Got my Lemo Drop today. Put a .6 coil in and it works better than my Magma on the SMPL.

What did ya find to smooth it out?
I've yet to pull the switch apart.

2000 grit paper, then mothers mag polish with a dremel. Then the smallest amount of di-electric grease on the threads of the disc thing that locks the button.
I think I may get some Ox guard that duc916 linked too. Looks interesting.

Ox-Guard is great but it needs to be cleaned off and reapplied every month or two in my experience. It cakes. I use it on my sentinel mod but none of the others. As I type my sentinel squeaks when I unlock it. Good enough reason to use the SMPL instead!

Looks like I got lucky on my SMPL button. Was at a B+M the other day and one of the guys was talking about the gritty SMPL buttons (that they sell for ~$40). I let him press mine a few times and he just stared at me with a dropped jaw. He asked what I did to make it so awesome. I wish I had had a witty answer like soaking it in orphan tears or floating it in blue Kool-Aid. :vapor:

Chipotle.
No seam.
Angelcigs.
I can almost guarantee you that it's seamed from the top side(especially at $16), that's the reason the finish on the top is sanded in one direction and not finished radially. When it is made a press fits the top 510 section to the tube and then they sand it flush, the resulting finish hides the seam VERY well. Please see this post for reference - http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/mechmods/631387-smpl-xxix-clone.html#post14765530

Since I made that post it does appear there is at least one manufacturer making true one piece clones(Infinite I believe), the key is looking for the radially finished top and not one that is sanded in a single direction. There are several different versions of the clone, some are even seamed from the side and are visibly noticeable but all do seem to work as designed despite the inconsistencies.

Edit: To be fair I do still use that pressed in top clone, I smacked it back in with a piece of wood and have used it the past two days as a beater mod for work. The top cap has stayed in place, but the fear of a tarnish developing between the sections bothers so much that I may try to solder the entire cap in place in the future.

Hmmmm, glasses and a magnifying glass, still can't see a seam at the top.
I do see the one direction buffing marks though.

Agreed.
Fer $16 shipped even if it is a press fit top the dern thing werks well enough (-:

Took another look at the description at Custom Mod Creation.
Doesn't claim single piece/one piece. Does say Solid SS, non-removable top cap.

All the same it still werks well and I dang shure can't see a seam.

16$ shipped

Some of the clones have springs in the switch and some have magnets. The magnet ones seem to smooth out after a bit although they are more prone to auto-fire when you set them down. The ones with springs need to have the spring replaced with a tighter spring to get good results. I make replacement springs with some 20 ga. kanthal, makes those switches sweet. If your button has a "C" clip holding it together, be careful. When you try and remove them, they can snap in two (poor quality Chinese clips). I keep replacements on hand, just for that reason and the fact that they go flying off, never to be seen again. I get them at Ace hardware stores. If your switch has a screw in the center, then no problem with spring replacement. All in all tho, I love me some SMPLs, best little hybrid mod around IMHO!!

Did you get a tracking number before you received your order? when I ordered from them in Sept they sent tracking that day or the next. Things change though.

How is the Smpl?? obviously you haven't had it long, but is it super cheap copper like some of the 4nines that brown up almost immediately?
This is my first copper mod, I was going to get some of that stuff they use to clean car rims that leaves a coating on it to protect it - anyone have any thoughts on that?

All copper will patina. I have heard that the more purer the copper, then faster it will patina. So you sacrifice that for conductivity. But copper mods are not hard to polish. I have many of them.

My SMPL is not copper though, it is the A-MOD black version, which is totally awesome. Some people say it is rubberized brass, but its not rubberized like a car tire. It is an elegant soft-touch finish and it feels wonderful.
Here is mine with a Billow:

Its so small, it makes it perfect for a bigger sized tank like the Billow.

ETA: I love this thing! I think the Epic Design Studios should clone this A-MOD version.

Angelcigs SMPL mod is pretty nice.
Looks one piece, no visible seam at all even under 10x loupe. If it's press fit it's done very well.
It has a spring switch, c clip retainer to hold switch together.
Switch needed cleaning, but hits like a beast.

Yeah, I'll pull the switch apart, clean and apply nolox. Hows the patina? Did you do anything to coat it?
