I agree, even if the FDA bans e-cigs that just means e-cigs wont be able to sell at mall kiosks anymore, personally i dont care. I'll still be ordering from my dealers overseas and they will continue to produce and ship product. If I get caught with an e-cig I mean what could they possibly do? Nicotine is readily available everywhere and anywhere. If they ban using e-cigs indoors, so be it. It's cool, but not essential to recreational vaping.

Came across this today:
businessweek.com/ap/financialnews/D9B29TOO0
FDA starts collecting fees from tobacco companies - BusinessWeek

excerpt below

"In June, President Barack Obama signed the law that allows the FDA regulate the industry. Its authority includes the ability to ban certain products, reduce nicotine in tobacco products and block labels such "low tar" and "light." Tobacco companies also will be required to cover their cartons with large, graphic warnings.

The law doesn't let the FDA ban nicotine or tobacco outright."

So is this accurate?
It does not say how low they can make nicotine in them tho. I bet they could make them 0.01% if they wanted too.

Thanks so much for your informative and well phrased reply.

I guess I'm somewhat confused by the "hoarding" mentality which seems somewhat pervasive on this board if nicotine can't be banned.

One could always use an Iolite if ecigs or atomizers became unavailable.

As long as nicotine is available vaping will continue.

But capricious or ill advised regulation could make our lives more miserable, I guess.

Thanks again...

Nicotine used for vaping isn't that easy to get ahold of by the average person and a lot of people don't want to be messing with it - it is highly toxic in pure form, after all.

I'm not sure how the Iolite would work for nicotine? I had to google that one, lol!

I'm really tired of the whining, too, but we can't lose out on what we've put in with this so far...there are a lot of new kids on the block, but this is kind of a confusing place these days. But now it's about how many models there are, when I joined it was about safety, more what not to do than how much one can get away with....vaping with 48mg nic??? Holey mackerel..Somebody asked the other day what was a Ruyan. Hmmm.
The New Members' Forum is quite well done, and really should be answering most questions. Boy I sound like an old person don't I!
I wish I'd seen it all before I made choices, but never knew e-cigs were around, till only about seven months ago. This forum is doing a huge service, but we need to get people rallied back to the basics, how to promote e-cigs with some degree of respect for 'do no harm', and for the most part I think it's working pretty well.
I'm starting to tire of straw mods and old socks for fillers, etc., and try to make people aware that soaking cigarettes in water to make tobacco flavor may not be so good for you. Or else the FDA will be breathing down all our necks in a most undesirable way.....

All up in your grill..
I personally am sick of the FDA interfering in my life. trying to take my job from me. Trying to force myself,my family, my friends and my customers back to analogs for the sake of greed and their own corrupt agenda. Screw the FDA. They can rot in hades. Every single person whether (whiney or not) that we turn against this corrupt machine is a small victory in my eyes. I think your hostility is misdirected.

Stop blaming the manufacturers. (they didn't break the law, our government is trying to change the law to suit their own purposes)
Stop blaming noobs (we need as many on our side as possible)
Stop trying to be reasonable with these corrupt agencies. (they don't care about you and will not listen to reason)
Start fighting back (educate and propogate)
You need about an 11th grade understanding of chemistry to see why e-cigs are better.

There is a large group of people who we support with our taxes that are trying to murder us for profit.
FIGHT BACK!

Ok, not that there isn't a crapload of posts on this already, but I too am tired of the whining about the FDA, but for different reasons. Here is my rebuttal in support of the FDA. (Let the flaming begin).

I LIKE going to the supermarket and knowing that the bottle of Advil I am buying has exactly what it says and that every third pill isn't concrete dust or rat droppings. I LIKE that anyone can't just put paprika in a gel cap and tell you it will make you 10 years younger. I LIKE that there is someone, even an agency as flawed as the FDA, policing big pharma so I know that erections that last over 4 hours are bad, 'cause that certainly would not have been my first guess.

What I DON'T like is the stated position that e-cigs are a new drug and must undergo the full process. There is nothing new in them, even the trace elements of the nasty stuff in their own tests. I DON'T like that their main motivations are political in this regard and not in the best interests of the public good. But it isn't really even their fault. They have 2 choices in regards to anything under their jurisdiction, approved or not approved. How then can they possibly say e-cigs are approved when they have NO studies to base this decision upon? Lets be real, is there anyone who is 100% confident that their latest batch of China juice doesn't contain asbestos or ground up kittens? That the next company to produce 510 atty knock offs would never use lead based solder? And yes, I know there are domestic producers who use USP products etc, but most are mixing them up in their kitchens with no over site, you think mistakes cant happen?

I have no intention of stopping because of any of this, but lets not pretend that this is something it isn't. I hope to one day buy juice that is exactly as labeled every time, atomizers that don't last 1 month, plus or minus one month, batteries I am sure will work out of the box. But that is a ways off at best.

Ok, start slamming.

Nothing you said is unreasonable. But lets be real here. This isn't about qaulity control it's about controlling the wealth. If the FDA was interested in actually doing their job, they could hold the manufacturers to a higher standard and allow the product to be sold. But they aren't. they are just trying to eliminate the competetion for their unsafe ineffective overpriced pharma nrt's that e-cig is a serious threat to. So yeah. It would be nice if they did their job but instead they are trying to profit from our death by pushing their junk and blackballing our beloved devices. So Screw them.

I agree. I think our focus should be educating other smokers and the general public for that matter. Stop focusing on what if's and build up the ranks to fight against FDA or anyone else that wants to oppose e-cigs. I try to spread the word each and every day to anyone who will listen. I've converted 4 and I've only been vaping for 3 weeks. My plan is to find an inexpensive starter kit to hand out at least once a month. Something to give them a trial. I know they will convert after trying.

Thumbs up Rob!
