You could safely test a button top by sliding it in, all the way up to the top, without an atty, and measuring voltage between the bottom threads and negative terminal of the battery. If you get the battery voltage then that's a dead short and you can't safely use it.

Great (and safe) testing method. Thank you and good looking out.

The local Madvapes has a "25A button top that works in a SMPL with an Atlantis". I didn't get a make and model but I'll stop back by sometime with my multimeter and test it out. If my Atlantis could work on a SMPL I'd have an excuse, er, REASON to get a 2nd smpl. I think black would look sick under the atlantis.

Ordered the SS SMPL from bestpriceecig today, I just reread their description and the top part said spring loaded switch but the details at the bottom said magnetic switch.

"The SMPL clone is a 1:1 copy of the original made from copper. The SMPL clone has a 18650 battery tube and “top cap” made from a single piece of copper just like the authentic, so your atomizer will connect directly to the battery. This feature, along with the copper body, will provide users with almost no voltage drop. The bottom firing switch is --> spring loaded <-- and the mod measures 78mm long by 22mm wide."

Features:
– 1:1 Clone Copy
– 18650 Battery Tube
– Copper construction
– “No top cap” design
– Removable bottom switch
– Magnet.firing switch <--
– Battery vents in button
– Measures 22mm wide by 78mm tall

A few questions:

1. To people who have recently ordered from them, which switch did you get? Fasttech had an SKU switch from spring to magnets (the $10.93 one). I guess it could be a similar supplier issue?

2. Which one is better on the SMPL? Magnet or spring? I have read the spring can be "upgraded" with the one from the Nemesis? I haz one.

3. This will work well with my flat top LG HE 18650 right? I am thinking yes.

Can't wait to try it with my Magma and Orchid v2 clones.

I just received my copper and ss smpl clones from best priced ecigs & they both have magnets in the switch. The switch is different from the authentic in that it doesn't have the snap ring like the authentic. I have an authentic brass SMPL but figured I'd get the copper and ss one's in the clones since the authentics are never in stock! The authentic switch actually works with the clones as well. The 2 things that are different though is that the slot on the bottom of the clone switches isn't as deep as the authentic & the switch sticks out of the bottom a little on the clones. Not too big of a deal though considering how cheap they are. As far as performance goes, they hit just as hard as the authentic! Love these little beauties!

my smpl clone is from angelcigs and its got a spring (just took their word on it and people here...) I haven't had any reason to order a magnetic upgrade kit.. hits harder IMO and spring is firm as is the button press (but not too firm...) best <$15 I've spent :)
