You didn't answer the question in the other thread either, so I guess you haven't taken it apart. It's mandatory to own a mech. Like owning a car... If you can't change your own oil, pay someone to do it or it won't run anymore. Application of an anti-oxidizing grease was recommended, but your switch has to be taken apart in order to do it. Cleaning just the outside of the switch without cleaning the inside is like polishing the hood of your car instead of doing an oil change.

Do you think this cleaning is as necessary or necessary at all with the ones with the magnet switches?

I have a spring switch in mine, been using it since January, have not cleaned it yet.

Maybe I should? Haven't had any issues with it yet.

If you want to sub-ohm at 0.2-0.3, even more important than cleaning is some good grease. Try Ox-Gard from Lowes. Higher resistance builds don't matter as much.

I think it's the spring. My fits kinda wonky, fires fine, just a PITA to put back together. Does your spring get an almost powder like coating on Mrez?

I hadn't noticed a coating as of yet. After a good cleaning yesterday, it was better, but started up again. I think I'm just going to need to source a new spring of some kind.

I take my regular use mechs apart to wipe them down a few times a week. I do a full cleaning with fresh mother mag and rags or dremel probably once a week. I have not come across a great method for keeping the spreads really clean, or the spring clean. But I would note that the mothers mag pulls off alot of crap from in and out of the tubes. Should I consider a different cleaning agent other then the mothers mag paste?

Do you rinse all the pieces with hot soapy water after you clean em with mothers? I do just in case I miss something.

I usually gave them a hot rinse, but no soap (down in my basement building area, always for get to bring down the soap), but that has been more to get the residue of my hands so I dont leave prints over my copper mods :D.

Some info for my fellow SMPL addicts out there. I got 2 more SMPLs from bestpriceecigs recently. One Copper and one SS.

The buttons are different than my old one and I'm not happy with the new buttons. They feel fine, but they're longer and don't recess with any of the 8 atties I've tried on them. I can swap the new button for the old button on the same tube and it's recessed. I'm using flat top batteries, 25R's and efest purps.

Another note, the new button's coin slots aren't cut as deep and that makes unscrewing them almost impossible without firing the atty. Not the end of the world, but a definite difference. I prefer the deeper slots, as usual. ;)

Old button on the left.

Same tube and atty (the most recessed one I have). First pic is with the old button.

Swapped it for the new button.

Anyone have one or the other? Anyone having any trouble getting a recessed button with the one on the right?

I have the one on the right from bestpriceecig as well and the buttons are just longer. Mine is just past the tube end screwed in all the way on both attys I've tried and I've heard others reporting the same. I don't mind it much but ymmv. Do you experience any problems at all with the spring button? I've seen most people on this thread complaining about the spring button concerning crunchiness, build up inside and whatnot.

OOC where did you get your left one from and how much?

I got both from BPE but the one on the left was bought at the end of 2014. Is the one on the left the spring one? If so, I like it better than the one on the right. It has a smoother throw. I greatly prefer the size and recess of the one on the left.

I have to fiddle with it to get the button straight (so it doesn't look like it's leaning) if that makes sense lol

But it's still recessed right? And it fires OK? No auto fire problems?

Since somebody posted their hobo combo I gotta do another pic lol

Oh yeah you guys already talked about this right. Wonky how? I'm thinking about exchanging the hobo clone I got from them since it was crazy but I want to make sure their SMPL is worth it

Wobbles, sometimes doesn't fire unless pressed in center, fit and finish not as good as other clones, c clip drags against side of switch.
A lil work fixes it right up tho.
