you like, hybrids, pins, locking rings, recessed button, etc. The price on the authentic isnt too bad for what it is, some may not agree, and thats fine. I own both, copper authentic and a stainless clone, both are equally nice. The stainless is just my beater mod.

I think talking about the clone in an authentic thread is ok as long as it's limited but when clone talk goes on and on... I think it's more respectful to start a new thread

So my local reputable B&M has SMPL in stock...but from what I know I thought The Vapor Lair was the only place that sells this item? I want to pick it up and/or look at it since TVL never has it in stock nor do I live in the OC or Houston..but how can you tell if its a clone or not? What does the packaging look like? Hope you guys can help me out:)

The authentic should come in a clear tube that says #smplmod. Im pretty sure thats how it says it at least. I got mine a while ago so it might have changed.

Some clones come in cloned factory packaging. I'd hit up Epic and ask them if anyone other than TVL is selling them.

Chipotle.
If you check my Instagram(@serialvapist) there are numerous photos of the arrival/unboxing of all of my authentic SMPL mods. The packaging should look identical to what you see there, the mod comes in a perfectly sized clear plastic tube, When it is brand new the mod itself is protected with a very thin clear plastic wrapped around it while inside the tube.

I wouldn't typically say this, but in this case I'd get the clone…the ones I've seen seem to be every bit as good as the authentic, and since Epic Design Studios can't get their S^*T together and rarely responds to customer inquiries I'd just move on. My response is no doubt a little bitter, I went round and round with them months ago about their advertising, they continued to post 18350 tubes in their social media advertising the release, when in fact the only way you could buy it was in 18650, so any users of 18350's would have to buy a 650 they'd never use and a 350 tube separately, just dumb…and when I called VL and the manager told me "all anyone uses are 18650's anyway", Epic Fail Design Studios as far as I'm concerned. Good luck with these chuckleheads.

Wow so bitter ... 120 is not that bad of a price... Add a 350 tube and it's 155 still not a horrible price... I have 3 650 tubes and 3 350 tubes all are doing great... The clone switch is noticeably lower quality... I stand by them and every inquiry I've made of their Facebook has been answered
