Easy for you maybe

lol, frannie - once you get the back plate off all parts are easily accessible! i got my training from dell - they would troubleshoot and then tell me yup! i had warranty but before they'd send anybody out i'd have to give it a shot of getting the part in myself! :D
amazingly, they were mostly right

If possible, go for 8 GB of ram with Win8.

Windows 8 (8.1) offers the "Desktop" view, so you don't have to deal with the "Tiles" view. Plus if you do the following, you also have a Programs menu to access all your ... well ... programs :D
How to Add an All Programs Button to the Windows 8 Taskbar

Cool Catt. Thanks...and OMG! there are a gazillion extra programs that i don't use or need. No wonder you need 8 gigs of ram, and no wonder they got rid of the start menu...you'd be able to see all the extra junk installed

Sleep well y'all :)

Home now.

So....

It's either a
1) Software issue
2) Hardware issue

Since you're having weird things happen with network card, new wireless card, graphics....
I was betting on software. Since we know the old card used to work, I was trying to get it to work by reinstalling the drivers.

So go into device manager, find the network card, delete it. Rescan will get Windows to re-load the drivers. Sometimes, this works if the drivers are messed up (a software issue).

I'm not any more convinced than Tibs is. But who knows? Hard to tell from here. Last I knew, you had a working network card but no network address handed out by the modem/router so they were sending you an new modem/router. Then, a bunch of phone tech support people basically told you that the net card was bad, but nothing has worked since, and now they claim the graphics card is bad. So IDK.
