I accidently stanted a post LIKE this in the General e-liquid one.....Sorry, but...I am in here NOW!!!

I have been trying, for about 3wks, to get a Caramelish, Sweet Bailed Hay, Mild SWEET tobacco flavor. I used to smoke Mar Lites. Got a SmokeTip to start me off, in Feb. Their 'Regular" flavor is a SWEET tobacco. The above is the only way I can describe it. I am trying to DYI, of course, VERY little luck so far. I have
MLB flavor, MLB Signature Flavor, a Turkish flavor, a Smooth flavor......Had another Turkish but that HAD to go in the trash (Just about killed BOTH of us!!!!)!! Neither of us could stand the perfumy taste. I have JUST gotten some others, they are already steeping.
Here is the problem.....the few attempts that I have made to make a flavor I would like have not been pretty. They taste like someone sprayed cheap perfume into my mouth or some VERY ODD Spice note on the end!!! I made a few 5 ml batches of those 4 flavors (8mg Nic and .4mg (8%) Flavor). Didn't like any of them at all. (Perfume Taste) Am I making the flavor too weak, thus causing the floral and spice notes to jump to the fore front? OR Would I not like them no matter what I did??

I just want a nice SWEET, Caramely, Bailed Hay, Mild Tobacco flavor. Is that really too much to ask.
I know I am missing a few flavors. I need a GREAT Caramel, Cinn-a-bun, Vanilla, and .....Well, you know, SWEET stuff!!!! Did I meantion I like the SWEET ones??? But.........I NEED a Great Tobacco Base to spring from!!! I will even take a STRONG Base that can hold up to being used at more diluted levels!!! HELP!?!?!?!

I don't mind fruit flavors. Not too tough there, so long as they taste LIKE FRUIT and NOT FRUIT CANDY. NO Jolly Ranchers PLEASE! LOL I don't really mind SWEET Spices. What I DO mind and HATE (Yup, Discovered that much so far) the PERFUME tastes and the Spicy Spices. I have been led to understand that I should AVOID Turkish-ish flavors for that reason. I can pretty much drown out a BAD tobacco with a fruit or some other NON-Tobacco flavor, Most of the time. LOL
But where are the GREAT NON-Prefume, NON-Spicy Tobacco Base flavors!?!?!?

Northern Nevada, astride the "49er trail
4% Asian Ry4 OR English Tobacco OR Virginia Firecured OR Marlboro
5% ethyl malto
5% caramel
1% Tobacco Absolute

Here is my favorite tobacco base.

Son't do the Virginia Flue Cured if you don't like a little perfumey. The others are great. Very popular with some of my peeps:)

You can also get a TFA Double Ry4 which is good too.

If you click on the 3 for my blog entries.

I am by no means any sort of an expert, but I have found ecigexpress' Tobacco Absolute to be extremely enjoyable. Taste is such a subjective measurement. It comes in a 1.5 ml vial, and is recommended to mix that 9:1 with grain alcohol. I have experimented with this up to 5% flavoring and it is potent. If you are looking for a great tobacco taste I would try this. I mix mine with Flavour Arts Desert Ship, and end up with an interesting vape.

I'm not familiar with SmokeTip but most of the prefilled or disposable ecigs have some type of Chinese juice in them. Dekang being the most common by far. I'd suggest getting some small bottles of DK juice and see which matches the one you like. Madvapes has them pretty cheap. Once you figure that out you can probably duplicate it easily. I bet it will be one of these...DK Tab, USA Mix, or RY4. Desert Ship or 555 are possible but not as likely.

Gonna atart at the top and work my way down:

@Iffy......most perfumy tastes were from too much flavoring. I am only using 8% (Thats 4ml) per 5ml. Most places I checked suggested 10% per ml. That's why I am wondering if it may need more...but The TASTE.....I'm a-skered!!! lol

@ scooterholic.....How long are you letting them steep? They have been in there steeping for over a week and a half.

@ Renolizzie.....Will give recipe a try soon as I get a few more flavorings. I JUST got TFA Double RY4, RY4 Asian, & M-Type in yesterday, they are steeping now. Also got a few FRUIT flavors...FORGOT TO GET NON-FRUIT ones for mixing with tobaccos!!!! *CRY* Those will have to wait till next month. I went over my budget for this month already. 1000ml each of Nic, PG and VG along with the other flavors!!! I good on the Niquid for.....ummmm a while. *BIG GRIN*

@gman11377...... but I have found ecigexpress' Tobacco Absolute to be extremely enjoyable. The flavors I am having problems with came from there: Tobacco Express MLB 10ml, Tobacco Express Turkish 10ml, and MLB Type by Signature!!! I have NOT tried and Tobacco Abs yet. But am thinking about it REALLY hard!!

@unloaded....I bet it will be one of these...DK Tab, USA Mix, or RY4. Desert Ship or 555 are possible but not as likely. I will prob gave to bite the bullet and buy the pre-mades till I find what I like. Then find a recipe for it. LOL ANY thign it better than PERFUME in a PUFF or SPICY RAID stuff.

My recipes vary from 0.35% to 35%. One of the reasons I wrote the my blog on finding flavoring levels was because suggestions are like opinions. Everyone has one and many of them stink. Trust me, finding out a flavoring works best at 0.35% is harder than finding out a flavoring works best at 35%. There is one recipe I have that works great at 3.2-3.8%, but sucks at 4%, plus needs 2 weeks of steeping and I nearly gave up on the flavor before I discovered this.

Sometimes it's not easy, sometimes it is, typically tobaccos are not in the easy camp. But the rewards are worth the loss of a bit of hair stuck between the fingers. (And when you get used to a type of tobacco flavoring, it does get easier, but I remember quite a few "Ewwwww" moments in those early days. Maybe having less than a quarter of the tobacco flavorings now available didn't help either?)

8% of 5ml is only .4ml I hope that is what you meant. :) I have had some tobacco flavors that like crap until 5 weeks of steeping and then goodness like you can only imagine. Tobaccos are tough and require a lot of time steeping. I normally mix up 3 types in 3 different 30ml batch and let them steep. I then make my mixes from these.

10% is just an average for some flavors. People's tastes and methods can completely change that number. For instance, if you drip instead of use a cartomizer, you may be able to get away with using less flavoring since there's no barrier between the juice and the heating element. Also, it can depend on the PG/VG ratio. In my experience, PG enhances flavor more than VG. Unfortunately you won't know until you try for yourself. You can research what other people are doing for ideas but what it boils down to is everyone is different. Just start with small batches until you get the percentages where you want them

For myself, I am trying to keep the PG on the low side. It may or may not be the cause of the nose-bleeds. Water intake has been increased and I have a humidifier going. Does not seem to bother my husband in the least. OH HOW WE HATES'es HIM!!! LOL I do know that I am going to leave the Nic out until I have the flavor right. I don't mind wasting the PG/VG as it is pretty cheap. Will add the Nic last and fine tune it afterwards. Have a few Bridgeless Atties, Kanger T3's, and ViVi Nova Metal tank thingies with metal driptips. If the bad ones (Tank Carckers) eat up my metal tanks and tips...I will quit it all!!! Now the lil plastis gaskets are another story. Might need a few of those sometime in the future. HEHEHEHE

May be I should do 2-3ml batches???? I got glass bottles for that!! Hmmmmm.....

J&V my favorite tobacco mix (and the one that finally got me off analogs) is:

Sweet Virginia
10% Virginia Tobacco
5% Caramel
5% Brown Sugar
1% Tobacco Absolute (10% solution in PGA)

all are from TFA. This is pretty perfumey the first couple of days but is great after steeping for a few, gets better the longer it sits=.

I'm a DRY4 advocate, so I typically pipe in when I see that mentioned and feel I have something to contribute. I use an 8% juice made of DRY4, single flavor. I can use it right out of the mixing bottle or let it steep for up to 4 weeks (it never lasts longer than that). It's a little like Scotch, an acquired taste. It doesn't hit the spot at first, but after you do a bottle or two, you find you really like it. I never seem to get the same flavor from it. It's either caramel, slightly sweet something or other, or who knows, but it's always nice.

It would be my recommended choice of flavors for anyone just beginning and looking for a mild, slightly sweet (?) tobacco, although I don't really consider it a pure tobacco flavor.

I couldn't wait any longer:blush:!! Last night I grabbed my lil 15ml of 8% RY4, gave it a good shake, filled my lil tank and puffed away. Really hit the spot, for me. :w00t: Could use a lil more caramel. Although, that may get stronger as it sits. Gonna make up a big bottle and let it steep while I smoke on this one!! May be I should make 2.....you know, just in case. I may even leave the nic out of one until I get my puffing away under control!!! Wonder what would happen if I could take that 8% up to 10%?!?!? I think I will try that in a lil batch.
