I found out between yesterday and today that I was allergic to the Menthol flavor in Durasmoke eliquid. My eyes were getting red, sore and puffy. I just made a batch of Unflavored DIY liquid and the problem is gone even though I upped the Nic content from 2.4 to approximately 3.0, I'm sure some liquids can cause problems because it happened to me.

Vanillas make me hoarse. I avoid them. I also DIY.

I don't enjoy not knowing what I'm vaping either, I am PG sensitive, not allergic. More than 10% gives me an unpleasant feeling like pins and needles. It hurts, so I only ever use 10% PG. I use PEG400 instead, it's similar to VG.

I DIY.

If certain liquids cause you issues, IMHO DIY is the solution. It's also way cheaper (after some start up costs) and YOU control what goes into the bottle.

And by the way it's NOT vaping that causes problems. I don't mind health concerns being posted, but it is YOUR particular juice and YOUR particular health system that is reacting in a certain way in YOUR BODY.

The problem actually, is not vaping itself but YOU. I don't believe I posted global "vaping is causing problems" titles as I was figuring it out. I may be wrong.

But IMHO change your title, it's not correct nor is it needed, honestly.

I've always vaped high PG juices. Too much VG coats my throat and makes me cough. Even 50/50 isn't that good for me, so I mix at 70pg/30vg and all is good. Back when I started vaping lots of people were vaping 90pg, me included. It probably the reason I've been a 10W Tootle Puffer since starting to vape. All I ever wanted to do is recreate the effect of smoking a cigarette.

All I know is I got some juice that tasted nasty (see my recent post) and it gave me a sort of allergic reaction. The guy at a local shop sold it to me when I knew nothing about different juices (maybe to teach me a lesson?) I don't think it has to do with vg/pg (at least not for me) It was definately the other ingredients. I'm new to all this, so still learning, but something in this juice makes me choke and gag.

I used to have a lot of sinus drainage down my throat. My solution...flavorless.

@Nancy D - I see you've offered a "Disagree" with my post. I don't understand what it is you are disagreeing with.

Are you suggesting that going flavorless did not help with sinus drainage in my case?

Are you suggesting you've had sinus drainage problems and that attempting flavorless did not change your circumstances?

Do you find my offering the thought of flavorless disagreeable in the current political atmosphere as it relates to flavors?

Are you simply being disagreeable because you can?

Is there some other reason you are expressing disagreement?

Things like this is why I kinda wish there was a little bit of regulation with vape juices. It would be nice to know what ingredients are used - not the percentages, the ratio of VG/PG, and whether they're using USP grade VG/PG. Any regulations beyond that are unneeded and unwarranted imo.
This thread gives good reason for doing DIY. Much more control, and knowing what goes in your juice. I know my nets use alcohol extraction, so only alcohol, tobacco, VG and nic are ingredients.

Just an fyi, Wizard Labs provides SDS for many of their flavorings (link for PDF at bottom of the product page). Another flavoring provider does too, but I can't remember who. I downloaded the ones for Hangsen that I used to use. Here's a random one I got from Wizard:

And here's one for Hangsen Tab. Interestingly, though people routinely state that all flavorings are PG based, this one is only 8%

Gosh, I'm sorry! I'd meant to hit the "Agree"!
Actually I'm having a similar experience. I've been cutting out as much PG as possible because of it.
I have a 50ml of flavorless 6mg and actually it's a great juice!

Have your sinus problems cleared up yet? I am never sure what to do for sinus issues. The headaches are bad when I get them.

Again, sorry for the mixup.
The one I disagree with in the flavored juice fight are the people who are trying to deem vaping a teen peril!

Have a good one. :)

Either do I, I like to be alive! So CB, what's the secret 5% ingredient in your juice? ;)

Well...just what I said. The "5%" ingredient is Nicotine. That and 50mg/ml are roughly equivalent...depending upon one's mixing criteria. The differences are beyond my scope, but I'll say it is technically incorrect to say 50mg/ml nicotine is 5% nicotine. I'll leave the accruate explanation of that to those that mix by weight.

So you're using VG based nicotine liquid, too?
