Every mod can have this issue.
There is resistance in the switch. Something is causing resistance where there was none before.
Most likely corrosion or carbon built up in the switch or on the spring.
Be sure the grooves in the switch walls are clean, and clean/replace the spring.
I heard some stories about SMPL and KST Mini didnt work too well together. Any thoughts?

Stock the STmini's 510 pin doesn't really stick out far enough to be considered safe for use with hybrid top cap mods.
Its easy to "fix" though, just take the pin, and insulator out, and file down the base a bit.

How long did you do the 'brushing-out' with the Nail File, until you reach the desired length removed ?

Where did you get the spacer? I have one that came with a pollux rda clone and it's necessary on my hobo/smpl rig. I want some more spacers and I'm having trouble finding them. TIA.New freakshow on copper SMPL with delrin spacer so the button is recessed
We got them from the 4 Pollux attys we got on sale.
You can make one pretty easily from a piece of plastic
Been using my copper SMPL for a couple of days from FT, and it is without doubt the best mech I have ever used. Simple (duh),clean, small and real purdy. I really how the recessed switch has a strong enough throw that you don't need a locking ring. I prefer this as if I put a mod in my pocket, I'm always worrying whether the lock is on or not. The switch operates smoothly every time without any lubrication or modification by me. The voltage drop is only 1.7 volts tested on a 0.6 ohm load, which to me is great.
Ah. I gotcha. It was almost worth the $6 just for the spacer! I guess I could fab up some spacers. Hadn't really thought about that. I figured I couldn't be the only person to ever need one and that someone would be selling them for cheap.
Could get some thin black plastic and maybe use a sleeve from my immediately-retired 4nine clone to draw the circle. At least then the 4nine will be good for something other than an atty stand!

I just received my A-MOD SS SMPL clone today. I cleaned the switch parts and the tube with warm water and dish soap. Once dried I used it with an RDA and an RTA, really happy with the purchase.
I'm so used to the Sig150 size and the SMPL is so small in comparison. It's really great and I'm glad to finally have a mechanical in rotation. The quality of the A-MOD clone is good for the price. Very smooth switch. I can't wait to get the SXK stingray X in, will be the second mechanical.

I am a huge fan of the SMPL clones. Have an A-Mod SS, a copper and today I just ordered a brass one.

I was tempted by the black FT one, but I was concerned about the paint flaking off.
I've realized that a hybrid topcap provides another benefit. The pressure from the battery stops the deck from turning when you adjus the AFC in a counter clockwise direction.
